I like how the Republicans are ready to join in and accept Obama's request to end partisanship. Lets see....Rush Limbaugh hopes for Obama's failure, the Republicans are running around blamming the stock market crash on Obama, the blocked a vote on Clinton's approval, blocked a vote on Holder's nomination...

The GOP has run roughshod over everyone and anyone who stood in thier way since 1994. Now that they have blown it they want to warn the rest of us that we have to play nice.

...uh....wait a minute.

So, Devon got access to tens of dollars of a resource owned by the American citizens...They made tens of millions (if not more) of dollars off of that resource at a massive discount given to them by the US government (who ideally manages those resources to benefit we citizens)..in the process Devon destroys whole ecosystems (I know cause I used to work out in those oil fields)....

and now we should somehow cheer hooray because we citizens and taxpayers get stuck with a 50k bill?

What a crock.

Bingaman's pretty big with promises but doesnt deliver much. Here's hoping that we see some action now that he's no longer under Domenici's thumb. This land very much needs and deserves protection.

One of the best things that couldnt happen for these wonderful creatures, especially the lynx, would be for Bingaman to finally get off his butt and permanently protect some of our most valuable roadless lands as wilderness under the 1964 wilderness act. Now that Domenici is gone he has nothing to be afraid of. These creatures need protected habitat.

The whole premise of this article is a crock. Stupid. While the editors let alot of schlock on this blog, this has to be one of the worst. For years we had essentially no power in the Senate because Domenici wouldnt do anything positive for the state and Bingaman was too scared of Domenici to do anything. Any good Udall could have done in the House was totally compromised by Pearce and Wilson. Now that Udall can be Bingaman's spine in the Senate and we have a whole host of honest, New Mexico oriented, hardworking people in the House....New Mexico is MUCH better off.

Its pretty sad. The Senate is more about protecting each other and the interests of the people they call friends than in serving the people. This is not the change we voted for in 06 and 08 and is certainly not change we can believe in.

I can't tell you how disheartened this makes me. The man acted reprehensibly and is being rewarded for it.

I'm sorry. But I just dont think that voting to keep Lieberman in his committee chair and in the caucus is thoughful and well-reasoned.

Bingaman likes to give the image that he is thoughtful and well-reasoned but his moves have been more about keeping Domenici happy for 22 years, keeping his position in DC and protecting the rich and powerful.

No kidding. Its far past time. Shame on Bingaman for all his kowtowing to Domenici on that issue. He shoul dhave introduced legislation on that over a year ago. Pathetic. What does that guy do there? Thank goodness Udall is in. He has a spine. Maybe Udall will help rebuild Bingaman's spine. There is a ton of land that needs to be protected out there!
