He's already logging miles in Iowa, and still playing the "it doesn't mean anything" game. And he has just as much favor with the conservative base as Palin, if not more. Rush Limbaugh even called him "the next Ronald Reagan".

A great proportion of the Republican base will like whoever Rush and Sean Hannity tell them to like, and that's going to be Jindal.

Re: Judge on Palin: ‘Just because you wear a pantsuit doesn’t qualify you to be in the sisterhood’

Oh no! Culver! Now every Republican in every race across the state can ride us on this issue all the way to election day!

For the record, I think if people in Eastern Iowa (specifically the Cedar Rapids area) don't see some leadership out of their elected officials (local, state, and congressional), you're going to see some big shakeups.

Re: In swing state Iowa, Dallas County is key

Interesting analysis. I'll add one point to consider...while Repub. Dallas County is the fastest growing county in Iowa, liberal Dem. stronghold Johnson County is the second-fastest. Dallas added more than 16,000 since 2000, Johnson gained 14,000 during that time.

Consider this. To win Iowa. Dems need to make inroads in Dallas County. They need to be able to speak to newcomers in places like Waukee and West Des Moines, the fastest growing suburbs. where there are a lot of newcomers to the county--who don't necessarily republican like the majority of the county.

Conversely, to win Iowa, the Repubs need to make inroads in Johnson County. They need to reach newcomers in North Liberty and Coralville, our fastest growing suburbs--where the new suburbanites don't necessarily go along with the liberal vibe the county is known for.

It's going to be tougher for Republicans to get this done than Democrats, but if they want to win, it could be their best chance.
