I prefer AJ Burnett you prefer Derek Lowe. The main reason I prefer Burnett is we need a power pitcher, I'm sick of watching these junk pitchers like Jorge Campillo throw 22 mile an hour curveballs to make their 51 mile an hour fastball look good. Jurrjens can be a power pitcher at times, but his best pitch is his change-up and he doesn't seem like a strike-out type guy. Mike Hampton is just straight junk, cutter after cutter after cutter. Derek Lowe sits on the mound and throws sinkers, sliders, and moving low 90's fastballs. Good, just not quite what we need. We're in the hunt for more of a high-90's fastball guy that can blow the opposition away. That way our junk pitcher looks better the next day. I did an article on building a rotation awhile back, here it is:http://atlantabred.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/05/howto_guide_build_a_rotation.html

Re: Braves Still in the Hunt for Pitching

I must have been mistaken. I assumed he was since he was picked up before the deadline probably.

By "Japanese guy" you must mean "Tazawa". I haven't found any more info about him since that one rumor.

This Peavy thing is getting on my dang nerves. If we have to lose Escobar so be it but I don't like it. Now I hear they're asking for Flowers as well. Heck no!!

Re: Braves Still in the Hunt for Pitching

FYI, Rich Harden is not a free agent. I think the rotation probably looks like:
Peavy, Jurrjens, Japanese Guy, Mike Hampton, Jorge Campillo, though I hope we replace that Peavy name with AJ Burnett. He's my favorite free agent pitcher. Huge power pitcher with electric stuff. He's what the Braves are needing.

http://atlantabred.mlblogs.com/

Re: It’s Just So Beautiful

Incredible day for GT sports.

Re: Confessions of a Braves Fan Pulling for the Phillies

I hope Cole Hamels throws a Perfect Game tonight. I really hope the Braves keep him in their plans for the next few years. Francoeur will be back. Prado is starting at 2nd and we're trading Kelly Johnson. Free agent talks: If we spend a little coin we could grab an Adam Dunn or Pat the Bat. Nady and Bay are probably out of the question. Raul Ibanez would make sense too. Honestly I'd be thrilled if we grabbed any of the players I mentioned. Frenchy and Blanco have roster spots. Infante and Greg Norton have bench spots. Schafer's a year a away. Jason Heyward is 2 years away. B. Jones and J. Anderson will spend the year back and forth from AAA.

I think we did well with the Kotsay trade. We get our youngsters more AB's, we get a mid-level prospect, and we don't lose anything as Kotsay won't command a type B free agent status. If we want him again, we can still sign him. We'll lose more games and get a higher draft pick. If Sumoza blossoms, great. If he doesn't, we didn't lose anything for him. I don't think we lost anything. I think we gained our youngsters some experience. I don't really care if Sumoza blossoms because he probably won't have a place in our starting outfield because our farm is loaded, and I mean loaded, with outfield talent.

http://www.atlantabred.mlblogs.com/

Re: Weighing in on Sumoza and Braves’ Outfield of the Future

I see us going for a free agent Left Fielder, keeping Blanco in center, and Frenchy in right.
