On the health care debate. he said he was for the "public option", but would really like to see a single payer plan, except that single payer would abridge his party's campaign promise that people could keep the plans they have, and that's why he couldn't support it.

So besides supporting health (insurance) care reform which, as it is being rolled out, stills scares the hell out of most americans, http://bit.ly/gb5qIA , especially seniors, as they see more doctors refusing to accept Medicare patients, I haven't heard or read much beyond the usual pap.

I want to hear and read specifics on what a Senator Heinrich would do to address the nation's top concern, http://bit.ly/9oDGIh , the economy. For you to say that "I" seem very concerned about the deficit is disingenuous at best.

Heinrich, as a candidate, will face many more pointed questions from the other candidate(s) and the public.

While I appreciate that Sen Bingaman is a thoughtful, erudite and and intelligent man with significant expertise on energy; with original thinking in this area that does not follow in lockstep with the far left of his party, I don't see Heinrich in the same way.

You are free to believe whatever you like, as am I.

Re: Heinrich: GOP used ‘seniors as a human shield’ for the rich in House budget vote

The reason I mentioned Obama is this:

"It’s a vision that says that in order to reduce the deficit, we have to end Medicare as we know it, and make cuts to Medicaid that would leave millions of seniors, poor children and Americans with disabilities without the care they need," Obama said.

And:

“Republicans voted today to end Medicare—using our nation’s seniors as a human shield for the ultra-rich,” Heinrich said

The FACT is that he is parroting the leader of his party. The FACT is that he offers no ideas of his own. He goes on to say:

’ll continue working to reduce the deficit but not on the backs of New Mexico seniors or the middle class.”, but he offers no specific ideas of his own. That was my opening comment.

He's got to do better than that if he's going to win the Senate race. Would you at least agree that it will be an interesting race, or have you already made your mind up?

Re: Heinrich: GOP used ‘seniors as a human shield’ for the rich in House budget vote

According to the latest Gallup poll, only 41% of voters "like" Obama.

As to Heinrich, I can agree with his positions on animal rights, but that's about it.

http://bit.ly/fGYCBA

When he runs for the Senate, he's going to have to take some independent positions that matter to ALL of New Mexico, not just District One, and his support base of liberal democrats. Dissing the GOP as he did, won't win any support in Catron County, Las Cruces, or even Sandoval county, for that matter.

As I originally commented, I haven't heard good original ideas espoused by Heinrich that would go in the direction of seeking compromise and ways to get out of our dilemma. He, once again, took his cue from his leadership with that stupid "human shield" comment. I want to understand how HE would solve the debt problem and stabilize the economy. It is you that moved my original comment into the bowl of pablum, my friend.

Re: Heinrich: GOP used ‘seniors as a human shield’ for the rich in House budget vote

Because, like President Obama who believes in the "just war", I am not anti-war with no thought behind it. How could you say Heinrich is not involved? Was he not in Congress when Libya started, or when the Defense bills which continue funding for these wars came up? (oh, I forgot, Obama never asked congress if it was OK to bomb Libya)

To me, the problem with modern progressive-ism, is that they live in an ephemeral utopia, without the slightest hint as to how they would pay for it.

My argument is that the vacuous spewing of far left progressives is loosing its luster with the voters. Heinrich made his bed with that view and, once his own polling numbers say he will have trouble running against a moderate (and experienced) Democrat or Republican for the Senate, it will be fun to watch him try to change his spots.

Re: Heinrich: GOP used ‘seniors as a human shield’ for the rich in House budget vote

Uh huh. He always seems to parrot the DNC party line, regardless of how absurd it sounds. "Seniors as a human shield"? Really?

Wasn't it his party that stripped $500B from Medicare as part of "ObamaCare"? Now that the R's put something on the table to to at least begin negotiations, they crank up the propaganda machine, not to offer counter suggestions, but to just blast away.

It was Obama's own deficit commission that said something had to be done about Medicare and the other entitlements. His answer? Form another commission.

People, we are nearly $14 TRILLION in debt. Food and energy prices are going up dramatically, not because there are fewer resources, but because our money has less and less value when we have to buy stuff on the world markets. Commodity prices are skyrocketing.

The "Progressives" are loosing their luster and their ideas have less and less merit.

Heinrich can't change his progressive stripes if he wanted to.

Re: ABQJOURNAL VENUE: Duke City Actor Has Busy Year

(Add) ... safe to say that many of New Mexico's talent and crew currently working in the industry started their careers in these locally produced festivals. One obvious difference to me, a long time Mac user, is that Google doesn't seem to push out version changesto fix things as often as I'd like. only one minor update for my Xoom running Honeycomb.

I have to admit that I get annoyed with Apple's paternalistic attitude at times. When Jobs lectured that a tablet smaller than the iPad was not "good for me", I bought the xoom instead of the clunky 'pad 2. His constant ridicule of Adobe is also tedious. Flash10.2 works just fine with Honeycomb 3.01, thank you very much.

At any rate, my Blackberry on Verizon is ready for an update Their LTE upgrade will happen in my city before the end of the year so my next phone will have to be compatible with that. It will be an interesting next few months to see what Apple does with the iPhone and Motor comes out with their 4g models for Verizon. Hopefully, the Android OS will continuallybe improved too.

Re: Under GOP budget plan, seniors’ health payments would double, analysts say

Hey maddemcrat, where were you when the current bill took out $500 billion from medicare and killed Medicare Advantage plans? My only contact with his office was during the ObamaCare debate when I had a serious question, to which his office responded with a "canned" letter, repeating all the Democrat party's points. Its as if he couldn't (or was afraid to) come up with a thoughtful reply on his own to one of his constituents.

Since then, I've seen him on TV once or twice, but noticed that he comes across as inarticulate and inexperienced. Most of his exposure is "optical" - looks good, but keep him away from the mike - especially if he's drawn off his talking points. We've already got an inexperienced leader of the Democratic party and it shows.

So just what has this guy done for New Mexico? The dyed-in-the-wool Democrats will vote for him just because he's a Democrat. But what about the rest of us - people who think for themselves and tend to be independent? What's he got to offer?

Re: Researchers report breakthrough in hydrogen use | KOB.com

The oil companies will just sell it at the local station

Re: Researchers report breakthrough in hydrogen use | KOB.com

I read somewhere that Hydrogen was a "transformative" energy source - it transforms one kind of energy (electrical) into another (heat producing gas). Nothing's changed. Same old faux intellectualism reporting on news that I absorbed within a couple of minutes of scanning the net. I also have the option of reading a multitude of views on any single subject I'm interested in on the net, and not just swallowing NPR's view.

I also noted that they had "supporters" (sponsors for us non elites) that included T Rowe Price, Met Life, Nissan, and quite a few others mentioned in the 15 minutes or so of listening. So where do people get this notion that NPR avoids corporate "pollution" of their news? They have the same corporate sponsors (excuse me, "supporters") that the rest of the media has.

In all fairness, I do not listen to NPR regularly. If they disappear, which I doubt, I don't see that anything of significance will be lost. If you want them, pay for them.

Re: Obama unlikely to close Guatanamo this term

What's the point of this article? 1.
