Sorry to hear about that, will definitely keep him in my prayers. I've always admired him because of his character and integrity. Good to know he's still going strong in spite of the disease. One of the players on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jason Blake, was diagnosed with the same type of leukemia a couple of years ago and it's been managed well enough to this point that he's still playing.

I heard the promo for this while driving to work this morning. My eyes rolled so far back I almost caused an accident.

What cracks me up is how the mainstream media is shocked, shocked I tell you, that FLOTUS has white people in her family tree. Do white people honestly think we came off the boat with all these different shades, grades of hair, etc.? What's more how much you wanna bet that if it was just Michelle Obama, attorney at law, that Ms. Debbie wouldn't be so quick to claim blood. I'm cynical like that.

And when you point out that the gains we made didn't happen overnight, and that it took decades (hell, centuries) of chipping away the resistance through countless marches, sit-ins, and (unfortunately) the sacrifice of lives, nobody wants to hear it. I'm sick of folks co-opting the Civil Rights Movement without wanting to do the heavy lifting. Nobody is going to hand your rights to you, you have to get off your ass and do something about it.

I really want to support the movement, but these idiots in the blogosphere make it so damn hard.

I think it's kind of funny that her and Mr. Hair are both courting the KKK vote when the Texas demographics seem to be moving the opposite way. Many thanks for the link. I didn't know much about Keflezighi's background before this week, sad to say. If the Keflezighi family isn't the true personification of the American Dream I don't know who would be. Rovell and his ilk should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

How about that? I almost didn't find this place. After staying away from JJP for a month I decided to go back there for a minute to see if folks got back to their senses. It took me 5 seconds to figure out they hadn't but I saw Webb's link to WEE and decided to check it out. It felt like coming home. Sounds hokey but true. I really missed being with posters that even in the most heated of dicussions could air their differences with respect and sometimes humor. That's practically non-existent in most places on the blogosphere. JJP had something really special and unique and they blew it.

Damn Webb, don't hurt 'em (LOL). But seriously though, I started seeing the writing on the wall at JJP in the beginning of the summer. In spite of giving the side eye to the moderators over their almost overnight 180 turn against PBO (which now makes perfect sense), I decided to stick it out because by and large I really enjoyed the community of posters.

My breaking point came in late August. The atmopshere there had become really toxic...I don't have to get into details, y'all were there. Alexander2 called out the mods for letting the place become a free for all a la Daily Kos, and there were a few of us who posted our concerns as well. So what happens next? Rikyrah lets loose on a front-page diatribe saying in so many words that if JJP has to be compared to Daily Kos then so be it, that Obama supporters need to stop drinking the kool aid and wake up. I haven't posted there since.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I want any blog to be pro-Obama, all the time...if he does wrong we gots to speak up. But the constant bashing at JJP that was based on nothing more than innuendo and spin got to be more than I was willing to put up with. I harbor no ill will toward the crew over there, I wish them the best; but it's disappointing that they let the blog sink into the muck of shouting and petulance. They could have been so much better than that. Hope the 30 pieces of silver was worth it.
