The proof will be in the pudding - and until people like Lindsay Graham and others lose their grip on the direction and guidance of the GOP - that party will continue to suffer.

A "moderate" is someone who really doesn't have a position on anything - and becomes an appeaser and capitulator most of the time. John McCain - the darling of the liberal media until he became the nominee for the Republican Party has proven that time and again with his "reaching across the aisle" and drawing back a nub.

What the GOP really needs is a good thorough housecleaning - it started with this past election. What amazes me is some of those who were swept out of the way still ramble on and on like they deserve to be acknowledged. One can only hope that truly fresh faces, with true conservative ideals (think Goldwater, not Reagan) will emerge from this debacle and save this party - if it doesn't then expect to see stronger and stronger showings from third party candidates who actually walk that walk Foley writes about: "less government, less taxes and more personal responsibility." Those really are principles most Americans would like to see. Unfortunately, not very many Republicans have been following that model for a long time, and the voters finally caught on. The voters decided that if the Republicans were going to act like liberals, then they might as well vote in some REAL liberals, not just some posers who couldn't resist a bottomless pit of funding from a POTUS who could never find his veto pen.

Re: N.M. Wouldn't that great? That way, we'd know much more about Obama, wouldn't we? And some who won't vote for him merely because they know so little about him, could make more intelligent decisions. But for some reason Obama gets a pass when it comes to "serious journalism" (a term fast becoming an oxymoron) ...
I will be so glad when this election is over - maybe then the media can begin digging itself out of the hole of no credibility and start acting like non-biased reporters again. "Fact checking" will guide you to those instances.

Note I did not say "ALL" of the white settlers and Indian tribes lived peacefully, because that then would not be an accurate statement. But there were many instances of "live and let live peaceful co-existence" between tribes and farmers (which most of the white settlers were - especially in the Midwest) in the late 1700s and through the first half or so of the 1800s. Many of the plains tribes traded regularly with white settlers, and even inter-married.

In The West, there was much less "peaceful co-existence" with the Pueblos and tribes.

Re: Happy Columbus Day?

Live and let be co-existence with the tribes in the area....are you sure about that???

Some fact checking might be in order....Project_Truth

Re: Happy Columbus Day?

Yeah, its funny because a lot of the exact same language used by Christians to describe Muslims during the crusades was used vice versa, and then the same rhetoric used in the dealings with Native Americans. But there's also many accounts that tell the stories of brutality from the Indian Nations on the white settler, who had previously arrived at a "live and let be" co-existence with the tribes in the area. From the Midwest, you can find documented stories of an episode when a Sioux tribe killed an entire family for no apparent reason - called the "Spirit Lake Massacre." In New Mexico, you can learn more about how the Mescalero Apaches were the last of the Indian tribes to "lay down their arms" against the white man. The Indians were also pretty brutal against one another, too. Territorial by nature, they usually reacted with brutal and savage violence against any other "native" tribe that strayed into their "land."

There's a place in the Black Hills of South Dakota that is the most impressive Native American Cultural Center and Museum I've ever seen - and I dare say the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque is impressive. But if you ever have the chance, go to the Crazy Horse Monument in the Black Hills. Be prepared to spend an entire day in their Museum Center. You'll learn a lot.

Oh and by the way - when the Barbarians invaded areas of Europe, there were episodes of nastiness, too. Humans... same stuff, different century ...

Re: McCain blasts Obama in Albuquerque

There was a time when a great many Democrats and liberals found John McCain to be "republican with honor," and "a republican to support," - even the MSM found him to be endearing - because he routinely bucked the system and fought against the "lost boys" of the GOP who became gluttonous spendthrifts.

Now that John McCan is the GOP nominee however - all those who found him to be such an endearing individual have deicded he's - the devil, after all.

Could it be that the lust for power that possesses the DNC has tainted the picture? Could it be that partisanship runs rampant within the bowels of all liberals?

I'm really curious about this anomaly - when many Republicans found McCain to be distainful because of his "reaches across the aisle" (which means capitulation and appeasement because liberals do not modify their socialist views) and many liberals embraced his "maverick" spirit - he was the darling of the media and even John Kerry considered him as a running mate for the VP slot.

Now however, there's the "we need to control everything" mentality - so McCain becomes just more of the same - at least, that's what the populace is being told by the MSM (the same MSM that used to admire his "maverick" style and courage).

Of course, when you look at McCain's overall voting record (past eight years), he really didn't "vote with Bush" 90+% of the time - it's been more like 70% or so (he is a Republican, after all).

So now, the "annointed one" who has about 143 days of experience is "the guy." Obama is your guy. A guy who has no bi-partisan experience (which you secretly like), a guy who has no real executive experience (no sweat - we'll surround him with elitists who know what's best for the common folk), and if Obama is elected, welcome to the era of American Socialism. Many of you find that to be attractive. And, that's your right to be a socialist in this country. I just hope and pray that there are still enough critical thinkers (who vote) who are not swallowing this pill without giving some serious thought to the ramifications of an Obama Presidency.

And "Mr. Jeeter" - although you're now "following my posts," (according to an e-mail alert I received) I'm really not interested in anything you might have to offer as a reply to this - I know where you stand. You are obviously a socialist, and hate all things conservative. And you are entitled to your views. If you are compelled to write some attempted witticism in response, you also have that freedom (at this time, anyway) to do so. But you will not change my mind, or "win" this argument from my perspective. My opinions are just that. Yours are also just that - your opinions.

Re: FBI probing 1,400 voter registration forms

Its ... its .. I think this remark of yours is waaaay off base:

"... New Mexico politics - stick around long enough and you'll end up in some level of authority ... like a leadership position in the statehouse, regardless of your actual credentials or character ..."

Now that's below the belt, PT! I've heard - from Dan Foley himself, actually - that Dan Foley did an excellent job as minority whip up in the Roundhouse. Cheap shots such as attacking Dan Foley's leadership position, credentials and character might seem like an easy job, but let me tell you, it's ... uh ... it's proved to be a lot easier than it sounds. Still, you need to back up your accusations against Dan with some facts. Like more fully discussing his credentials and character. He hasn't, for instance, spent any time in SE Asia, has he? He IS "entertaining" I have noticed.

And, what can I say?, nice job blowing the lid off the state-legislator/Vietnamese "entertainer" story. Funny, I'm SURE I haven't seen anything about that in the Journal and they usually jump on provocative gossip like that. You know, you and Dan - if you could set aside your differences for an afternoon - might really be able to manufacture - oops! I mean "research" - an incredible story here about your arch-nemesis, Ms. Garcia. And I mean "INCREDIBLE!"

Incredible! I think the audacity of the media trying to second-guess McCain's decision of tagging Palin as his running mate is remarkably revealing of how low our media has truly sunk - and how much we, the public, has allowed this to happen.
This was after all, McCain's decision to make, and he's the one who will live to regret or rejoice this decision.

Thursday night's debate will be very telling - if Palin does well - McCain wins this election.
