Well unfortunately practice records don't keep you employed as a basketball coach in the ncaa. If he was this big time lock down defender....I'm sure he would see more than a quarter a game on a team with several other offensive weapons and a weakness on defense.

Are you narrow minded or just actively seeking to find some sort of way to argue any point I make. The fact is there are kids in the last 6 years that needed a chance to be on the court in garbage games. April is just one example...and he's also another example of a 7'0er that plays less than 10 minutes in his short lived iu career.

Had he played holt more we may not of lost to ewu. I think he'd rather hear complaints about a 10 point win than a 2 point loss. Also hanner could of became more of a contributor last year on a team that was 3 wins from an ncaa appeance.

I think stans positives are derived from being one of the few bright spots from last year. It's still a lingering hangover I suppose. It seems to be that he tries too hard to try and prove something because he isn't as talented as any of our other guards. He needs to slow down. Play hard defense and finish at the basket. With all the negatives he has brought to our team it would be refreshing to see him channel it into some positives on the court.

This is a pretty good team in my opinion. It's missing the elements last year's team needed and if Vonleh was on the court we would be damn good. Damn good. No need to harp on that issue. This team should be ranked 20-25 and make the dance. Success will come down to:
1. Hanner and Holts continued improvement.

2. The amount of effort Troy wants to put into tapping into his potential.

3. Shooting.

4. Coaching. Mostly defense, but also just coaching to the teams strengths not just an idea of offense. We need the right players on the court against certain teams. This is a great opportunity for Crean to grow as a coach and show the fan base what he is made of.

Playing like a back up on most top 20 teams is exceeding expectations to any realistic fan considering his career and playing time at IU.....and that's exactly what we need from him.....and expecting more, considering, is extremely unrealistic.

Hanner is improved. There is no question. The one thing that gets me is that throughout his career he has sat on the bench for many bunny blowout games. That's a big problem I've had with Crean when in comes to Hanner and many other kids. He should of played more minutes early on in garbage games to get a feel for being on the court even if we didn't end up winning by 30. Makes me wonder if he would of come further in a shorter amount of time. He is by no means an all american, but as many fans have agreed we only need 6-8 points and about 6 boards for him to hold his own. He is doing that and time on the court...time to get a feel for the game has been the difference maker.

I just feel blowing teams out by 40 with our regular rotation players does no good. April needs to be on the court. Just as Holt needed to be on the court. Practice can do a lot of good....but sometimes...when there is a good opportunity....you just gotta let basketball players go out there and play basketball.

What great news. Davis is a tough kid. I'm happy to hear his recovery is heading in the right direction.

It is going to be a tough decision if he should come and play. On one hand, I'm sure he wants to come back and play. IU could really use him this year. There is a NEED for Davis.

On the other hand, due to it being a brain injury,its hard to believe it's in his best interest to bang around in big ten basketball especially being somewhat undersized to begin with. If an opponent were to deliver an elbow to Davis the results could be devistating.

I'm sure it will come down to the doctors opinion. In the mean time I wish him and his family the absolute best.

This is not a bad event...we just don't have a very good program. Iu is 262-195 since 2000. That's an average record of 19-14. We have been to the ncaa 8 times and the nit 1 time in 14 seasons.

I don't feel we should have lost, and I'm not making excuses. I'm just pointing out that the opponent may not of been as bad as many think just because they aren't a household name. They are 8-1 with a win at iu and a sole loss to a ranked smu...@smu. That has to be as good of resume as any out there at this juncture.

Sports illustrated had both iu and eastern washington tied for the 26th best team in the country. I don't tthink it's as bad of a loss as many of us initially thought.

JBJ just had his first true test of top level competion and on a big stage. I think he will benefit from it. Understanding what it takes to compete at the consistant level Louisville does will prepare jbj for the big ten and the nba. Blackmon and Johnsons maturity is as good as any freshman to ever wear the candy stripes and it really is a pleasure to watch. As far as louisville' s attitude.....they are a final 4 team....so I guess that's what the attitude of a final four team looks like.
