I think it's worth checking out Danah Boyd and Fred Stutzman on this. Having no privacy is the privilege of a certain strata of the tech elite, but you only have to see the adoption of privacy controls on Facebook to see that people love privacy.

The 'Get over it' attitude is similar to the 'if you're doing nothing wrong then you shouldn't mind the Government snooping' attitude. If anyone can say they've never thought or done anything they don't want to share with everybody, then go for it on no privacy. I'm more of the belief that privacy has never been a more important factor in design. (Read Tom Coates on FireEagle to back this up).
