Find it quicker most of the time, unless the network just drops the page request, which it did a lot earlier in the year but seems to have improved.

Re: Apple iPhone Day on Orange UK – a little more info

I am using a high end Android device on the Orange Internet consumer APN (access point name), my screen time out is set at 2 minutes. It often takes longer than this to load a page of dabr, the web based twitter client. Will be interested to hear about the mobile safari experience of the 30,000 new iPhone customers. Could be worth them measuring their thoughput too!

Re: Calling all Nokia & Symbian geniuses: Am I wrong?

I think the likes of Sony Pictures and Waitrose take one look at mobile browsing stats and say, right, there's our audience. The barriers to getting and using iPhone and Android apps are negligible. If Nokia had ever provided a decent browsing experience in the first place, they probably could have figured out how to deliver apps. I am at a loss as to why they continue to deliver such a poor user experience.

Re: 3UK launches Android HTC Hero complete with Spotify Mobile

Sad but true.

Re: 3UK launches Android HTC Hero complete with Spotify Mobile

@Jakdaw I have had major issues with the address book on both versions of the Orange ROM. This is breaking a core competency of the Android platform. Also have trouble making calls regularly whilst data processes are occurring. There is also no ability for over the air updates which is something I dearly love about my G1. The Hero is a great device, I just think that HTC could have done a far better job with their software layer.

Re: 3UK launches Android HTC Hero complete with Spotify Mobile

Yep, they're likely to get the one that finally works. It has some nice UI flourishes but also has some unfortunate software bugs at the moment. I have owned an iPhone and used the 2.0 + OS variants which were not without their problems. Brian Fling, a noted US mobile development company CEO recently described the 3.1 iPhone OS as by far the worst yet.
I am also lucky enough to have a G1 which has, and continues to work flawlessly.
The potential of Android to provide brilliant mobile services over the next 18-24 months is vastly better than any of the competition. This is how contract buyers need to look at the handset market, because you're going to get tied to a platform for a long time. In conversation with a very experienced mobile lead developer, on the subject of the new LiMo OS Vodafone 360 platform. He described Google as deliberately holding back Android to allow Apple to act as a stalking horse in to the previously cloistered world of the mobile operator.
I am really glad the iPhone on Orange offer is public. Now we can get on with talking about why Android kicks it's ass.

Re: Nokia Booklet 3G mini laptop looks absolutely brilliant

If this pricing is close to accurate, count me in.

Re: Beware: Social Media

yeah, honesty fucks up corporate heads.
