in Want Instant Messaging on Nokia? Try Palringo on The Nokia Blog
From the Palringo FAQ:

"Furthermore, your Palringo account is saved on our servers. You can log in from anywhere and from any device and all of your IM accounts will be available without the need to add them again."

That only works if Palringo stores your login details.

in Lonely Planet : The Book Guide vs the Nokia Maps Guide on ZOMG its Cj
But did you find the Taj Mahal in Nokia Maps? Delhi may be covered pretty well, but Agra doesn't seem to exist according to Nokia.

I tried to locate the Taj Mahal in Nokia Maps 2.0 and 3.0 beta ( http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2009/02/nokia-ma... ), and both failed miserably. The entire city of Agra (population close to 2 million) is no more than two crossing main roads on Nokia Maps.

Google Maps had no trouble finding the Taj Mahal. Simply searching for "Taj Mahal" will do the job. It's on their map and on their satellite image. If you try that in Nokia Maps, you'll find a long list of indian restaurants named Taj Mahal all over the planet, but you won't find the architectural masterpiece in Agra.

PiZero wrote: "This theme should work well for both Fp1 and Fp2 symbian."

It can be installed on FP2, but it doesn't really work well.

- Label above the central navigation button is black on blue and therefore unreadable

- With "automatic find" switched on in Messaging, labeled text is a diificult to read red on blue

- Music player: many icons in the "music menu" are black on bue -> almost invisible

- connection manager: highlighted

WLAN symbols are white on light grey -> almost invisible

Can you fix these bugs? Grazie!

in SIPping from the VOIP fountain on Paul Jacobson
Hi Paul,

May I suggest you try another SIP/Skype/VoIP/chat app?

Nimbuzz recently released a new version, and they've beaten fring on sound quality. That wasn't too hard, because the fring server that routes your calls appears to be a bit overloaded.

fring is still good, but that's mainly because of their instant messaging features. In terms of (lack of) delays and echos and static you're better off with Nimbuzz than with fring.

I recently tried the latest versions of Nimbuzz, fring, and Talkonaut: http://symbianism.blogspot.com/search/label/VoIP

It's been a while since I tried Gizmo (early July). Did you notice any improvements in Gizmo in the past three or four months?

Cheers!

pauljacobson Hi there

I have installed Nimbuzz and I am testing it out from an IM
perspective. It seems pretty decent. I haven't tried voice services
using any of these services as yet so I haven't compared voice quality.

I only installed Gizmo when I posted about it so I don't know what it
was like before then. I am not very impressed with the Mac client
though (it just doesn't seem to be able to scan my contacts and import
other users).
