in Who Cares What You Think? on Andrew McAfee's Blog
People absolutely care what you think. Think about it this way: How did I find your site? Because I cared about what other people think.

One persons garbage is another persons treasure. What one person says may be meaningless to you but to someone else it expands their minds or opens their eyes or to something they never could have experienced.

in Dollar Supports… For Now on Afraid to Trade Blog
Comment by Richard InBellingham via email (published with permission) - my thanks for his comment:

The direction of all wealth, except the Yen, FXY, is down.

The US Dollar, $USD, will fall in a death spiral lower with all currencies.

Even though gold could easily fall to $850, $825, $800 or $775, with a falling EURJPY, I recommend diversification of investment in gold in four locations "immediately": the gold ETF, GLD, directly through streetTRACKS Gold Trust, and not in a brokerage account; two BullionVault, three GoldMoney; and four a limited number of gold coins.

Last week the SEC announced a ban on short selling of the financial companies, and on Friday we had the Mother of all short covering rallies.

Today, I received the proceeds of the SKF trade I was forced out of, at sizeable loss. I used that and all available cash to buy gold and silver coins.

One can use the linked article for my bearish appraisal of the current stock market.

I've already whined about adding enough features to drive you guys insane but i have to suggest one of the coolest possible things any development team in history could do

You emphasize how important customization is sooooo:

when the game comes out, maybe you guys could post the average 3 Dimensional scale of the accessories and hats and whatnot and do the file structure in a way that would make it somewhat easy for someone to make their own accessories too.

Although it would be difficult to show on internet based games it shouldnt be that difficult to perhaps display it on either just the users screen with default equipment on others, or if you are feelin crazy you could make the custom things a tiny forced download within a certain size limit, uploaded and distributed by the host of said game....

thats just my 2 cents.. (i get carried away easy)

I love the style and direction this game is going in. I'm already like dreaming of its release. I can see my self playing it for hours! It looks like you've made a lot of progress from scratch. You have made it pretty clear that customization is important to you as developers and I couldn't agree more.. Any idea what kind of powerups/weapons you guys are planning on?

in The Ron Paul question: Will enthusiasm translate to support? on The Iowa Independent
Huhm Russell I hate to tell you this, but this article is about Ron Paul. To be honest with you Duncan Hunter has around 1% the chance that Ron Paul has. Duncan Hunter missed ballot access in 5 states already. Now if you are true to your wanting to help America by securing the border than Ron Paul is indeed the last man standing for you.

The whole "this is American" explanation is wrong in that it is an incomplete answer to this issue...the problem isn't that the FSC approach is American but that the approach is the normal American approach to soccer.

If you watch any other sport in America, you would be inundated with analysis of the game before, at halftime, and at the end. Anybody (I'm looking at you tyduffy) who says that American sports coverage doesn't have substance hasn't watched a good American Football preview show (like Monday Night Countdown)...sure, there is a lot of hype in those shows but they also have a lot of analysis.

Stop calling this an American issue...the issue is that FSC & GolTV have low budgets and thus they use their on-air personalities as low-rent teleprompter analysis also. If either channel spent the money then I am sure you could get a good American color analyst that wouldn't sound like a muppet.

in England’s Euro 2008 Fate Is in Israel’s Hands | EPL Talk on EPL Talk
Oh, and that comment by Harry Redknapp about kids playing video games? Ridiculous...OK, so kids do play more games these days but managers were probably just as suspect about television when it was a nascent technology...all the hand-wringing about kids playing with newfangled devices & and the talent pool drying up is just people grasping at straws to explain something that seems so unexplainable to them: how can a group of highly trained, highly paid in their club teams, and highly visible players not be able to come together to even qualify? Well, chemistry is important and it is evident that the England team hasn't been built with chemistry in mind for quite some time...this reminds me of the US Basketball team and its woes in some tournaments in the past years.

I have a real problem with anyone who says that talented players are "too far and few between" for the England National Football Team to qualify in any international competition...I mean, how many well supported leagues does England have?

Yes, the Premiership does have a lot of foreign players...that means that the FA & English managers need to adapt and start focusing on the Championship & lower leagues now for international players then. But when you have 4 major professional divisions & then the Conference, a nation should have no right saying that there aren't enough good players to field an amazing national team. Maybe England should stop relying on older Premiership players and start focusing on using lower league talent that is willing to work with the national team for training for a longer period of time....

in Are England Rugby Players More Patriotic Than the Footballers? on EPL Talk
Maybe it has more to do with how joyless the "honor" of playing on England's football team seems to be...you get booed for the smallest bad performance, a nation that has only won 1 World Cup puts more pressure on the team then Brazil & Argentina combined, you have people examining your personal life details every day...it seems that I wouldn't be so fervently patriotic either.

in Alexi Lalas Criticizes Premier League on EPL Talk
I understand that parity goes a long way and it is refreshing to see someone really defending the quality of our football here in the States but Lalas should choose his words more carefully: because he outright called the Premier League an "inferior product", those reporters who are looking for sound bites & quotes to use against the MLS have even more fuel to add to the fire.

Yes, the MLS has more parity then the Premier League...but it lacks the atmosphere, fierce rivalries, concentration of skilled players, and such things that are basic to most football leagues like relegation battles. For all the reasons above, it is idiotic to call the Premier League inferior...once again, Lalas should think about choosing a better line of defense then slamming the EPL.

in A Benefit of a European Super League for Americans on EPL Talk
Any team that joins a "Super League" will receive no support from me...the reason I am attracted to teams in Europe is the history & cup competitions they are involved in and yet these large teams seem to think that they can exist out of what made them so great in the first place. You would see a league like this successful for a few years but then people would get tired...sorry, I rather watch the Championship then a football version of the US NFL.

Kyle,
I think you are right. Scripture is the key.we should also try to view the criticisor with compassion, knowing that there are often spiritual forces at work. Our response to the criticism will affect our spiritual walk and their's as well. Being a leader comes with grave responsibility, but wonderful rewards as well.

in AA Debacle on Community Guy
Do you have proof of this alleged incident? Didn't think so. You are no different than the 1,000s of other freeloaders that file frivilous lawsuits against companies or complain about non-existent problems in the hopes of getting something for nothing.

A true business professional does not whine on a blog and try to harm the reputation of a company that he alleges loyalty to. Kind of like a wife beater that goes to the bar and brags to his buddies in a twisted attempt at gaining approval for his actions - even though he knows what he has done is wrong.

If you transact business with companies other than AA, ask them how long you would retain a relationship if you aired your grievances in a public forum. (please post the results of that survey here)

Be a professional and confine your grievances, alleged or otherwise, to private channels. The real question should be; Why is Southwest afraid to operate from DFW?
