And I am not talking about your vote. Please remember that labor unions are not primarily a social
movement, but a part of it. Union leaders are elected by the membership, which are often more diverse politically than many people believe. Also remember that the labor movement always has, and always will, face a stacked deck. Only by sticking together do working people stand a decent chance. This means that we may sometimes have to accept something that is less than 100% pure. Find common ground for the common good.

Re: Obama Pressed on Syrian Endgame

Solidarity brothers and sisters! Are you saying that you would not get behind that?

Occupy has jump started the liberal movement with a very generalized strategy that has a fairly broad appeal. It seems to me that a liberal coalition could begin to make headway if we don't expend our energy fighting each other.

Re: Progressive Election Strategy and the Norman Solomon Campaign

I agree with your drawing out of the loyalists and the purists, and will add Mr Solomon to my list of candidates to support. My thanks to BZM at Russophile for the link.
Like many aspects of conservative policy, the intonement of religion is a cover for the advancement of corporate interests. When Yeltsin was playing ball, everything was fine as far as the Economist and the Wall Street Journal were concerned. Now that Russia has resisted the corporate takeover, right wing organizations such as Freedom House and the Center for Security policy are working overtime to vilify Russia. Most Americans do not hear the other side of the story so Mr. Kasparov can appear on Bill Maher with his outrageous anti-Putin act. Maher and his audience swallowed it whole and they are supposedly thoughtful liberals.
