Don't know about JBob's inference that McCain started the fire (actually McCain had crashed only 2 planes by that time) but, according to this article, once he got out of his plane virtually unscathed, McCain made a bee-line to the pilots' ready room where he stayed throughout the conflagration and WATCHED it on the Forrestall's close-circuit TV. Meanwhile other pilots on deck who also escaped the fire actually joined in and lead fire suppression efforts.

Perhaps it's even scarier to think that McCain might just have let the truth slip out this time: He voted FOR the bill BECAUSE it "is putting us on the brink of economic disaster." Did McCain just admit that he IS the Manchurian Candidate? Naw!! I'm beginning to think the truth is that McCain doesn't KNOW what he's saying any more - the man is sicker than the campaign wants us to know. McCain ought to be compelled to release his medical records, in full.
