My value from Twitter is a combination of connections and conversations (Yes, sounds cliched!).  I believe these two things are the currency of modern marketing.  Knowing the right people will create additional connections, introductions, new business, etc.  And the number of conversations I have is a true measurement of relevance.  If people aren't talking  to me, then there is something wrong.  There is a third, more personal reason for Twitter - it helps maintain existing relationships.
