Hmmm... have you ever seen an iMac ? Standards parts my arse. About the only thing in that bloody machine that isn't proprietary and almost impossible to replace without problems is the Memory Stick.. and even that has to be "Mac approved" or something like that. The iMac machines are BEAUTIFUL and I wholly understand people getting them to save space and/or for aesthetic purposes, but it's basically a single-serving computer, almost impossible to upgrade.

And the Mac Pro case is nothing but that.. a case.. and I would sooner jump off a cliff than pay extra $2000 for simple case. Let's face it, it's not THAT pretty. If you want good case design, take a peak at Lian-Li's range of extremely efficient casings. And even though they're horrendously expensive, they don't come close to the Mac Pro case which, incidentally, is not as well designed with sound and airflow in mind.

So if you ask me, Get a Lian-Li case, a few nice computer parts, and then download and install OS-X for PC.. that'll save you at least $1500, you'll be able to upgrade as you please for very low costs, and you'll never know the difference of you don't look at the case! :)

In my opinion, a 100% modular system would be best. If I want Mail, I'll buy it for $25. If I want Writer, I'll buy that for $15 and so forth.. just as long as I don't have to buy the Base Module for $599.99 !

It may be a joke, but this is something I'm seeing more and more in my company and coworkers. To me it seems like most of their time is spent on Facebook or news pages, when they should be WORKING for their salary. If I were the boss, I'd do something about that.. but alas, I am merely the technogeek and draftsman.. nothing I can do but really join them. I mean.. if everybody (literally, not metaphorically) else spends at least an hour or four a day mucking about on the internet, I can muck about for 30 minutes without feeling guilty :)

Well, some people (like me) have a severe aversion to answering machines, and leaving messages on those. That could be one reason. I'd much rather e-mail you and make an appointment, than call and get your machine. If I got the machine, I'd not hang up and call right back though.. I'd hang up and maybe try again in an hour or two.

Like Sean says, you deserve kudos for setting your own boundaries and not adhere to the (very much American) cliché of "The customer has all the right in the world to do whatever he pleases, else he'll sue you".

Luckily, things are (yet) not as bad here in Iceland.. we tell our customers how they should behave, not the other way 'round. :)

What a load of rubbish that headline is. This incident had NOTHING to do with Road Rage, and everything do to with a group of trigger happy sociopaths driving around, looking for an excuse to kill someone.

It's a horrible story, don't get me wrong, but I hate it when news decide to make up bullshit to make news more "interesting"

Look at it this way.. which are you more likely to actually read:
1) Two men killed in a drive-by shooting.
2) Two men fall victim to road rage.

Yeah.. that's what I though.. me too! :)

Honestly... this is just News Commercialism 101. Bah.

I have honestly never seen anyone signing publically, and smile while doing it... it's amazing! It's almost like there's some unwritten rule with them that you must relax your entire face and make no emotions with it, or people might look there instead of your hands :D

Wow.. this is brilliant stuff! Today I don't call that much so even the $80 is too much per month for me, but to be able to call anywhere at anytime from anywhere and as long as you want, for only $80 a month.. that must make a huge crowd of talkative people very very happy :)

I will agree with you on most things here, but I'm still not entirely sure that I'd love to get hundreds of ads into my phone each day. As long as I'd be able to opt-back-out of the service without jumping through burning hoops in a 5-ring circus, then yes.. it could be great.

This is actually one of the things that most annoys me about computers today. Sure, 88% of Icelanders above the age of 14 have high-speed ADSL lines and use them daily, but what about people in such small countries as China? Those very few souls that use the internet there may not be a "relevant" market, but if someone took the time to think about the fact that the government there controls what they can or can not see on the internet, they might think to themselves that web-based applications will only be conceivable in relatively rich countries.. which excludes about 70% of the rest of the world.

Hell, think about Cuba, which were just the other day allowed for the first time ever to SELL COMPUTERS to people. Yes... Cubans may now own a computer! Common Internet access? Naw, they'll probably not see that one for another 10-15 years.

Web-based operating systems.. what a brilliant idea!

They sure as hell don't value you as a customer (heck, it wouldn't be corporate if there were such horrible things as emotions or feelings involved)

And how badly can you screw that up?? Oh ye of little faith. There are no limits to human ineptitude... especially in IT and Tech Support :D

I hate these surveys though... agree with you there. I wish there were a question: "How do you rate this survey" in more surveys.. I usually rate 0 there :D
