That's a very important point and I'm glad you brought it up. I started using the Pastel Invoicing package which helps me keep an eye on my business and my accountant can still easily extract what she needs to. It's quite a lifesaver. However, since I moved to Linux, there's nothing like that (from Pastel) that I can use, so I started using an online solution which allows me to export the info in a Pastel-friendly way. So, definitely, chat to your bookkeeper about his/her needs - they will know how to save you money. Don't just buy something because it's cheap!

Pretoria I don't know but, in Joburg, there's a wonderful shop and restaurant called Fruits and Roots in Bryanston. I did their web site, where you can learn more info, at www.fruitsandroots.co.za. We've eaten there and bought a few things and it's really the tastiest, healthiest stuff and they're incredibly friendly and warm. Hope this helps :)

I hear you and agree with what you've said but I think you missed Sean's
point. He's saying, instead of calling yourself XYZ Design, focus on a niche
part of design and, then, when your client asks if you can do something else
he/she needs, you can get that work too. I'm talking from personal
experience when I say that by focusing on a niche, you improve your
conversions and lower your marketing costs!

Nice article, Ed. Part of the equation, I think, is perspective and experience. Some people would say that we've already met up with aliens but, because they looked just like us, we didn't recognise them. Jesus, Buddha, The Dalai Lama, etc. They're considered pilgrim souls who undertake to "visit" us and show us how to live better. That's about as blunt as I can put it.

Back to my experience point, to some people, these people are holy, to others, they're aliens, and to some others still, they're masters who have attained enlightenment. And then, to some skeptics, they're just normal people who didn't do anything special at all.

My question is, why can't we all be right and leave it be? Let me have my master, you your alien, and him (points randomly in the space between us) his Lord and saviour.

I'm not allowed to edit the article to fix the typo but thanks :) I have to agree, working from home rocks. Nothing beats the short commute, being able to eat when you want to and working in your boxer shorts in the summer :D

I'm hoping to use the Disqus module on www.freearticles.co.za. So far, it looks as though I haven't configured it right but I'll get there.

I'm stoked to have such a cool commenting system to use, at long last. I can't say I like Drupal's built-in system at all!
