Throughout my career, when there was a major problem, and particularly a potentially disastrous one in any corner of any company I ran, I was on the spot to deal with it. Hiding behind a teleprompter is no way to demonstrate Leadership.

People have to perceive that you know what you’re doing, that you are concerned, and that you have things under control.
While subordinates can handle the problem on site since they are likely all competent people who will do their jobs, the CIC or CEO should in such a circumstance, be very present.

Obama's actual response, in the middle of another speech, was very, very peculiar.

In further confirmation of some of the opinion presented in the above article, the news out of Europe today suggests a breakdown between "members" as to how much they will agree to "transfer" to developing countries. The accent is on TRANSFER. The truth of this boondoggle is finally getting out.

They are squeezed between two considerations: What amount they can afford, while in fact they can't afford anything and will have to borrow it; and, what amount to present in demand to the United States so as to NOT scare the U.S. population away for the negotiating table.

Again, the White House should walk away from this one. ....... Don't get sucked in.

The prognosis, and the concerns outlined in the above article have unfortunately been materializing by the day.

Clinton has just been rebuffed in Moscow on action toward Iran, and seems to now be left with pathetically anemic accommodations leading her to state, "... it is our preference that Iran work with the international community," as Iran pushes unabated with its nuclear arms program.

So much for demonstrating "strength" against an aggressive foe. As noted in the article, Obama coughed up America's aces, and now Russian support for serious sanctions, or any other action to bring Iran to heel, is impossible.

FINALLY ... someone from the MSM picks up on the above described blunder by Obama ... it's Charles Krauthammer from the W.P.

Just in case there is any doubt, Ahmadinejad has gone home and told his Iranian audience that the West would soon regret the stance it has taken towards its uranium enrichment plant.

Why is there so much pablum eating here by the MSM? Discussing more sanctions is idiotic and will achieve nothing.

The ayatolahs are hiding more than it appears we know. Regardless, they are determined to have their nuclear weapons.

Thanks for the comment, but next time, could you first read the article before doing so?

I agreed with implementation and use of new technologies, particularly if they are going to be less expensive as claimed, however, the mistake in the timing and process of the announcement.

Thanks for the supportive comment.

It is human nature for the individual to look after his or her own interests, whether Doctors or Lawyers, however, the system has been skewed by the legal profession which has had the power to affect legislation , since it has seen its own rank and file, fill the seats of Congress for far too long.

It appears, from the current dialogue coming out of the White House and Congress, that the abuse will continue unabated.

I think that the objective should be to bring the "pay-outs" to within reasonable amounts, instead of the absurd fortunes that being paid of which lawyers take oversized percentages. The intent is not to eliminate them.

I fully support and applaud analysis of history. Amongst other things, it is useful for understanding human tendencies and their trends under various conditions and pressures. With respect to "exchanges," keep in mind that the some of the most virulent and destructive trading carried on by the likes of Goldman over the past decade, has been in derivatives that are internationally traded, outside any exchange, and far beyond the purview of any oversight body of any country. The game continues unabated.

Yes, the USA remains and will likely remain the most important financial center for a long time to come, providing benefits which enable it to borrow beyond comprehension. We are well into the cliché'd uncharted waters.

Creditor nations, very aware that the US has a committed overhang on outlays ranging close to $50 trillion through the coming decade or so, are continuing to "play." This says much about the unassailable power of influenced perception.

The aim here is to attempt a different view, if and when that makes sense, or if and when that is possible.

It is also the aim of this post to stay away from taking "political" sides to concerns of import to taxpayers, since there is already enough of that to go around in abundance. I suspect you'll agree that we are surrounded with MSM and many blogs where "opinions" do not address the problem, but take a political stance on every policy simply, ... because. Such input doesn't provide us much learning.

I was pleased to see Ron Paul take a stand when others wouldn't on the Fed Audit request. It's a start. It also provided a view of the Fed Chair and the astonishing independence which resides there.
