Because it provides a point of comparison that illustrates the issue: the fact that he’s got almost as much as she does despite that he hasn’t run for office in 6 years is weird.

My impression is that purple hairs are like the woke -- whoever the speaker disagrees with enough to want to use a flexible slur for.

But I'll admit, I've been to Maine a fair amount, and most of the people I saw had regular hair.

Even if he'd done that, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy they could pressure out.

He keeps brazening it through, and it keeps working, so I don't see why he'd stop.

Yeah, I don't live there either. I just don't think there was any real doubt that he'd win, just by how much the scandals would hurt him.

Since he appears to be performing consistent with the top end of his polling numbers, or close to it, it looks like the answer to that may be: They didn't hurt him at all.

Whether they'll hurt him in November, we dunno yet.

His professional work seems pretty slight, from what I can see.

His academic work is that he's got a BA in History, an MBA and he's a non-practicing lawyer. That takes some work, but it's not anything lots of other people in Congress can say.

I'm not swooning over Platner, either. I wish Maine was going to nominate someone else. I wish the same of NY-12.

I'm sure there are a few unwashed masses still living in NY-12, but not many. It's got the highest per capita income of any congressional district in the US.

I have no problem with Kennedys in principle, but this one's a lightweight with very little work experience at all, who's got a profile because of his family and from being a social-media influencer. Him, we don't need in Congress.

There are actual public servants running. And then there's Schlossberg and George Conway, trying to suck up all the oxygen. I hope NY-12 is smart enough to go for someone who wants to work, rather than someone who wants to preen for the cameras.

But we have ways of storing and delivering power, and can and should work on making those better, rather than pretending none of them exist.
