I also have a spare 6310i with a dead vibration motor and the original Nokia car kit. The Sony Ericsson K750i comes pretty close, third place belongs to my current phone - Samsung i780, Windows Mobile equipped, but it's pretty great, though the out of the box experience was below average ;)

Re: T-Mobile UK launches 5MP G1 Touch next month

The specs are interesting. Is it made by HTC again like HTC Dream/T-mob G1? In any case, I'm not going to buy one, I've just got myself a new device. You guys are going to get angry/disappointed (especially Ewan :P), but it's a Samsung i780. Windows Mobile device. The out of the box experience was downright terrible, second only to the Siemens C35i. But after tweaking it a bit it's great - runs quick, multitasks nicely, brilliant satnav programs, good PIM functions, pocketable and the QWERTY is nice. It's way more powerful than most other Windows Mobile devices, especially HTC's. All the new HTC's are less capable than Windows Mobile PDAs from a few years back. Heck, even the TyTN II has less processing power than the first TyTN! And unfortunately, it probably won't change.

Re: London Bus Guide? There you enter the stop you start at and the stop you want to reach and it lists all the possible routes with details (ie travel 3 stops to street a with bus 60, wait 5 minutes for bus 53, travel 5 stops with it, etc). And that's enough for me :). Still, it's nice that you Appleholics also get that sort of goodness, too bad it's just London though.

Re: ‘Try Carphone Warehouse’ — my face dropped

And why all the hassle with Apple headphones and buying these at a mobile phone retailer? Why not just go to the nearest Media Markt (or whatever electronics retailer you Brits usually visit) and buy a proper pair of Sennheisers or AKG's or any other proper headphone make? They are considered rather good here actually, though certainly not the cream of the crop (N95 and Omnia are regarded as such). I own an N73 since March '08 and I'm rather satisfied. It surely would benefit from more RAM or on demand paging, but it suits my needs and I was able to afford it when I needed a new phone. You guys will probably be disappointed if you come here, mobile internet seems to be the domain of businessmen. The prices aren't great and normobs aren't too conscious about it.

Re: T-Mobile spreads Android joy across Europe

Poland here, I can't afford getting one (rather tight student budget, plus I'd rather go for S60 or even WinMo Pro), though I can check the pre-launch hype and the launch itself. If I entered the PIN and confirmed in less than 30 seconds, I'd get that message. The longer I'd wait, the more it'd load before it, if I waited 30 seconds, then it would normally start. I fixed it after formatting the entire phone and ditching the dreaded IRRemote.

Re: Nokia E63 spotted at the Smartphone Show

The spacebar was cut in width to fit two extra keys, Ctrl and Chr are no longer on one key.

Re: Blyk reaches 200,000 members in the UK

An overview post? Sure sounds tempting but I don't think there's enough material to base on. Plus hasn't made any statements since the early June launch of 36,6. The only news story that was published after the launch was about the stickers. I tried digging around for more info, but couldn't find anyone who'd know more about the brand.

However if you mean an overview of 36,6's offer or experiences with it, then it won't be a problem, Ewan. I can always dig out my trusty 6310i and get a 36,6 SIM for it.

Re: Blyk reaches 200,000 members in the UK

Impressive figures I have to say. Plus launched a similar prepaid initiative here - 36.6. It isn't really a huge success, the loudest story about them was people getting mad over the way 36.6 was being advertised - trashcans, walls, bus stops and other objects were covered in colorful speech bubble stickers.

Re: We’re taking Unlimited Drinks to Prague

I second the Poland idea, especially the Szczecin area, eventually somewhere on the East of Germany. :)

But Prague is a VERY nice idea, I might actually be able to drop in. It also makes most complaints at Symbian's flaws rather meaningless. Out of curiosity, did you get your hands on a Blackjack 2, Ewan? I have a buddy in the States (whom I've convinced to try something more sophisticated than a Razr or Samsung Sync) who currently uses one and is happy with it. He'll be switching to a AT&T Tilt or something S60 on his next upgrade. On a sidenote, your USA series of articles was one of the arguments I used to convince him.

As for the Q9, I think one of my contacts on MSN has one on Sprint... I wonder if he ever had these problems too.

Re: What’s Your Favourite Mobile, EVER?

I have a dilemma between three:
-my current Nokia N73. Despite the shoddy build quality it was extremely useful in many situations. It also got me into Symbian.
-SE K750i - great cross between usability and customizability. I had W800i software with a couple of modifications, probably the best all rounder ever.
-Nokia 6310(i) - I owned the regular version in black, now I have a 6310i for my second SIM card. Great battery life, IR, Bluetooth, voice recorder, Java (in the "i"), great ergonomics, audio and build quality. Both my 6310's were abused by their previous owners, the regular one had a small part fall off in the battery panel, so it rattled a bit, but the phone was still working. It once fell down pretty badly, and the only thing it needed was fixing the SIM card in the slot (it seems that it moved out a bit). Oh, and both these have Snake 2 with multiplayer (via IR). Phenomenal machines.

Hell, screw the dilemma. I pick the 6310(i). Unlike the previous two, it's a classic and while it can't technologically stand against the two other machines, it's a great design. Quite a shame they don't make phones this well nowadays.

Re: Orange employs actors to make fake iPhone queues

Actually no, either I had bad luck, or they skipped Szczecin entirely. The people in the video above refer to the iPhone as "most flashy" and "best phone ever" .(with a weak "...I think" at the end of the sentence ;))

Re: Orange employs actors to make fake iPhone queues

Hmm, I remember Orange Poland hired some girls to give away leaflets advertising the iPhone 3G, I have one too.
