According to a friend, this works on ALL meters in Austin. However, apparently the meter maids don't know what this is yet, so he's still getting tickets. They get dismissed, but still.. the hassle.

Not really. It's based on a book that HST wrote before Fear and Loathing. It's fiction based on Hunter's experience as a young journalist in Puerto Rico.

Ugh.. As someone who lived in apartments for most of my life, I can agree with everything you said. I was *never* allowed to run inside. I was barely allowed to even walk fast! You are correct: that's what the outdoors is for. The fact that they were trying to claim that YOU were the problem (and not the noisy kids) is a prime example of someone who doesn't want to own up to their own mistakes. I hope they end up with a court summons and a huge fine.

You clearly did not read the story. I was only buying a refrigerator, which was $400 (not thousands of dollars worth of merchandise). My problem was not the fact that I had to fill out paperwork; it was the fact that the salesperson was not clear on what was happening and then ended up suggesting an illegal means to which to get through it. I was there for 2 1/2 hours with no idea what was going on.

The behavior demonstrated between the salesperson and her manager was completely unacceptable, and that's what made me leave the store and write this article. If you read some of the other comments above yours you will find many others who have had similar experiences to mine, as well as other employees who also warn using the store.

I completely agree with your article. I'm baffled how many people complain about AT&T but still have iPhones when Android is available on every carrier. Pre 2.0 versions of the OS were a bit buggy for me, even though I've owned two Android phones now. It's the fact that it's not crippled by Apple's archaic policies and restrictions that keep me coming back.
