I'm hoping for some kind of miracle but I seriously can't see Bama stopping the running game of Auburn. No one else has. If they did pull it off, it would be one of the sweetest victories in their football history. But . . . it's . . . not ... going . . . to ... happen.

I'll be in Montgomery next Thursday through Sunday. I hope I can see Erika and yourself for a few minutes at least. Planning a drink-up for Friday night with soem friends. Let me know if I should contact you guys.

Take care.

Mitch

Re: Proof in the Picture

I believe Auburn deserves a shot at the national title but, if the latest BCS rankings are any indication, they are being squeezed (no pun intended) out of the picture. The BCS is never going to screw USC (regardless of that joke of a league they play in) because they screwed them last year (when they were easily the best team), while Oklahoma seems to be in a good position thanks to their coach questioning the media's romance with Auburn. Never mind the fact they have easily been one of the better teams this year. I hope it gets screwed up again. The BCS is on the edge of extinction, and it knows it. If you had Auburn left out of the mix, that might be the final death knell for that stupid system and we will say hello to a 4 or 8 team playoff, which I think would be best.

Now, concerning Alabama: I think Shula has gotten a bum deal from the fans. Yes, Bama has lost three straight to the Tigers (um, folks, Bama is on probation! AUburn isn't. Of course they're the better program right now!) and Bama has yet to win a game at Tuscaloosa since the game went back there (that is quite sad seeing as how Bama couldn't beat Auburn in Jordan-Hare at first) but this team won 6 games without its top two offensive players. Hell, if Hudson or Croyle doesn't go down, this team wins 8 games easy. I think Bama fans (who are routinely a buncha bastards) should chill out, give Shula a chance, and enjoy the basketball season because Alabama has one hell of a team this season.

Re: 584

Too late

Re: The Greatest American?

It's not surprising that something like that would occur. Wasn't it hosted by that media whore bully, Matt Lauer?
Ronald Reagan, eh? Hrm, obviously that whole bloodshed business in Central America is thought of as a great moment. Maybe the continued rise of corporate cronyism and a demolished economy stuck in people's minds when they voted. Or maybe it was the tons of crack cocaine smuggled into the inner cities by the CIA? Who knows?

George W. Bush at number 6? Okay, this is even more insulting. This mindless killer would deserve that ranking on a different list ( dumbest world leaders, greatest tyrants, etc. ).
I pray that this whole batch of miserable degenerates will one day be remembered as a scourge of American history that almost completely destroyed everything this country stands for, if they haven't already. God, I hate this man and anyone - anyone - who supports him. I hate that I am so struck with anger whenever I see some person in front of me with a Bush/Cheney sticker on their vehicle. I know it's small and juvenile to hate these people but this administration is destroying this country. Okay, enough Bush ranting.

As far as greatest American goes . . . . hrm . . . my vote would have to go to Louis Armstrong. Seems like a good vote.

Re: The Greatest American?

Yes, but it's important to remember that Miles Davis himself said that no horn player had played anything that Louis Armstrong hadn't. Not to mention Miles Davis was a straight bastard. In the end no one is perfect but Miles was a real bastard; and I love the man's music.

In a way, I just don't think there is such a thing as greatest American. If there is one, it's most likely a person we have never heard of who was kept quiet by our increasingly oppressive society. Ah, I'm being a curmudgeon again. Sorry about that.

Re: The “W” Sticker

hahahahaha. Oh man, that was good.

By the way, I heard Phil was closing. The news broke my heart. I may have to come back to Montgomery just to wish him a fond farewell.

Re: Happy New Year

You guys are looking good. I like that Jerimiah Johnson look you've got going on. Hell, if I could grow a beard, I'd grow one down to my knees, steal Rasputin's identity, and reap the benefits that come with being considered eccentric.

Let's hope 2006 is a good 'un

Re: Happy New Year

John,

You may have seen this film already, but, in case you haven't, please follow this link

http://www.question911.com/links.php

There are several videos to watch; however, I encourage you to watch Loose Change: Second Edition first. The film is roughly 1hr 20m. Show it to everyone you know if the mood strikes you.

I also took the liberty of adding your email to my contact list. Over the course of the week I like to send out articles and what not from the political arena as a way of spreading news and keeping in touch with friends and family who are not in my immediate vicinity. If the stuff bores you just drop a line and away they go.

One more thing: I am planning to be in Montgomery sometime in July so I hope we can get together for a few drinks. I hope everything is fine. Pass along my regards to Erika.

Later.
