How about "Grab the gold and sack the loot. The story of Goldman Sachs and the greatest heist in history."?

Re: NAR Must Add Pro Bono Provision to Realtor Code of Ethics

I suppose a real estate professional's charity of choice is a person they
feel is in need of help or an organization doing charitable work. I think
one ought not think in terms of being forced to do public service-- if you
don't feel it's worth it, don't do it.

Not sure I understand what would be the penalty for not doing voluntary pro
bono work. I don't suppose it would be like impoundment of your assets and
jail for not paying your taxes. Heck, that wouldn't be nice. For example, I
don't know of any lawyers being forced to do pro bono work , though some
should be.

Re: NAR Must Add Pro Bono Provision to Realtor Code of Ethics

I believe every major brand has a designated charity. I totally understand why lawyers need to have human compassion mandated. If one has to be forced by regulation, doesn't it sort of become like, say our "voluntary" tax system? We could fund the NAR-IRS with extra fees on WIFI at the conventions.

Re: The Power of HD Video

It shouldn't be at all, with the new codecs keeping low bit rate but still HQ videos. He has never sold a home. You have. And as far as who should know best, you have my vote, not a spokesmodel.

Agreed, inaccurate zestimates do provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your competence and local knowledge BUT only if you can engage a buyer about it-- Unfortunately, the buyer may not be there to engage-- he or she may just pass over homes online where the gap between zestimate and list price is disconcerting, esp those buyers who put faith in the zestimate. You will never know they passed you by.

Re: feeds

First let me say that the decision to exclude addresses should be the listing agents and client. I do not advocate one way or the other-- I only share an alternative you may find useful.

As this post explains, by listing a home w/o an address (or house #), ZIllow gives you a 2nd page, to which you can add listing info that does not appear on the normal zillow page. Now, if you like, take whatever you want from the normal zillow page, including the zestimate-- it's up to you-- and you have, in effect, 2 listing pages, able to be found by every buyer, despite how they search the site.

Perhaps unwittingly or without thinking it all the way through, Zillow has created this parallel world where you can control what information is displayed, or not displayed, with your listing. So yes, maybe you are able to recapture some control. In any case, 2 pages are better than one IMO.

Thanks for your comment Agent 21

PS: I do not know how other listing bots work.

Re: Bizarro Zillow: How to List a Home Without a Zestimate: The Tale of Two Pages

Joseph: I have multiple feeds available to me for my listings, Thank you for drilling down in such a thorough manner. Inaccurate Zestimates do not bother me in my Zestifarm or on my listings, because I embrace the opportunity to discuss the discrepancies-it gives me an opportunity to demonstrate competence and local knowledge.
It appears that listing brokers should ensure that the bulk feeds do not include addresses to enable the creation of a second page. Do the other listing .bots work the same way? Are listing brokers slowly recapturing their listing data?

On a macro level: Is this a case of the livestock being recaptured after the barn door was left open all these years?

Re: Trulia Goes Pro

For $40 a month, do they turn off the no follow? Otherwise an agent is paying to create relevance for Trulia, not their own branding.

Re: The Power of HD Video

With broadband providers throttling back bandwidth and adding surcharges, I think HD might be in trouble for a while. What consumer is going to subject themselves to bandwidth surcharges to look at listings? Will listing brokers be obligated to deploy some kind of "reverse the charges" system to expose the listings via HD video? Will we see a subscription charge to view my HD listings?
