Even more offensive, to me, is the fact that judges and police have made false and accusatory statements. One could suspect they'd been misquoted, except that I've read nothing about officials objecting to any media mistakes.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

"I dont believe that AK and Rudy on their own would commit murder--but i still believe someone else, perhaps Rudy's suppliere showed up, and I believe he was more ruthless. All theoretical opinion, mind you... "

Bear in mind that Rudy tore Meredith's bra off after she'd been stabbed. Do you think the ruthless supplier killed her so Rudy could have his way with her? The "real killer' had just stabbed Rudy in the palm, yet Rudy took time to strip and sexually assault a dying woman?

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

"While i think that AK and RG may have started an attaack on MK, I think someone else continued the attack and ultimately finished it."

When Rudy left MK, there was nothing left for anyone else to do. He'd already stabbed her throat, strangled her, stripped off most of her clothing and ground her face into the floor. The posts still appear in flat mode, as I prefer. The advantage is that I don't have to quote the comment I'm replying to. If you see a post that doesn't indicate to whom it refers, hover your cursor over that user's icon and select "parent" to view the parent post that spawned the reply.

Also. I know about not ending sentences with a preposition, but sometimes I have to.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

"The crime couldn't have been already in progress as she entered because CCTV & witness statements re: MKs arrival puts her there at 8:40-ish before MK."

That's all speculation.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

I was thinking about Rudy's friend who helped police with that phone call. I was wondering if he stepped forward on his own, or if police found him some other way. For instance, we haven't heard anything about calls that might have been made on the cell phones Rudy ditched. The only statement I've seen is that police talked to one person and determined that person to be of no importance to the investigation. I'm wondering if that person was the friend.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

* Do you think AK was there that night at the time of the murder?

* What was she doing during the murder (your guess?)?

* What did she do that night/morning after the murder(again your guess)?

I don't know, I used to think she was, but doubt it now. I was in a country that seems to have legalized all drugs. I think I did it only because I wanted to know why it's not legal in most places.

I knew right away it was not something I'd be doing again. I hated the feeling of not being able to focus and remember from one minute to the next what had happened or been said. Time crawled. Minutes seemed like hours. A good place to swab for foreign DNA would have been the finger mark bruises on the victim's throat/face. I don't remember that investigators said they found fingerprints on the victim. As I recall, they claimed finger marks were visible and they opined that those marks were the same "size" as AK's. However, fingerprints would be strong evidence against whoever left them.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

"The free press thing can be really useful."

After reading some of the lies, distortions and inaccuracies about this case in the British press, I can understand why the courts there lock down press coverage of local criminal cases.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

Nice post, CW. Perhaps your comments will help others determine the value, or lack of, of various types of evidence.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

sparrow: The big fear is though, that the police would rather prosecute RHG than look for this other type person....If RHG is not guilty, he is a very easy fall guy, very easy to frame.

Yeah. If he's not guilty, why'd he leave his DNA all over the victim and the crime scene? There's even more evidence to be announced.

Rudy, who was too lazy and bullheaded to adapt to the lifestyle of his adopted family, has the balls to claim he was framed because of his race. What a loser. He deserves everything he's got coming.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

LOZ,
I think Rudy used the sliver of glass because it was convenient and Meredith was putting up a good fight. There was blood on that broken window and window sill. Maybe we'll soon know whose blood. Rudy could have sneaked into Meredith's house while she was downstairs feeding the cats, or forced his way into the house when she returned home from her friends that night. Her route home, reportedly, took her past the basketball court where the homeless and dopers hung out at night.
I believe the two shallow cuts on Meredith's throat were from Rudy's forcing her to tell him where he could find money in the house. With the final deep cut, Rudy also punctured his own palm with the opposite end of the glass. I think the rage generated by his own injury resulted in his battering Meredith, possibly with the chair, and then strangling her.
This is the first time Rudy's been arrested for murder. That doesn't mean he's not done it before, only that he's never been caught. Now that his DNA is in the database, maybe other crimes will be solved.
As for the alleged phone calls between AK and Rudy, that information has not been released. The business about her key working on every lock in the house might or might not be true. What would be the point in having a door lock if everyone else had a key?

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

http://truecrimeweblog.disq...

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

I'm on central time (US), but will gladly change to whatever would be most convenient for the majority.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

Got that one, "Thanks for the link, Viv."

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

It says 15 minutes ago.

Re: Open Thread: The Murder of Meredith Kercher

Robert M: Not on my side of this screen! What about the witness from across the street that saw more than one person fleeing the scene? Or the evidence of two knives inflicting wounds?

1. Blood evidence from unidentified people does not prove AK was involved.
