in Did Time Magazine announce something? on Scobleizer
Oh, no, the second wave starts now ... bloggers back from the weekend, rushing to post the "news".
By now it must be really hard to write anything that's not been said on the subject...

in Did Time Magazine announce something? on Scobleizer
Same here ... read it very-very early, before the whole world posted about it. For a minute I pondered blogging it, than I realized this will be the mandatory subject on ALL blogs be it the A-list or Z-list :-) After a while there's nothing to add, just parroting each other...
(I could not leave a comment with my blog url, I seem to be on Akismet's blacklist - trying from a Wordpress id now)

in Vista beta testers mad about forced startup sound on Scobleizer
Oh, for God's sake it can't possibly be by design... It's a beta, and with Microsoft's so-called stable products being so buggy, what do you expect? Just be happy it doesn't force an automatic reboot every 30 minutes :-)

in I want a wiki… on Scobleizer
Robert, what do you mean by "low cost"? Should be free:-) If it's only for your personal use, any of those mentioned in the previous comments will do.
If you expect interaction from people not necessarily familiar with wikis, Wetpaint is almost your only choice: the Wiki-less Wiki that combines wiki, blog and forum-like features. Nothing else is as simple to use as Wetpaint.
I am about to do what you plan: launch my own wetpaint wiki as a sidekick to the blog and a social experiment.

in The “river” versus “folder” RSS approach on Scobleizer
I don't like the river style in Outlook either, so the new Attensa release does not do anything for me (it may have fixed bugs though).
I do have a trick in Outlook though: I have folders by blogs (authors), but dont' read them directly: set up a search folder for "unread" in the Attensa file, and made this search folder a "favorite", and I keep the original Attensa folder collapsed
This way the favorite always shows the number of new feeds, they are sorted under Blog titles, and when I read somehting, it automatically disappears from the favorite (unread) listings, as if I deleted it. If I want to go back to an already read post, I just pull it up from the main Attensa folder.

in Will money make Technorati better? on Mathew's comments
Matt, thanks for linking to my post - I need to calrify though, that I am not going out of my way to bash Technorati.
In fact, in the article you pointed to and several others I recognized them as Innovators in the blogosphere: what they do is cool, just fails to work at scale. So they have operational problems, can't keep up with the explosive growth of the blogosphere, hence the call for a "white knight" who would acquire them and put the robust infrastructure in place. The investment, if it goes towards infrastructure could have the same effect, so to get back to your title, yes, money can make Technorati a LOT better.

in Online wordprocessor updated, but does it have a chance at survival? on Scobleizer
I forgot to add, you are right, "Microsoft Office ended up kicking ass" for having all components, but let's just remember the early years, you had Word and Excel not talking to each other, moving data was a major pain... it was not a Suite, just individual applications. (In fact I used Works back then, it was a hands-down winner for me due to the integration...).
Anyway, that's exactly the point the Zoho guys have not missed, first delivering all components of a Suite, then integrating them - these will not be point solutions for long.

in Online wordprocessor updated, but does it have a chance at survival? on Scobleizer
Robert, Zoho is not a financially shaky startup that may or may not be around tomorrow. They are part of Adventnet, a company that grew for 10 years organically (no VC's) from nothing to 500 or so employees and dozens of networking, security...etc. products. That was the "old boring (but moneymaker) product line, and I think they made a smart move to brand all the Office 2.0 stuff as Zoho - fresh, new, fashionable :-)
So I don't think longevity is an issue with them, which will really be important when we decide to trust them with all our online data, not just newly created documents - they will soon have ZohoDrive. While on the subject, they are the only ones with a complete office suite, including the Excel and PowerPoint replacements. Yes, I know, functionally just a subset, yadayada, but you know what I mean .. for the 90% of us who use 10% of the functionality, it's good enough:-) Btw, they also have calendar as part of Virtual Office (yes, the Outlook replacement), Creator, a CRM-package, Polls, and I don't even know what else.
I have not heard of them until half a year or so ago, but they appear to be a formidable force quite bent on being the Web App provider for small businesses and individuals.

in Garage sale powered by Craigs List (and signs) on Scobleizer
If in Seattle Craigslist brings 3 out of 10, here in the Bay Area it must be 8 out of 10:-) It's the ONLY place worth advertising, other than the signs dislayed at busy corners.

in Sorry, I don’t do Social Networks anymore on Scobleizer
Robert, you are now a celebrity, your blog is THE social network for you. I am not an A-lister, but I find myself using LinkedIn a lot less. I don't really ave time to actively reach out to other people, since I am being found through the blog. But a year ago I found LinkedIn very useful, and I suspect for most people in business it still is.
They should think fast of ways to integrate with blogging platforms.

in Bad news, my mom is in hospital on Scobleizer
Robert, this may be the one case where I wouldn't trust wikipedia that much, Google - while time-consuming - may turn out better results: medical journals, clinical studies, research papers ..etc. I know it's a lot to sift through, but you actually learn from top doc's vs. the "consensus" stuff at wikipedia. My mom was a cancer-suspect for a good 6 months last year, and we learned a tremendous amount of information. (She is OK now). Wish all the best to your Mom.

in Let’s ban “cool” codenames that don’t pass search test on Scobleizer
What do you think of intentionally mispelled common words that in pronunciation describe the product, but are only available as domains and are only unique on search because of the "typo"? Case in point: Vyew. Can such names actually become Brands?

in Halfway through my blog vacation (change in comment policy) on Scobleizer
“Do you know of other kids of geeks who are doing podcasts or video blogs?” No, but I know a kid who started a company at age 14. He is also an active blogger, consumes/reviews a hundred or so books a year. I guess I can’t call him a kid now, he’s just become 18.
There’s another reason why he belongs to this thread: one of his initiatives along with Chris Yeh is the Silicon Valley Junto, which had an interesting lunch discussion about Happines. Since you appear to be thinking about these things nowadays, you would have been a good addition to our table, and you’d have enjoyed it too…
Damn, I managed to write a comment without linking to myself! – but it felt good:-)
No, I’m too selfish for that, here;s my piece about the “kid”.
