Marketing wise, i think this will work, with all the contest perks included. However, it's quite interesting why the organizers are not giving out free handy phones.

Wow, that is some serious bucks, if ever the court will agree with the "spam victims'" complains, and a good lesson to mobile marketing companies (and their clients) to be careful on their SMS promotions.

I must say it depends on the company policy, but if there was a budget set for each employees' communication expense, then an employee spending that much will be in trouble.

This is one great example on how important and powerful a CTA (call to action) is.

Three important factors I see here:
First, simple and easy to understand CTA
Second, the frequency of how many times the CTA was mentioned
Third, great media avenue (popular host and television)

As per observation, instead of snail mails, teens and tweens would rather make friends or pals via facebook and myspace, or go to online chat communities. Then, by the time they made new friends, they would start communicating via email. They prefer the fast way. :)

As for Nathan’s case, he correctly texted "Does everybody here know the alphabet? Let's text. Here it goes ... AbcDeFghiJKlmNoPQrStuvWXy & Z! Now I know my A-B-C's, next time won't you text with me?" in just 60 seconds, amazingly crazy. The texting event he joined was sponsored by LG.

I think there should be an International Texting Competition since texting competition has become an annual event for most countries.

Like for instance in the US when the 20-year-old Nathan Schwartz was hailed as the National Texting Champion and grabbed the $50,000 cash prize.

Hmmm... do i see big network providers raising their hands for sponsorship? :)

If you are on the mobile marketing industry, blogging is one effective tool to reach target. Press releases are good, but you need to sustain the buzz. So better inform your PR firms about the big opportunity they are missing if they ignore big opportunities of having big online coverage by these respected mobile marketing analysts and journalists.

The $88 billion forecast is not impossible. With more and more companies and organizations recognizing the advantages of integrating SMS mobile marketing in their campaigns, the industry will continue to grow and earn more revenue.

Another factor that adds to the expected increase is that most individuals- from tweens to busy business people are after convenience. They would rather pay to get important and urgent message from a handy mobile device they can use anytime and anywhere they want, instead of going to an office or a coffee shop to get an internet connection to access the information they need.

UK is not the only SMS mobile destination. SMS mobile marketing is also big in North America and South East Asia. Everybody is seeing the effectiveness and convenience of using SMS on campaigns.

Obama planned his campaign very well by choosing the mediums which he can use to directly interact with his supporters, who are mostly the young voters. He got into interactive website, social network sites, and SMS campaigns. Even politicians are recognizing the power of mobile technology nowadays.
