I'd also recommend checking with any law schools in your state. Many have clinics for law students focused on helping small companies within the state, where the work is supervised by practicing attorneys.

Hi riazrizvi - You were clear and I agree. We need to do what Sen. Obama
promised which is to go through carefully line by line and cut with a
scalpel. I'd recommend he keeps only what we need to have and cut
everything else including "nice to have" items until we get our ship back in
order financially. Regards.

riazrizvi - Nope, a US budget should reviewed carefully like any other budget. I think we need to focus on what we need to have rather than what's nice to have and raise taxes to start filling the gap. Specifically,

Entitlements (Medicare & Social Security) - Immediately put together a bipartisan commission to come up with a recommendation within 6 months and vote up or down like the base closings.

"Human resources" - not sure what that covers but may use some trimming.

Defense - cross out any items pushed by congress (if the navy doesn't want another carrier, don't buy one just because of "jobs"- build a new bridge instead).

That's crazy. Facebook should remove the groups and delete the members who posted them. We need to work together and not be so divisive. If he ever breaks the law, then form the group. In the meantime, let's wish him well and hope he makes the right decisions going forward.

In my opinion, the provisional application is always the way to go since it provides you with an inexpensive filing date and you can update the application with additional provisional filings throughout the following year (each new filing getting a new date) until the 1 year mark where you file your complete up-to-date nonprovisional application and, if application, international application(s).

However, I also believe the provisional should be as complete as possible. Why? Any patent claims which ultimately issue will need to be fully supported by the provisional in order to be entitled to the priority date. Any new limitations added after the original provisional aren't entitled to the first date. Thus, the government filing fee is much cheaper, but you shouldn't skimp on a properly prepared provisional application if you think the invention is important.

As an aside, in the US, we've gone from an overly pro-patent country to an overly anti-patent country and many are still asking for more "patent reform". Compared to just a few years ago, it is substantially more difficult to obtain a patent and to commercialize a patent because of changes made by the US patent office, the Supreme Court and Congress and more anti-patent "reforms" are being pushed. Many changes were needed, but some have gone too far and more are likely. The US lead in innovation is possibly the next bubble to pop.
