The Israelis are not going to play ball whether the rockets are being launched into their territory or not. The current Palestinian leadership is not able to make any such concessions in great part because the previous actions of our government and various Israeli governments has served to weaken and discredit them.

I have to take my boys to Game Stop to buy X-Box codes.

Pt it has everything to do with pursuing the right policy. I understand the concerns of the Palestinian people and I don't want to get into a long drawn out debate about Israeli and the Palestinian problem because it's Football day. But the Isrealis aren't going to play ball if they believe Hamas is going to continue to shoot rockets in Tel Aviv. Obama needs to get those type of commitments from the Palestinian leadership. Israel could do everything Obama asks but if the Palestinian leadership doesn't commit to not express their grievances through violence then this process is a waste of time. Like I said Obama must get concessions from BOTH sides. Prior administrations tried to solve this problem by just concentrating on the Palestinians.

Taking a hard line with the Palestinians has nothing to do with pursuing the right idea or policy and everything to do with providing political cover. The Palestinians live under hard lines and even harsher policies 24/7.

Just keep in mind that the Holocaust occurred primarily in central and eastern Europe and it was not the overarching event of World War II nor were the Palestinians involved.

I understand you holding judgment on this because past moves from prior administrations have been disappointing. I'm not sure what the outcome of Obama's moves will be but thus far he has the right idea. Which is taking a hard line with BOTH sides.

Yes, but not all of them take advantage of that therapeutic hour by fully disclosing themselves and sometimes the therapist assigned to assist them doesn't really want to get too deep for fear of exposing the chinks in their own armor. It can be a mess.

Many people go into the helping profession because they too need help. Sometimes they recognize what they need and make an effort to get it. Other times, they wind up only telling others what they themselves need to learn.

Dr. Hasan needed help and couldn't figure out the appropriate way to get it. We are going to see more eruptions of this sort in the military and not just among the non-coms. Two pointless and futile wars and multiple redeployments in a time of domestic and international social, economic and political retrenchment will only increase the frequency of these violent outbursts here and in other countries.

I don't disagree with anything you wrote but Perry's audience love and crave these simplistic melodramas. His devotees don't want complex plots or characters. I have had discussions, for example, with members of my family who couldn't make heads or tails of movies such as Eve's Bayou or Devil in a Blue Dress but thoroughly enjoy anything that Perry does. It is a battle that I have opted out of. There is nothing than can be done to alter their popular culture preferences.

Is Tyler Perry producing and directing For Colored Girls... or just directing? Is it being done as a film or for stage? Who is doing the screenplay? Ntozake?

I can't see For Colored Girls... being done as a film. I don't know how it would work on the screen. Obviously, a lot of people, including Ntozake, believe that there is a chance to make some money here but it is an odd choice.

During the Zoot Suit Riots, blacks were helping Latinos to fight back against the sailors and police. They were even saving their lives, protecting them from getting beaten up. Or they were even giving them encouragement.

That was back in the day. This is now.

There was a lot more camaraderie and less wariness in Los Angeles between young Blacks and Latinos during the 1940s, 50s and 60s than exists now. I think that you are right about prison culture playing a large role in this turnabout.
