Current problems and outages

My current internet speed is .09 mpbs. That's POINT ZERO NINE. I can't get anything to load and I can't report it to Clink either. Their phone system is "experiencing heavy call volume" and the only thing you can do over the phone is pay your bill. You can't even speak to a customer representative. The online chat bot is also down. You'd think that with everyone working from home that Clink would be more responsive and transparent with their outages, but they don't tell us anything about what's happening. When I try to check status of my service, I always get the same response that there are NO ISSUES anywhere. BS!

Re: Can You Put The Brakes On Audiophile Buzzkill? - Audiophile Review

Great article Mark. I get particularly annoyed when someone posts a hi-fi
version of something, and it is a great pressing indeed but then 12
commenters say it’s not THE BEST because they haven’t compared it to X
release or Y remastering or Z company issue. As a music lover and one
who appreciates good fidelity, I am in search of good sounding records,
but my budget just won’t allow for 10 different pressings of a certain
album just to find THE BEST. Plus, I’m not that obsessive about it. If
the original UK RL pressing of LZII is better than my MOFI, then so be
it, but that MOFI sounds pretty dang good. In summary, it would be nice
if everyone took your position of allowing people to enjoy their
collection instead of bursting their balloon.

Re: Yes' Debut Album Restored, Reissued, Reconsidered, Reviewed Via Record Store Day 180-gram Vinyl, Tidal - Audiophile Review

This was the first RSD purchase I played and I wasn't even intent on buying it. The debut was never one of my favorite Yes albums, it always sounded like a band searching for their sound, while the sound of the record itself (my domestic US copy pressed in the late 70s) was thin and fairly weak. But as I was reaching for the last copy of the album at the store (just to check it out) someone else grabbed it. Luckily, they put it back. I decided to buy it since I wasn't able to score the three albums I really wanted. I'm so glad I did. It outshines every other copy of this I have...the aforementioned late 70s pressing and the early Atlantic CD with a red spine. To have the original cover and a gatefold jacket was cool, and the old-style Atlantic label is the icing on the cake. And what a cake! The sound is so alive and fresh, it was like hearing this album for the first time. I still have a lot of RSD19 purchases to go through, but this one is my favorite so far.

Re: New Podcast! The Cosby Show was a pure delight until Olivia showed up then it went downhill fast. You corrected yourselves!

Great show, and my 3rd favorite Genesis album of all time (After Trick of the Tail and Foxtrot). I always thought Duke had a lot in common with both of these albums; the original Duke suite was reminiscent of "Supper's Ready" and the reprisal ending was like "Los Endos".

For me, the entire album is about losers - people who have lost at love ("Misunderstanding", "Please Don't Ask", "Alone Again"), their careers ("Duchess", "Cul-De-Sac"), and their sanity ("Heathaze", "Turn It On Again"). "Behind The Lines" is a great introductory to the entire book that follows, making it a sort of a concept album - more concept than story, and "Guide Vocal" is a brilliant kiss-off song. I especially like how the lyrics are brought back at the end of the album, with a very important line added. On side 1, it goes "For nobody would understand and you kill what you fear", and on side 2, it is "For nobody would understand and you kill what you fear and you fear what you don't understand". That neatly brings the entire concept full circle. The only song that doesn't quite fit in is "Man Of Our Times" but substituting "Evidence Of Autumn" wouldn't work either since that song really isn't about loss, although I agree it's one of Tony's most beautiful compositions.

One of the reasons the original album sounds so cold is that it was recorded at Polar Studios, where ABBA did most of their recordings too - and we all know they sound as cold and brittle as the Swedish snow covered mountains. I agree that vinyl is the way to go for this one. I recommend finding a Japanese pressing of Duke. I have one and it was manufactured with great care.

As for the attack of Tourette's Syndrome on the live version of "Turn It On Again", I think it's fitting. The singer is so lost in his world of television, it's the only way he can relate to the world. He needs the TV turned back on, and he needs it turned BACK ON NOW DAMMIT, TURN IT ON AGAIN!!!!!!!! If you listen closely, you'll hear Phil's vocal is very closely tied to Chester's drumming. If people think Phil is underrated as a drummer, they should consider Chester Thompson as well.

How about a show on either the self-titled album by Emmit Rhodes or "Band On The Run" by Macca? One that everyone knows vs. one everyone should know.

Re: The Best '30 Rock' One-Liners | Rolling Stone

Tracy: Who's crazier? The rest is half-baked unfinished demo quality stuff. I guess it was really a huge disappointment for me when I bought the album as a 9 year old kid, spending my hard-earned $4 on it and it only contained 2 good songs. AND, after the regal majesty that is "Abbey Road", well, I guess I'm still a tad bitter about it. As an aside, I also bought the self-titled album from Emitt Rhodes the same day, and that album is so excellent, it kind of made up for the disappointment of McCartney.
