This is the kind of innovation I'm talking about. When more green products figure out how to make things cheaper and are more aesthetically pleasing, then the mass market will really start to latch onto the trend.

Coming from the way opposite side of the fence, I work in the automotive publishing industry and I can tell you that there is an amazing amount of disdain for the Volt only because the more Chevy focuses on this car, the more they push back the release of the new Camaro.

I know, not exactly a subject of interest here, but "hotrodders" will always be hotrodders and no amount of alt-energy technology is going to change that until some company DOES come out with a car that will do 0-60 in 4 seconds, and look good too.

In fact, the key to mass appeal with any of the new EV cars is aesthetics. Flat out, it doesn't matter how efficient of functional a vehicle is, if it looks like ass, people won't buy it.

Leave it to the Germans to take an eyesore and turn it into something cool.

One thing I have yet to wrap my head around, being new to the green movement, is why the boxy look is so ubiquitous with modern, green architecture. Don't get me wrong, I love modern design, but the freight carton look is very pervasive and I'm not exactly sure why. If someone knows why, I'd love to hear it.
