But the number of people that actually make a significant income from blogging is a small proportion of would be bloggers for income.

I looked at a lot of blogs that are said to be successsful and my findings are detailed in http://niche-traffic-sale.blogspot.com/2009/03/...

Adsense is a really easy and effective method of monetization but it does take persistence and a lot of work to make things stick

Re: Link Popularity, Is It Really That Important?

Agree with you that in bound links are or should I say could be really powerful, But on page search engine optimization is pretty useful too

Re: Do Not Forget Your BackYard When It Comes to Social Media

Absolutely right. It's not just about the words on your page. It really is also about the WAY you display these words on your page. I am a firm believer in the use of white space in any article or post. It breaks things up a little, less eye strain, so more time spent on the page by visitors

Re: The World has gone to Twitter, Market with it!

Twitter is undoubtedly a good site for networking. At the moment Twitter is a really clean platform and I for one haven't noticed any advertising or banners on it. By advertising I mean like on facebook where you get the little ads down the side. And although I am in online marketing, I like this advert free platform.
If Google were to buy twitter, the ads would probably be Google ads and these are not intrusive. But we could end up with a buyer that outs up huge banner ads plastered all over the place.

On the other hand, google seems to be everywhere and buying everything. Cannot decide whether this is a good thing, a bad thing or something not to concern myself about

Re: Compete.com Names Marketing Pilgrim as “Valuable Niche Audience” for Advertisers

Nice to see a couple of my regular reads i.e webproworld and doshdosh on the list

Traffic Tips's last blog post..If You Must Buy Website Traffic

Re: Social Bookmarking Submission Tools - SocialMarker & Onlywire, and Posttoaster

I use social marker. Especially in the business world
It's about capturing peoples' imagination and building your own inner circle

Take a look at Digg for example. The posts that get the highest number of diggs really do not confom to any set of rules

Social media is big business these days

Look at the obama campaign. As a newbie to the affiliate marketing arena compared to all of those who have commented above, it really is becoming increasingly difficult to establish a presence online.

The advantages that earlier marketers had when trying to eastablish their sites eg no 'no follow' attributes are not available to us.

I think I understand that Google is trying to produce a fair system but with some of the rules, I think ethical marketers can be hurt as much as scammers

Re: It All Depends What The Meaning of “Is” Is

Wow!
