That location of Domino's is also missing promotional opportunities, as well. They could easily reach out to the local community, inviting people to come and talk to them, sponsor an anti-hunger outreach program, etc., not to mention Free Pizza day, etc.

I know the traditional PR strategy is to "duck and cover" when a crisis hits, but I think there's nothing as trust-building as radical, personal transparency. Crises are always opportunities for engagement. Hosting a chat on twitter, since that is where the conversation is already happening, would be great. Eliciting comments and suggestions about product and service in such a setting might be powerful.

Re: Micro?

I think you're probably right here, Chris. These are new words for things that already have names, in many cases. Remember "niche marketing"? It's really just marketing. All these pre-fixes (new, social, micro, hyper, etc.) will fall away on their own as the "new" methods become regarded simply as "methods".

Re: Why marketers don’t understand the Amazon Kindle (or Kindle 2)

If I commuted via rail or bus, I'd definitely buy this. I just don't have enough time away from my computer to make this a justifiable purchase yet. Cool tool or toy, yes. But in this economy I'm still more focused on necessities. Top of the list for things to buy myself with a raise, though!

Re: They just didn't think it through #147

oh dear :( First three links rely defy the definition "brand awareness", eh? Either that, or They Just Didn't Care. Don't know which is worse. Fourth link (the UK one) is legit, though.

Re: Want to know who’s next to fall?

I know there was a red flag about WaMu (WM) around this time as well. I know Chase was courting WM - perhaps that offer is looking a little sweeter now? Also, what do you make of Peter Schiff's assessment of BAC's purchase of Merrill Lynch as a way of positioning themselves as "too big to fail", thus making them eligible for a possible subsequent bailout, unlike Lehman Bros.?
