Well, suicide/mental illness disproportianely affects veterans, so I think they are more than qualifed to have done research and formed conclusions based on evidence.

Thanks for the article. Look forward to more coverage in the print edition. I'm a Mueller Affordable homeowner, and it's funny to watch TCAD try to spin this their way. They refused to acknowledge the legal merits of the affordable homeowners until they were forced to by mediation. I'm glad they settled, but all their talk of wanting to reach an agreement is saving face. Too bad they can't go after corporations with the same doggedness they reserved for the affordable homeowners.

I agree. Bernie has been very lukewarm about Obama. I was planning on voting for him about nine months ago but I have been underwhelmed by his campaign and tone deafness toward minority voters. Bernie fans don't help him out by continuing to cite an incident from the 1960s. We all know he is a consistent liberal who believes in racial and gender equality, but there is a difference in believing it, and living it.

Bernie hasn't shown real passion for women's rights or racial justice. His passion is the banksters/big money politics, etc. That is great but it is not going to translate well with a lot of Democrats. His most recent comment about Minnesotans being too smart to vote for Hillary, is shockingly insulting to Black voters and South Carolinian Democrats.

Somehow I am not surprised that you think child protective services agencies have a bad name. In fact, the most legitimate criticism they receive is that they don't do enough to protect children. Your argument seems to be unless you witnessed sexual abuse occur or there is some DNA evidence than it is just he said, she said. In fact, most sexual abuse of children produces no physical evidence. Everything Dylan has written is consistent with her having been a victim of sexual abuse. If you choose not to believe her, I really don't care.

I work in the child protective services field and I believe Woody Allen is a pedophile. All his behaviors line up with what pedophiles do and how they behave. Everyone keeps trashing Mia but this isn't about Mia. This is about Dylan and she was the victim. She also has explicit memories of the abuse that occurred because she was old enough to remember. For people who work in the field and actually know how pedophiles operate this story rings very true.

I was an adjunct professor in a community college English department and hated it. The pay was awful and they forced me to grade and use the textbooks they picked out. It was so labor intensive I doubt I made 10 bucks an hour. I quit, got a full time job with benefits, and am working on a novel. My social work has given me way more life experiences to hone my craft than teaching did. Most of my friends teach and it is weird the way they get so wrapped up in their students lives. They are poor and okay with it mostly.

But this premise is very flawed. Last time they raised the debt ceiling Obama said no negotiations, and it was done on the sly by House Republicans. Why did Boehner quietly expand the debt ceiling last time without any concessions if he thought Obama was so weak? I think Boehner is playing a very dangerous game and nobody has an idea what it is. However this idea that Boehner has a strong hand here is just right wing spin. I think Boehner has no idea what he's doing and no strategy at all. That is terrifying.

This is awful. In cases like these it is the judges who decide if there is enough abuse or neglect to warrant removal and CPS only gives a recommendation. CPS gets blamed even though they probably recommended permanent removal.

Journalists are helping destroy democracy. They should realize if Romney manages to win after releasing hardly any of his tax returns, not outlining an honest agenda, and lying about everything all the time, that is what every presidential candidate will do from here on out. The press is supposed to enforce a certain set of rules on behalf of the American people, and they are failing to do so miserably. It is truly a sad time for the press and America. By the way, I still think Obama will win, but it will be in spite of the poor job done by the press.
