The U.S. has a right to enforce its laws, including immigration laws. The people who are more responsible for the deaths in the desert are those inside the U.S. (and the leaders of MX) who encourage people to cross. If the far-left wasn't so supportive of illegal activity, many fewer people would try to cross, resulting in fewer deaths. Instead, the far-left is like a local sociopath who cuts a hole in a fence around an abandoned swimming pool in order to "help" the kids in the neighborhood.

Weigel is certainly earning his $oro$ bucks today! An outright lie about Dobbs in the morning, and now trying to spin this latest news to the Democrats' advantage in the afternoon.

In fact, what Weigel should be doing is offering an apology to Bachmann for being such a hack. Read what he did here. That post lists over a dozen others who tried to profit politically from a tragedy.

As I pointed out in comments on his site (whether it sunk in or not), the way McCain should deal with smears like those perpetrated by folks like Ben Smith of The Politico is to point out that they lie about objective facts. As discussed at the link, BSmith has repeatedly lied about simple, easy-to-understand facts. Most people aren't going to trust the opinions offered by those who've been shown to be liars.

The same applies to Dave Weigel; he's repeatedly lied. Not only that, but he wrote about me on his personal site and then - after I signed up and left a reply - he refused to approve my reply. What sort of person would do things like that?

If McCain's reading this, you know what to do.

"unproductive and divisive rhetoric that exaggerates and distorts the facts" is, for most of those who support "reform", just a euphemism for "we need to shut up those who support our laws".

Meanwhile, perhaps one of these days religious leaders would like to tell us why they are in effect encouraging people to risk their lives in the desert. "Reform" wouldn't solve that: it would only make it worse by encouraging people to come here by any means necessary in order to take part in the then-current or future "reforms".

One of these days, I'm going to find someone who's good at questioning people to really press Wallis on that, and he's not going to end up looking very good at all.

Of course, given the fact that Rubio is supported by Karl Rove and Jeb Bush is "neutral", and given the fact that Rubio's immigration position is probably quite GWB-like, the idea that he isn't establishment is pretty absurd. (Note also that this is probably yet another example of the TeaParty tools supporting someone whose policies would raise their taxes and reduce their power).

You know what would be funny? If, while he's up there, Weigel asked Hoffman these questions. Getting "good" answers from him on those could cause his support to drop, but at the same time Mr. Soros might not like the topic of the questions. So, it's probably best to check with Soros first.

Also, what's funny about this is that Hoffman appears to support policies that would increase spending and raise taxes on his tea party supporters. Maybe someone who's familiar with that issue should ask him about that at one of his appearances.

I don't know where all these people are coming from, but the goal of the great majority of the comments from BHO fans is to simply create noise. 1. I've been running the linked website since 2002, and before then it was hosted at a site I started in 1995. If anyone lies about my sites, I am perfectly willing to sue them for libel and I will not hesitate to collect the judgment. Of course, those smearing below aren't naming specific sites, they're just trying to smear all BHO opponents and trying to get you from learning the truth.

2. In case you missed it, here's just one of the things Dave Weigel doesn't want you to see. That focuses only on a false assumption the judge made that may indicate bias, or ignorance, or that he has a problem with engaging in sloppy thinking. That doesn't involve who has burden of proof; it involves a flaw in the judge's thinking that might indicate problems elsewhere in the ruling.

3. If you're wondering why Dave Weigel didn't tell you about that, see the link. He is not in any way a credible source.

4. If the "N.B.C. brigade" were able to give me some assistance, hacks like Weigel wouldn't write things like this, others wouldn't smear you, and the judge might have been more careful in his ruling. My main goal is to show that the MSM and others have repeatedly lied about the simple facts of this matter, yet I've gotten almost zero help in doing that. And, that's why you see articles like this.
