That's the best they could come up with? I would have expected something a lot better from a player like Yahoo.

I've banked with ING Direct for a while and really enjoy it. Their interface leaves something to be desired but you can't beat the cool higher-interest bearing savings and checking accounts!

I agree with Sean on his points. This seems like a logical thing for the City or other local government to manage; although, I think, having worked for the government myself, I know there can be a lot of red tape to cut through on just about any decision. It could also be done by a local chamber of commerce pretty easily as well or be developed into a not-for-profit group managed by a board.
I am also available for a meeting at any point and would like to be involved in the brainstorming, planning and implementation of this project.
It seems Roanoke.com tries to do some of this stuff, but I think it can be done MUCH better, especially with an eye on Web 2.0.
Looking forward to hearing from others,
Marty

in 110 Job Openings in Roanoke on Connecting People
Where are they posting these jobs? I guess the newspaper is too expensive to post them all, but at least they should put an ad in there saying they have openings, check our website!
Maybe I should be smarter though and just check it first! :)

in JOBS NOW! on Connecting People
Hey Stuart,
Thanks for the great information. Networking is extremely important everywhere, but I personally believe as you do that it's vital in this region if we are to move onward and upward.
I have sent my resume and cover letter to Webmail, Inc for one of their sales positions. I'll keep you posted if I make any progress. From reading Pat Matthew's posts on his blog (http://patmatthews.typepad.com/blog/2005/07/what_i_love_abo.html) I can say I'm very hopeful to be contacted by them. It seems like they have a terrific work environment and he is a really great individual to work with/for. All the info I've previously read in the periodicals and Internet reviews have great things to say about their company.
Thanks for the followup by email too!
