Most people only know about Google Trends.

I have been using it for a while now and have been able to pick up several real estate related terms, especially for the Oahu and Honolulu market here in Hawaii.

Re: Obama Mania in Honolulu, Hawaii

The United States first president from Hawaii, I love it! He stayed in Kailua when he was vacationing here. I know he rented a home from http://www.hawaiianbeachrentals.com/. But I don't know exactly which home it was. I'm assuming it would be one of the beachfront homes on this Kailua vacation rentals page, http://www.hawaiianbeachrentals.com/Hawaii/Oahu.... Does anyone know which property it was? I want to stay there.

Re: louisgray.com: Social Media Experts are the New Webmasters

Yes, back in the day I had a foosball table and called myself a web master. Now I have a ping pong (http://www.dazadi.com/Game-Rooms/Game-Tables/Ta...) table and call myself a social marketer. Very small changes with better results!

Re: Flip Sells a Million Video Cameras

We just got one of these and it's easier to use than our $1,000 video camera. We've been using it to do walk thrus of our listings. It's great!

@Poppy - we use it with Mac without a problem.

Re: Millions of Listings Oh My

3 million just doesn't sound like enough MLS listings. My guess would be that it's higher. How many listings do you think the RE/MAX site has?

Re: Trulia Gets Beaucoup Bucks

I see that Google has dropped them in the SERPs slightly for terms that I watch for them. Not as much as you would think, though, for such an obvious black hat SEM technique.

Re: Trulia Goes Pro

@ josephbr - Are you saying that once you secure the listings you don't think it's your job, as an agent, to advertise that listing?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got it all backwards, brah! You have the listing and it's your responsibility to advertise it. Sure, you can post your listing on Zillow and Trulia for free, but if you want the extra exposure, you have to pay for it.

Haven't you paid to advertise your listing in a magazine before? Well guess what, people don't look at home magazines and books anymore. The latest NAR study done in November 2007 shows that 1% of home buyers found their property through a real estate magazine or book while 29% found it on the Internet. So it's the home buyer who is dictating this shift in our industry, and now, if you want to be a successful agent, you have to advertise your listings on the web.

I'm gonna see what I can grab in Hawaii right now!

Re: Best of FOREM: Crossover Real Estate Brands

Joel, it's interesting that you mention this. Though we are just a small time Hawaii real estate company running a referral based website. We were bombarded with inquiries from brokers to take our brand to the streets.

Well, the money was finally right and we were sold by a persuasive young broker, and now HawaiiLife.com is a full service real estate brokerage.

The brand that we developed on the Internet crossed over to the real world very well and in our 1st month we secured $50 million in listing inventory. This might not seem like much, but considering this is for the island of Kauai only, we have grabbed a good share of the market. We are in talks with a broker from the Big Island next week (fingers crossed) and hope to have offices on the 4 major islands by years end.

You'll be seeing us in Cali soon ;-)

Re: Using Video in Your Real Estate Marketing

Video is the future!

Re: Estately Comes to Portland

I saw this yesterday. Great job Estately, I'm jealous. I did notice that when you typed in Portland, it gave me multiple choices and when I selected a Portland outside of the RMLS, like in Texas, it was able to map it and put boundaries on it even though there were no properties.

Hmmm...could they be going nation wide?
