Perhaps you could. We find that these crummy meat packers come in, advertise for help and even send buses to go get them. Then they lay them off but don't take them back to wherever they came from, Mexico or Chicago, and the community social services are inadequate to handle so many unemployed and needy. The community then is burdened with trying to take care of them. It's a tough situation all the way around. Sad for the workers who were manipulated and sad for the community that is overburdened. Then tensions and hard feelings erupt. Iowans are welcoming but the situations need to be set up to succeed, not fail. Out of state owners of the companies don't have to deal with the realities of the situation so they seem to be uninterested in planning for a successful operation for workers and community, just on getting their profits and the product.

This has nothing to do with change and multiculturism. It has to do with people breaking laws that were put in place by the State of Iowa to protect all citizens. This company has preyed on people who were so desperate for jobs that they would accept poor wages, awful working conditions and participate in illegal identity theft. There were hundreds of incidents of child labor laws being broken. This does NOTHING for the community. Better going back to an empty building until someone comes along willing to care for workers and community. Now there are many families who were lured to Postville to take jobs that were illegal. Postville is struggling to care for those families who don't have transport back to Mexico and resources to support them.

I will be glad to see the end of Agriprocessors even though the families are going through a tough time. Obviously, it is run by people who care nothing for the community and Iowa at large. They need to go back to wherever they came from.

I agree that McCain's staff did mismanage Palin. I do feel that many people also succumbed to the media's concerted efforts to smear Gov. Palin. She was portrayed wrongly as a very extreme right winger when she actually governs in a very moderate way. I think in coming months, more and more will come out about Sarah Palin's character assassination.

Obama plans to send more troops into Afghanistan, keep 55,000 soldiers in Iraq, go into Pakistan to get Bin Laden and is looking at Iran. Regarding judgement, at least I have the judgement not to fall for the same msm spin that brought us GWBush. The media sold us on Bush, well SOME of us, and now they have been selling us on OBAMA. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not buying what MSM is selling. Also, there has been a concerted effort to smear Sarah Palin by the MSM. She has more experience and has accomplished way more than Obama. She has kicked out corrupt officials in Alaska. Obama is from Chicago where all know that it is the most corrupt political situation in the country and he NEVER spoke out against the corruption once. He actually was accused of taking a kickback and had to return $5,000.00. Now, who wants MORE corruption in Washington? Don't get stuck on stupid!

Doesn't matter. It's still true, McCain has experience, Obama has a speech that nobody ever recorded and we have to go by his version of what it was. He still voted for plenty of war bills after he was elected. And Biden had it right, he will be "tested" as the young, inexperienced newbie, just as JFK was.

Barack Obama decided to exclude 3 reporters from his airplane this week. These reporters represented newspapers that had just endorsed McCain. I wasn't particularly thrilled with Obama before and this was the last straw. Today I did something I thought I would never do--vote straight Republican ticket in protest. If Obama is going to suppress freedom of the press, I will not support him or the superdelegates that helped nominate him.

I have a lot of concerns over these numbers. The country is so angry with the current administration, they would vote for anybody other than a Republican right now, without ever properly researching the individual to see if he really is fit to serve. It's just scary!

It's down to 68 per cent. There is nothing wrong with Palin except that she is a woman and a lot of people can't wrap their minds around the fact that women actually make better leaders according to history. They are usually more moderate and cautious because of having mother instincts to protect. Many other countries in the world have already had women presidents. We're BEHIND! She has an 80 per cent approval rate in her state and is beloved by dems and repubs. She has cut out a lot of wasteful spending in Alaska, yet invested heavily in renewable energy.
