While I wish Michael Steele good luck in his new position, I see his selection as a ploy for the GOP to make Blacks and other minorities feel like the party is suddenly pro minorities and anti racists.

Why is this NOT a good deal for Barack Obama and us Tax payers that he doesn't want to use Tax payers money to run for office?

If Obama declines to feed at the public trough for his campaign, why is that NOT a good thing, as long as special interests are NOT funding his campaign?

And has that NOT being the case, since a VAST majority of his campaign money comes from little folks donating a few dollars at a time on the internet?

It sounds to me like John McCain, and others who are taking Obama to task for refusing to limit himself to public money are DEATHLY AFRAID of what his fundraising PROWESS will do to them in the campaign money chase.

Give me a break, already!

While I AGREE with today's majority opinion that "all enemy combatants detained during a war, at least insofar as they are confined in an area away from the battlefield, [but] over which the United States exercises 'absolute and indefinite' control, may seek a writ of habeas corpus in federal court," I also AGREE with Chief Justice Roberts (and his fellow dissenters) that the Writ can be suspended in time of war, such as the war on terror that we find ourselves involved in right now, and that suspension power belongs to Congress, such as Congress has exercised in this case, "as the Constitution surely allows Congress to [wield]."

I guess one can REASONABLY conclude that the Court's Majority knew where they wanted to end up, and proceeded to get there, however s-l-o-w-l-y they weaved their way through precedential minefield!
