Some people consider this only "fringe" behavior, and true it may be a minority opinion. However all it takes for one crackpot to take a shot at Obama and thus should not be ignored. Too many white people think racism doesn't exist primarily since either A) they aren't racist or B) laws have been passed that abolish segregation. People are afraid to talk about race for fear of being considered a racist, notice how easily it shifted to the whole Prop 8 argument. The people who did this acts may or may not be Christian's but odds are we know someone who is part of the "fringe" but maybe alienate them or ignore their behavior instead of challenging them or talking to them. Timothy McVeigh didn't exist in a vacuum, neither do these closet or overt racists.

Re: TV Talk: Monday Night

Don't you have to have a man card in order to turn one in?

Re: A New Conversation on Abortion

So you don't want to discuss and agree on 'common ground"? You just want to cast dispersions on me with the assumption that I have not personally done enough?

Classic attack the messenger tactic. If you are willing to agree on something then define some action that could be greed upon. "Agree to reduce the number" does not work. Something like: give $1 million to every female in USA as a proactive measure, or some other program. Even if socialistic and liberal it is more honorable than constant circular rhetoric...and i would be more likely to agree.

Re: A New Conversation on Abortion

What are you doing to stop killing of children? Beside not having an abortion yourself. I hope you are trying to make a difference aside from this forum and voting and waiting for a day that may never come.

Re: A New Conversation on Abortion

Abortion is legal so you have to work with those restraints. Like jpcramer said, we have to make abortion the last choice. Like I implied overturning Roe v. Wade, is the simple answer. The now we don't have to worry about it anymore. Additionally it wasn't overturned with GW, and it probably won't if McCain is elected. I don't think the Supreme Court will change their mind, even with new appointees. So what do we do in the meantime, write on blogs or try to make a difference. If you feel so strongly meet a person considering abortion and offer to adopt their child or help pay for their care and education if that is the case. If you are doing that I applaud you. Jesus didn't challenge the Roman Empire and rule and legislate, he worked on individuals to change their heart to make them different, we need to do that. Then perhaps abortion becomes moot. I think everyone here, although I haven't read every post, is against abortion so that is not the issue.

Re: A New Conversation on Abortion

There are laws against robbery, it still occurs. Just as abortions will continue to occur if outlawed. There may be a reduction, but if there is a will there is a way. Yes abortion is wrong and its important to change the mindset of people seeking abortions as well as providing support to those women keeping their babies. We also need to step up and take care of children who are abandoned or are in foster homes or homeless, etc. Its too easy to say Roe v. Wade needs to be overturned and leave it at that.

Re: TV Talk: Tuesday Night

Ok I have only seen the first 45mins of Fringe, why because..... Personally it has no bearing on my belief in God. You have your factual basis for why God doesn't exist, these people have their reasons why he does. I don't believe anyone here is seeking you out and trying to convert you or brow beat you so what harm is it if we/they take God so seriously? Either you are an ahole who believes he/she is right about everything and needs to let everyone know how right he/she is or something else. Obviously you can say what you want to say but I think calling someone an idiot isn't a constructive way to get your opinion across. Just look at what Jesus stood for and said, not necessarily the religion that grew out of it or even the behavior of some of the people who are Christians. If you seriously care read Jesus for President and Myth of a Christian Nation which may give you a wider view of who Jesus (or the fairy tale of God etc) is in the scope of our society today.

Re: TV Talk: Monday Night

Great article man, thanks for the link.

Re: TV Talk: Monday Night

http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/enterta...
echoes my sentiment

Re: TV Talk: Monday Night

I have watched 3/4 of the first episode and was kind of lost remembering things. Maya or whatever her name annoys me as do Claire and Niki or whatever her name is now. I am dvring the series but i don't know if I will watch it. i have so many other things in my queue. I am still hanging onto sarah conner, although I haven't seen the past two episodes yet.
Maybe the bullet hit him precisely in the part of the brain that is responsible for his healing properties. I don't know, like I said didn't finish the first episode. All this screwing with time lines reminds me of the marvel universe where (as I recall) continuity is so screwed.

Re: The Dark Knight Trailer Cut With Toy Story 2

Pretty pretty pretty good.

Re: Pop Critics Update!

LOL :)

Re: Pop Critics Update!

Well I won't make any smart ass comment so I guess I will say its cool this site will remain.
