However, neither is the sort of robust application that can replace a standard GPS unit.

Re: TomTom Releases $99 GPS App For Your iPhone

There is no mention anywhere that TomTom is actually going to give you the windshield mount for free if you purchase the app. If you go to their site, it simply says that you need two things to add their navigation to the iPhone; the app and the kit. It is possible that they will offer the two as a bundle at some point, but for now, only the app is available by itself on the App Store. As such, you will have to make an extra purchase to prevent the inevitable draining of your phone's battery.

Re: OhGizmo! I'm sure that due to its smaller size we'll start seeing it edge out miniUSB on portable devices, but while we're in this transitioning phase, most people are only going to have one or two that use it, if any. That's no fault of Mophie, as the more companies that begin using it, the more common it will become.

Re: Tiny Drive Holds 16GB And Reads Your MicroSD Cards

True, but this one already has 16GB built-in. The actual quote is "there will be scenarios where we have stores in proximity to Apple." They don't say that they're intentionally placing them right next to Apple, but that it will end up happening. Apple usually picks good locations for their stores, so it wouldn't be surprising if Microsoft plants a store down on the same block.

Now if Microsoft started dropping all of their stores in right next to Apple, then it might seem a little more intentional.

Re: EATR Sniper Bot Refuels By Consuming Human Bodies

It may not have been what the designers had in mind. Apparently what happened is that with the new Director 2.0, new zombies, characters, etc. it would have been a gigantic update. Rather than trying to get everything to work with the old game, they decided that it would be a wiser choice to just go ahead and put everything into a nice new game. Am I bummed that I'm going to have to pay for a new game? Yes. However, after playing it, the new features definitely seem worth the cash.

As for the quick release, that comes partially from the new Director being able to control the actions of the game, rather than having to sit down and script every single action as like in HL.

Re: Glace Luxury Ice Company’s Ice Spheres -$8 A Pop

"hand-carved in Canada'

Now I know what David does with all of his spare time!

Re: Audioquest Introduces DIY HDMI Cables

This of course is assuming extremely large values of 8 and 9.

I'm still one short? Help?

I agree with Chance on the dual monitors, as they are great for productivity. However, for the sake of cost, we should go with 19-inch screens.

However, I'd scale things back a bit in the power department since it's only a Home Office computer. A cheaper Core 2 Duo E7300 should be plenty of power, with 2GB of RAM. Same goes for the RAID 5 configuration. It has its benefits, but we are on a budget. A single SATA drive with an external drive for backup should do.

I spent a little extra on a nicer case, because in my experience you get what you pay for in a case. The power supplies that come in those don't usually last long, so I've included a nicer one here.

A couple of things that were left out of Chance's list include an optical drive (an inexpensive IDE DVD burner is just fine), keyboard/mouse and of course the OS. I put in Vista Business, but that is just personal preference, and XP Pro can be had for the exact same price.

Shipping does usually play a factor (since you have to pay it) so I've selected a few of my items based on their shipping cost (opting for ones that had free shipping helped significantly) and drove it down to only a mere $22 (depending on your location).

Final cost at the end of the day (including shipping): $999.22

Here's a link to the full part list at NewEgg.
http://secure.newegg.com/Wi...

Re: Jeremy Kipnis’ $6 Million Home Theater

Personally, my ultimate home theater would be designed to look like the bridge of a Star Destroyer. My memory, however, fails me at times.

The correct number of pieces is 7, however, the site I sourced came up with 13. After I investigated further, I found that on the manufacturer's site they list only 7. Thus they are close to $50 each. I corrected the dollar amount, but failed to change the listed number of pieces.

I've corrected this, and decided to purchase one of those memory games for my DS tomorrow....if I remember.

Re: BoomCooler Is Good For Booming, Not So Much For Cooling

I'd like to think that Ace, but there's no mention whatsoever of a powered cooling system.
