We've fallen as far as you can get. Once we got the "Failure to Monitor" i figured Greenspan would be gone. Alot of ppl talked about it on the radio. Im glad he is gone because if an athletic director cannot be trusted to hire a coach then he shouldn't be an athletic director

Re: Open thread: Friday the 13th in Seattle

The thing that gets me is that USC has been caught twice with players being paid and the NCAA has essentially looked the other way. Last year, Joe Crawford had difficulty getting into Billy Gillispie's system. But his progress was hindered by an injury he had early in the year, AND the fact that the whole friggin' team had problems getting into Billy Gillispie's system. Joe was accused of acting stubborn by members of the media, but Gillsipie defended him. Once the team finally caught on -- and Billy adjusted his system to fit the personnel better -- they really took off. Joe Crawford said this at our NCAA loss to Marquette:

"He's done more for me than a lot of people in my life," Crawford said. "He changed the outlook everyone had on me. He changed me as a person. He got me believing. He's done so much for me and I love him for that. I don't know how I could repay him, ever."

That was after just one year with Gillispie. So maybe the Crawford family was impressed by Joe's turnaround and want the same with Jordan? I don't know that. I think Jordan might fit the "lead guard" type responsibilities Gillispie wants, but I'm not for sure about Jordan's assist and court management ability. And Kentucky has plenty of depth at the 2-guard spot.

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing. If Jordan comes to UK, I honestly fear for his life in 2009-10 when we return to Assembly Hall. I don't see how he makes it from the bus to the locker room without two gunshot wounds. (I keed, I keed!)

So, a couple of tasteless jokes as I part:

* You think CBS is trying to shuffle this year's UK/IU game off national TV? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

* Those chants of "Jor-dan's Bet-ter" back in Assembly Hall will be really, really stinging if Jordan chooses UK. Just sayin'.

Stay strong, Hoosier faithful. I may passionately want your team to lose, but I take no joy from you guys suffering from the aftershocks of a cheater.

Re: Jordan Crawford not returning to IU

Please look at the history with his brother and how that went down. jordan is younger and even less disciplined than his older bro and he ended up riding the bench as a senior and as the best player on the team.

Re: Jordan Crawford not returning to IU

im not suprised at all. It actually suproses me more that he lasted this long. His brother butted heads and had an extremely hard time adjusting to Billy G at UofK. Coach C demands Discipline and hard work as does Billy G. That's something that took Joe Crawford the whole year to comply with UofK. I figured once Jordan went home he wouldn't come back.

Re: D.J. I have to admit Coach Crean is a great PR man, and I think it's because he's genuinly a nice guy. He knows the more people he reaches out to the more people there will be to tell our in state recruits to go to IU ( the greatest place on earth).

Re: Crawford expected to return for sophomore season

This is off topic, but I just got back from hearing Coach talk at Hubers Farm. Wow. He was good and I was impressed. Evrery year I have been to this the coach's set up near the front and you get autographs after but as I and the people I went with were getting ready to stand in line for food I felt a hand on my shoulder saying hi and a guy starting to talk to us. When I turned around it was Coach C. He was asking asking if we wanted anything signed and he saw my camera and said I should start taking some pictures. We were in shock at first lmao. We were all very impressed at how he was in the mix with everyone and was very open. It was also good to see how he has a sense of humor about things that have happened. When he was given a Louisville Slugger bat he joked saying he could of used that when there were flower pots flying around his office a couple weeks ago.
Coach Lynch also brought the Keg of Nails which was awesome to see. We all got pictures holding it with coach Lynch. When my brother took mine I found out later he accidentally cut the Keg out of the picture. Yeah.... I'm gonna kill him. But was very impressed with the event tonight. Coach is a great speaker.

Re: Report: Tijan Jobe to sign with IU today

ugh, I don't know. Oj had been known to have issues. There were alot of questionable things going on. They chose to ignore it and play dumb. We can bring in a guy like this who is alot like Holman. We can try and coach him out of acting like this but it doesn't always work. Look at Pitino and D. Caracter. Pitino gave that kids chance after chance and finally said enough. Are we at a point right now at IU where we want to take a chance on this kid? I Don't think so. I've played football and coached football. There is nothing you can say to justify him hitting someone. Heat of the moment anyway you spin it doesn't justify it. Why do you think MJ and Bird were so good at trash talking? It takes other off there games. This is kid can obviously fall prey to that. He has alot of maturing and mental things to take care of.

Re: Tom Crean statement on dismissed players

As painful as this is to see all this it feeeeels so good to finally....FINALLY see a coach back up what he says with actions. Not deep tourney good but getting on the right track good. Yeah we don't wanna just grab kids to fill positions but we do have to look strong to help in future recruiting, the scandal, cleaning house, the academics situation, etc makes recruiting very hard. Other coaches are all over it. Hopefully Dtrain loses about 20 pounds and learns how to soften his touch. Doing those 2 things would help out tremendously.

Re: Report: Crean to go on the road for 10 days

I would think it was floated by the Sanctions committee and it was either favorable or it would have no effect really.

Re: Williams sticks with Crean, signs with Indiana

Lol the hoosier classic was a joke. How many coaches has Ball stat had teh past 20 years and are we a magnet for them or what? Bad part is, yeah we will have an offense finally, most of the players we have aren't the type of guys TC usually runs in his offense. I think we might get a small miracle or two in the recruiting but I don't think we will fully solve any problems just yet. I can honestly say next year I don't really care how we do as long as they look like their progressing skill wise. Maybe an upset or two and if we make the Tourney I think next season will be a big success. I'm kinda comparing us to U of K this year. We're kinda in the same boat but possibly without Patterson.

Re: Ray McCallum hired as head coach at Detroit

I didnt say he wanted to leave all i was saying is there is obivously a chance that he might want to and this would be the best way for him to do it i personally believe he is in it for the long haul because he saw what TC did to D-Wade and who wouldnt want the chance to do that

Crawford will be Big Ten POY befor his career is over

Re: Ray McCallum hired as head coach at Detroit

I think it;s a little premature to start saying Crawford doesn't want to be here he isn't the one that quit or got kicked off.
