I like most of the stuff the video shows; however, she skips ENTIRELY too many steps. For students who struggle, this video will most likely succeed in confusing them even more. Show all steps would be a great improvement.

From my point of view, here is how I see last night's debacle:

The Good: REMY, Wat and VO's defense on Burke, Jordy's killer instinct with the ball.

The Bad: 40 minutes of energy, lack of mental toughness, Wat's 1st half

The Ugly: Cody's inability to OWN THE PAINT on defense

I know I'm going to get slammed for blasphemy, but oh well. I love Cody Zeller and what he has done for his basketball team. HOWEVER, with that being said, he played extremely passive defense last night and gave up at LEAST 8-11 points because he didn't rotate to challenge Burke or Hardaway Jr. as they drove to the rim. The last 3 possession of the game, Michigan ran the same play over and over and over with Burke running the baseline. I was yelling from seat in Crisler Arena to "LET HARDAWAY SHOOT IT!" The Michigan fans next to me were saying "DON'T GIVE IT TO JR!!!" Three times Burke drove the baseline and Cody simply didn't slide to cut it off completely. Granted, the final time they ran that play, Burke traveled as he got an assist on Hardaway's dagger from the corner.

CW looked like he belonged on the short bus in the first half. Even the 9 year old girl sitting behind me asked her dad why #2 didn't throw the ball to #40 when he was open so much?

Mental toughness: the first shot of the game set the tone for the ENTIRE evening. Will shot a 3 from the far corner (far corner from my seat) and it LOOKED BEAUTIFUL! Right up to the point where it went in bounced around the rim, and popped out. That shot took the air out of our balloon for the next 10 minutes.

I was STOKED to see Remy get serious time last night. I was excited when CTC called some isolation for him to attack the rim. I think with Will, VO, and Remy we could become a much more dangerous squad when these 3 attack the rack consistently. They will get to the FT line much more. Cody will get numerous amounts of dunks as his defender has to help to stop the drive.

Ok...I'm done for now. I still love ya Will, VO, Wat, Jordy, and Cody! I was also amped up to see Derek get a ton of playing time as well. I think we need to roll with an 8 man rotation to help the kids get into a FLOW instead of up-down-up-down with this schizophrenic substitution patter.

Anyone else think Will looks like Colin Ferrell in this photo? I'm headed to the game tomorrow night in Ann Arbor. Can't wait to ride home with a Michigan puke after we win!

This team lacks and athletic PG who can create his own shot or drive and dish to an open teammate. I LOVE Jordy Hulls, but he is a liability on both ends of the floor about 50% of the time. I have a hard time finding a positive comment about VJ3. I've been disgusted with his selfish play from game 1 of this season. It's not a personal attack on him or YOU. It's my opinion. Verdell's positives are GREATLY outweighed by his negatives this year.If Remy's results were the same, I could accept that from FROSH, but it's NOT ACCEPTABLE from a senior. I'm pretty certain that Remy wouldn't get abused like a mule as VJ3 did on the defensive end on several occasions tonight. That point right there makes Remy a better option.

It's not a personal attack on Crean, but I agree with the strategy portion of your post. His blind allegiance to VJ3 makes me want to throw my remote through the TV. Remy has seen 3 or 4 minutes over the past 2 games...WTH?? Where's the CONFIDENT Jordan Hulls that willed us to a W over Kentucky and O$U? What was he doing taking the ball to the rack on the final play??? I'm putting it on CTC for not using his final TO to set something up. The last 3 games have definitely not been his finest hour. Let's get it done this weekend! GO HOOSIERS!

The speed bump is getting a little larger. This team was thrust into the national spotlight. They got a single digit number in front of their team name...and VIOLA...they magically forgot how to play basketball??? I don't think so. Perhaps the best thing that could happen is getting rid of that #13. Perhaps then our kids will remember how to play for 40 minutes with intensity, effort, and passion. I'm pretty certain these 3 were key to our rise to the top 10.

I'm a little baffled as to why our 6ft tall PG was tasked with driving the lane when we had a TO to use to set up a play?

Time to remember what got us here. TEAM WORK, EFFORT, INTENSITY, and the DRIVE FOR RESPECT. I certainly hope we don't toss this season in the garbage because of our 2012 class. Let's finish this fellas!

I know this is going to ruffle feathers, but oh well. Time for Verdell to see less and less action. Give the minutes to Will and Remy. I can live with costly turnovers from a Soph and Frosh as long as they're looking to be a TEAM player. Big props to VJ3 for lasting 38 min before he reverted back to his old ways.

I love Jordan, but I sure wish he could guard someone. Wat needs to switch on high screen and rolls, perhaps then the driver doesn't get to the lane which led to the uncontested FTs that won the game.

Wat got his confident stroke back tonight. That's something positive to build on. CZ was a friggin BEAST. Sheehey was his usual self.

Just wish we could see more Remy and AE...would love to see their energy and effort on the floor.

I was present for the Luers vs Northrop game to watch JB2 vs the Scott twins (Bryson already committed to PUke, and Brenton looks to be headed to Lafayette as well) and I have to say the game was exciting. I know that everyone bashed me because I stated my opinion from JB2's 8th grade season, but it appears that he still has "effort" issues on the defensive end of the floor (trust me, I'm being VERY generous and nice with that comment). He didn't shoot well (2-7 from the arc) and gave up fast break after fast break to the runnin Bruins.

On the bright side, James Blackmon Sr appeared to be disappointed with Jr's effort as well. Jr was sat down for 2 extended periods of time in the game. He sat for the final 3 minutes of the 1st half in a tight game (4 pt Luers lead at the half). Dad wasn't happy at all with his attitude and effort in the 4th quarter of what was a very tight game (2pt Northrop lead when Jr went to the bench). Jr's teammate, Jaylen Smith (younger brother of O$U RB Rod Smith) decided to put the Knights on his man-sized shoulders and took over (34 pts and I'm guessing 15 boards, or so it seemed).

JB2 has TONS and TONS of offensive upside. His crossover and jumpshot are a thing of beauty. I sure hope Blackmon Sr gets his mind right before his arrival in a few years.

**Side note** PUke is getting a MONSTER in Bryson Scott. If he played a little less selfish, he'd be 5 star material. Reminded me of a shorter Eric Gordon. If his twin brother goes as well, they will be a dynamic duo. Should make for a great rivalry revival.

Hopefully, CTC will use the game tape of OSU to show our kids what good things happen when you move the ball with quick crisp passes. OSU put on an offensive clinic today. Bright spot, I saw VO attack the Rim in the final 5 min like he attacked early in the season. That part of his game has been sorely missed recently.

Back to the drawing board boys...time to get back to the basics!

In November, had you told me that we would be 15-2 at this point in the season, I would have called the shrinks wearing white lab coats to come put you in a straight jacket. Yes, this loss is the most disappointment we fans have felt in about...uh, let's see....10 months...let's keep the reality of the situation in perspective: We're still a DARN good team, we're still a young team learning how to handle the pressures of national expectations as opposed to regional expectations. I had a horrible feeling in my gut that we were due for this output after our ascension in the rankings. If CTC wants to prevent this type of display in the future, he needs to show two 5 minute clips of video. The first would be the 5 minute stretch where we got down 9 in the 1st half due to miserable effort on defense. The 2nd clip would be the final 5 minutes of the game when the kids decided to exert the effort that has vaulted them into a top-10 team.

I still stand by my comment in an earlier post...VJ3 needs to be required to tally 4 asst before he's allowed to shoot the ball. If he has a ridiculous TO, then that 4 asst becomes 6 asst. Perhaps this will encourage him to play WITH his teammates.

I sure wish CTC would run more ball screens for Jordy. We all know he's limited at times to get his own shot (however, that move he displayed in the final 2 minutes last night was SAAAWEEET!). I see the players "running" the pick-n-roll, but I can count on 1 hand the number of times the ball handler actually LOOKS for the guy rolling as he cuts to the basket.

Remy & Matt....WOW! What a great problem to have. How do you find minutes for these two? I would like to apologize publicly to Mr. Roth for my comments about his lack of defense. He's actually got some skills on that end of the floor. I would love to see these two get the bulk of the minutes that VJ3 is getting.

Today's a new day...and Sunday's a new game. Still a fan...always a fan. I would love to see a season sweep of the #uckeyes! GO HOOSIERS!

If you would have been sitting in my living room for the past 4 years, you would have heard plenty of boos and hisses directed at VJ3's inability to play "team" oriented basketball as well as TP's inability to catch a cold, much less catch a pass or a rebound.

My son played last spring with Blackmon's youngest brother, Jalen. WOW! Kid is an absolute STUD! 5-6 from the 3 pt line, 17 pts....AND THAT WAS JUST THE 1ST HALF!!! Good call on Blackmon's lil brothers!

Defense is a state of mind. Defense wins championships. His lack of interest in defense was just one of MANY items I saw from his 8th grade and frosh years. What is one of the things we love about VO and WS (besides the highlight dunks)???? THE FACT THAT THEY CAN PLAY LOCK DOWN DEFENSE. So yeah, I was pointing out the fact that in his 8th grade year, he looked very disinterested in playing BOTH ends of the floor. I was stating my opinion that I hope between now and the time he arrives in Bloomington, I certainly hope he changes his mindset about playing just a LITTLE bit of defense.

My concern about JB2 is his defense. I watched him dominate a game as an 8th grader...and he didn't even consider playing defense. He will score 25 in his sleep....but very easily gives up 20-25 on the other end of the floor. I'm hoping his dad encourages some defense in the next 2.5 years. Would love to see him in cream and crimson as a potent scorer and defensive stopper.

Wat and Zeller would destroy Thomas and Sullinger on the pick n roll! Deshaun Thomas plays ZERO defense! He would be so lost trying to figure out where his man went. So very glad he took his talents to Columbus!

What we need to happen is this:

The zebras with whistles need to realize that VO is a shut down defender...and give him some slack. TP can't pass gas on a ball handler without a whistle being blown. I can see problems down the road with VO getting in foul trouble VERY early.

Jordan needs to quit picking up his dribble so much...AND at the same time, he needs some ball screens to let him do his thing. I would LOVE to see some pick and pop with him and DE and a ton of pick and roll with CZ. UNSTOPPABLE!

I was a doubter of C-Wat's ability to play WITH this team instead of ON this team. WOW, was I wrong! What a big step for him in the past week.

As my name suggests, I'm a WS fan...but d@mn dude...ATTACK the rim instead of jacking up Bracey Wright type shots. Pretty please?
