Maddow and Olbermann are commentators whose arrogant and narrow-minded opinions are a scourge in MSM. They are the very components in society that drive the right even further right - which is NOT a good thing. So why waste time listening to them?! They don't have anything worthwhile to contribute until they can control their sneering, snarky, disrespectful attitudes. They bring the UGLY out. One of the worst moments Olbermann had really opened my eyes to the hate behind his views. His post VP debate commentary was nothing short of lewd barfing on the interested viewers! It sickened me to watch him and I will never again spend more than one second looking at or listening to him again.

An excerpt from S. Kurtz's "Wright 101" -->The adolescent Rites of Passage movement that flowered in the 1990s grew out of the “cultural nationalist” or “Pan-African” thinking popular in radical black circles of the 1960s and 1970s." (You can find out more if you google "Rites of Passage and Obama" together.) And then take a moment to read the following (an excerpt from Saul Alinsky's Primer for Radicals):

From Rules for Radicals, Alinsky outlines his strategy in organizing, writing:
"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution."[2] http://latter-rain.com/ltrain/alinski.htm

Emphasis: They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. OKAY. Obama has started a revolution. But do YOU understand which kind of revolution it really is: militant black? progressive liberal? ANYTHING other than what we've had? or is he what he claims to be: Christian, pro-America, catalyst for the right kind of change in the Whitehouse?

How can we KNOW? We can't - we trust, or we don't.

Re: King doesn’t trust Obama because of his upbringing

The antithesis of Obama's educational justice for our black citizenry is this:
"Political issues are a distraction," he says, "from personal, psychological issues—things that happen in our households." The problems of his community are "not about racism," he insists. "They are about deep emotional deficits. Our young men are growing up dysfunctional, and instead of trying to help them, we blame white people. We champion the problem and call it a virtue. If you're not angry or psychotic, you're denying your blackness."
http://www.city-journal.org/html/5_3_a1.html

Instead, Obama's values and, YES, upbringing have led him onto the Annenburg path, where young blacks are 're-educated' using:
"Rites of Passage
To learn what the rites of passage movement was all about, we can turn to a sympathetic 1992 study published in the Journal of Negro Education by Nsenga Warfield-Coppock. In that article, Warfield-Coppock bemoans the fact that public education in the United States is shaped by “capitalism, competitiveness, racism, sexism and oppression.” According to Warfield-Coppock, these American values “have confused African American people and oriented them toward American definitions of achievement and success and away from traditional African values.” American socialization has “proven to be dysfuntional and genocidal to the African American community,” Warfield-Coppock tells us. The answer is the adolescent rites of passage movement, designed “to provide African American youth with the cultural information and values they would need to counter the potentially detrimental effects of a Eurocentrically oriented society.”

The adolescent rites of passage movement that flowered in the 1990s grew out of the “cultural nationalist” or “Pan-African” thinking popular in radical black circles of the 1960s and 1970s." -- Wright 101, S.Kurtz

Re: King doesn’t trust Obama because of his upbringing

Imagine, a politician with an 'undisciplined mouth'? He says we have not got a SUSTAINABLE energy policy. He indicates there are more efficient biofeeds available like sugar cane.

Obama supports a tariff (on Brazilian sugar cane?) that may well be illegal under the World Trade Organization’s rules; and, just an aside, a big corn-ethanol investor Tom Daschle is a key adviser of his.

Why federal subsidies? I would think states with corn economies should do the subsidizing. But Obama links the subsidies to national security - independence from oil countries. Wouldn't a comprehensive, sustainable energy plan be more intelligent?

Re: Flashback from McCain in Ankeny: Palin’s pork project connected to Minneapolis bridge disaster

This is not "pork" spending that Palin legislated. The Gravina Access Project was one of 17 high priority projects in the state of Alaska funded by the “Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century." All states have access to the federal infrastructure funds for improving their tourism, their surface transportation, their business and land development. (For each State, the Act specifies a certain share of the aggregate funding for the following programs: Interstate Maintenance (IM), National Highway System (NHS), Bridge, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement, Surface Transportation Program (STP), Metropolitan Planning, High Priority Projects, Appalachian Development Highway System, Recreational Trails...)

Alaska's previous governor, Murkowski, was involved in early evaluations of the state's infrastructure needs. No real progress was made until Sarah Palin's Secretary of Transportation studied appropriate ways to utilize the available funding resources. The Gravina Access project was controversial and difficult to implement for many reasons. And Palin had to halt the stalled project in order to do something more immediately productive with the infrastructure funds available to the state. http://gov.state.ak.us/archive.php?id=623&type=1

Re: UI Hawkeye Poll: 42 percent of voters can’t identify Obama’s religion

RegJoe, what feeds YOUR prejudices? If GOP prejudice flows out of ignorance, mis-information and dogma, then please extol the virtues of being an Obama worshipper so GOPs everywhere can become enlightened. I wish we could stop the ridicule factor in political discussions. I find liberals/democrats to be extremely mocking, antagonistic people who care little about respecting others and preserving dignity. Also, if you think that religion- or lack of- isn't a huge player in what motivates or guides a person, you are limited in your power of reason. Theocracies are usually oppressive and repressive forces in a culture. Ideologies are important too - research 'Afrocentrist separatist' and see if you like that model for America.

Re: GOP congressional candidate accuses McCain of ‘gay pride’

I believe that Senator McCain feels it should be decided at the state level. Seventy-two percent of those who believe Obama is Muslim have not graduated from college. Moreover, the poll found that nearly 14 percent of those who identify themselves as born-again or evangelical Christian think Obama is a Muslim, compared to 6.6 percent of non-evangelical voters."

COULDN'T BE SOMETHING BIASED IN THE POLLING QUESTIONS, COULD THERE? Many thinking, educated people have legitimate concerns about the influence of Obama's formative years. And, it would seem that in his political years it was expedient to partner-up with a Christian identity (albeit, a variant form of Christianity).

Here's a source of some good reading (esp Wright101): http://www.eppc.org/ spelling out many of the reasons why McCain is the only choice for this period in American history. I really feel that Obama needs to cure a bit longer in the Congress and run for President when we have a better handle on the state of foreign affairs in the Middle East. Here's an informative link on the complexities of the troops withdrawal timeline: http://www.understandingwar.org/timeline-sofa-n.... As you read these things, bear in mind the controversies over Obama's heritage and ask yourself this, how can I be assured that Obama has a deeper loyalty to America and American Heritage than he does for his father's kin and sharia law? I do NOT believe Obama is a terrorist. I believe he is an important leader of this nation and a fascinating man with something important to contribute to this society. However, since Obama is not inclined to make a public confession of his Christian faith, it is not out of line to wonder if his studies of the Quran between the formative years of 2 and 10 took seed in his heart. I think he needs more wisdom and judgement before being handed this heavy baton in foreign policy. I am fearful of the star status and the amount of campaign funding coming from Islamic nations to Obama (http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/08/obamas_d...), as well as how the likes of Louis Farrakhan perceive Obama's rise to power. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha5HEc-vOJs

Re: McCain robocall tries to tie Obama to Ayers

Want to know more? At least until the war is over.

"Obama is the product of a brief early-60s college romance and short-lived marriage between a black African exchange student and a white liberal Kansan who met at the University of Hawaii. His critical boyhood years--from two to ten--were spent neither in white nor black America but in the teeming streets and jungle outskirts of Djakarta. Obama's boyhood experiences in Indonesia--where his mother took him when she married another foreign exchange student--propelled him toward a worldview well beyond his mother's liberalism." ---http://www.chicagoreader.com/features/stories/archive/barackobama/

Project Vote is a front for Acorn:
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/obama-claims...

Re: Obama up by 12 in Register’s Iowa Poll

I haven't been polled....I appreciate Grassley. Palin is inspiring. McCain is a Patriot. The Hawkeye State isn't limited to just the university population and it hasn't had it's full say yet. I say Democrats are blaming Republicans for the mess we're in so I think that mess should be handed over to the Republicans to fix! I also believe Obama would be a far better president after the Iraq War is concluded and he's had a little more Senate time.

Re: Hawkeye Poll: Obama leads McCain in Iowa

Small business owners who are the backbone of the economy and low unemployment generally get hurt by raising minimum wages. When they are hurt, they have to layoff employees. What good is a minimum wage then? Don't vote your pocketbook - Obama's center of the universe is the people's taxes. You support him and he decides how to distribute. Judging the effectiveness in his use of funding in the Annenburg project, that should be a huge concern to voters. But the bigger concern should be foreign relations and how many eastern and fundamentalist Islamic countries view him as a tribal brother and potential ally with them. Is Obama strong enough to resist the temptation of not just American, but global, infatuation with him? If he does get himself elected, we better hope for a Republican Congress to implement important 'checks and balances'. Just thinking.....

Re: Pundits wonder why McCain is returning to Iowa

IT TAKES A GLOBAL VILLAGE OR PATRIOT ROOTS?

Something I've been thinking about as we approach the election of THIS country's leadership for the next four years might be of some help to others who, like me, get lost in all the complicated issues, information/mis-information, rumors, and pundit opinions hurricaning our brains as we seek contextual understanding of our candidates positions. Without making any judgements of the personal choice each of us concludes to, I think one important question every American voter should ask and seriously think on is this: Is the vision for America one of progressive change that adopts European principles? Or is the vision for America's future best rooted on the uniquely "western" qualities by which our land has prospered for 230 plus years? I think that voting choices made on the current dire problems with our economy alone is pretty short-sighted. Too much tampering or inadequate oversight are behaviors that can be corrected if "we the people" demand it and hold our elected accountable. Based on the longevity and overall success of our system, the fundamentals probably ARE just fine, it would seem to me.

Support for Obama is strong and so it is with a sense of speaking into the "tyranny of majority" that I state my preference here for "values" voting. I value, and do relate to, leaders with background experiences that are deeply rooted in "American" culture and history - that I can recognize as similar to mine and my founding ancestors. I mean that there can be no mistaking that a western quality of life HAS been the defining life experience of McCain (AND Palin). But if you consider the developmental experiences in Obama's upbringing and childhood, you can see why he may be inclined to lead our country into a "euro-style" America (think also Eurabia and read his father's life works). While impressively unique, Obama's life spent in places around the globe and his "it takes a village" parentage, lends itself into the notion I have that Obama is a bit too unfettered by any ancestral ties to THIS country, and may even be motivated to lay groundwork for re-casting this nation with the helpful collaboration of dictators and fascists. I think that if you like heavier-handed socialism and the way countries like Holland, for instance, have been governed; if you believe citizenry there is happier than we are, and if you despise American 'cowboys' or the zealous patriot, preferring your alignment to be with certain "elitists" - you know the right ticket to vote for. On the other hand, if you were raised in small-town America, taught the Golden Rule, and had siblings/parents who lived and were raised up in the same country as you, the choice should be even more obvious. It seems to me that McCain and Palin inarguably have deeper roots in this country. I believe that is one valid measure of who is best to lead this western nation forward.
