Blogging doesn't seem to have the cache' it once had. That makes having one that is up to date and a rich resource all the better.

The SEO in me would ask you to look at syndicated content in a different manner. I believe you will find this article to be a more reliable resource and paint a different picture on the topic of dup content. http://marketingland.com/my...

For agents who may struggle with blog content ideas, kudos for pointing them in the right direction with the "If This Then That" tool. We recommend our clients also use these topic generators:

http://www.hubspot.com/blog...

https://www.portent.com/too...

Re: 5 Must-Haves for a High-Impact Personal Website

Awesome "must-haves" list J.T.! In our space of real estate marketing, we've found the most common marketing philosophy is the "hub & spoke" marketing system with the website/blog(IDX) at the epicenter of the hub. It is vitally important the hub website/blog offer value and be the first priority. Then the social media presence can be properly leveraged. That way when business owners drive traffic from the "spoke" social sites to the hub there is something of value to be found there.

Re: Backlinks 101 for Real Estate SEO

Marci, it's hard to ignore what is going on at Pinterest. Many vendors and agents debate it's place in real estate marketing. I say when used properly it can certainly build your brand and help with top of mind marketing.
Not that everything in online marketing "rises and falls" with SEO. That sounds like heresy coming from a guy who depends heavily on leveraging SEO best practices for our clients. When using Pinterest, just stick with sharing images you create and reside on your website, or photoblog for your neighborhoods, areas, condo buildings, and events. If you gain traffic and stay top of mind with your audience, it's a win/win.

Re: Backlinks 101 for Real Estate SEO

These are all solid suggestions. Regarding item #3, don't count on all comment links being "do follow" (pass link juice). That doesn't diminish the additional traffic you might gain from your comment. That wouldn't stop me from leaving a comment. As far as Pinterest links, I believe the links from the image source sites are no longer "do follow" links. Again, you could be gaining click through traffic from Pinterest to your site. The quality of the click through traffic might be debatable, but for some, any traffic is a good thing.

Re: Doris Daniely Outreach helps survivors

As Amy's mom and dad, words are inadequate to share how grateful we are for organizations like Doris Daniely Outreach and The Bridge. At the event I challenged her to "amp up" her Flip idea by adding a prerecorded" message to her buyer clients and to make that camera a bazillion times better than any refrigerator magnet by adding her brand (Skin) to the device. The prerecorded message on the Flip plus the skin aides in taking "Top of Mind" marketing to Mount Everest heights. Now each time little Johnny is video tapped with that "buyer's gift" from Shannon she is tightly associated to all those feel good family moments. Priceless!

Re: 8 new social networks your company should be monitoring

Great stuff as always Wayne! On the topic of monitoring these new and existing social platforms, there is certainly tremendous value in the social monitoring tools you mention above. My question is this. Why don't we also use the "free" stuff Google provides us? With Google's Real Time Search (http://www.google.com/realt... users of social media can now monitor what is being said about us and our brands by simply setting up Real Time Search notifications (Google Alerts for Real Time Updates). Seems stupid easy to me to use this free tool.

Re: 11 iPhone QR Code Reader Applications to get you ready for the QR marketing madness

As a real estate marketing firm, we are already seeing tech-savvy agents put QR codes to use on their for sale sign "riders". It offers techie home buyers instant access to the details of a property web page. Plus, by placing a domain-based URL shortener in the QR code, you can track the direct access traffic to the page on your website.

We will be discussing this technology and it's practical application for real estate during our upcoming AllAccess live stream next week. Wayne, let me know if you would be available to be a guest on our broadcast. @rewebcoach

Re: WordPress Wonder! Realtor’s Website Impresses.

This site gets several kudos for ease of navigation off the homepage and the visuals are very nice. When it comes to hyper-local neighborhood content, this site offers tons of neighborhood content. While I didn't check the content of every neighborhood details page, the ones that I did check had the same content as Wikipedia. :-(

The homepage offers most of the tools and resources consumers want from a real estate website in the first place... search for homes, market facts, neighborhood content and easy access to the blog.

Here are couple of other observations. First, the reverse text (white text on black background) is not reader friendly especially for folks over 40. I'd watch my bounce rates as a cue for this issue. Reverse text is pretty tough on the eyes. Second, if there was a way to have the MLS search content attributed to the URL and not iframed in the site I'm sure the site would perform a better on the SERPs.

With the recent Google Caffeine initiative, site load times are more important than ever and the scrolling images need to be static and maybe rotate when the homepage refreshes. It would be a shame to forfeit SERP's just for a fancy slide show in the header.

Last, if you watched the early June Google I/O conference YouTube video by Matt Cutts and team, in the site reviews Matt emphasizes the need for copy on the homepage of many of the sites he reviewed. I would seriously take Matt's suggestion for other sites and add some indexable, keyword-rich copy to this homepage with some deep links to other internal pages in the site for SEO and stickiness.

Re: Google Makes Your Active Fan Page Even More Valuable

Terrific post Michael! Offering high-value content on your FB Fan page that encourages that social reaction to your Fan page content is key. Don't forget the "ultimate end game" and goal of an actively engaged FB Fan page is to lead the fan back to your "online hub", which is your website and your blog. That means occasionally adding your blog post links to your FB Fan page so it guides your Fans back to your home turf. That's a "win-win" for you and your online hub!

Re: One REALTOR with 50,000+ Fans and Counting

Very interesting post Michael! From my vantage point, one of the real "pain points" of a real estate professional is dealing with content generation and adding that content to blogs and websites - "it's called implementation". If real estate websites and blogs are to be "trusted resources" they must be dynamic and not static.

The two-fold benefit of consistent website/blog content generation is consumers quickly realize your portals offer timely, reliable information which sets you apart as a local area expert and trusted adviser.

The second benefit is Google rewards you by moving you up the search results ladder because you have consistently contributed to overall good of the www.

Of course, none of this happens if agents and brokers fail to generate SEO-rich content and have it uploaded to their websites and blogs. VA's provide valuable assistance to the agent community with this service.

Bobby Carroll
@rewebcoach

Re: Real Estate Bar Camp Ohio

Pat - Awesome meeting you at RE BarCamp Ohio! The great thing about real estate barcamps is you can guide discussions in breakout sessions, attend those to help you learn about social media or rediscover the fire of social media and maybe experience your own personal "ah-ha" moment in another session. The point being, you make RE BarCamp what YOU want it to be.
