in The TechMeme killer or the Google Reader killer? on Scobleizer
I *want* to like FriendFeed, but I hyperventilate when I look at it. It just makes me feel like I'm drowning in information.

Too much stuff, most of which is unimportant (ie. I won't die if I don't catch every tweet from friends, I need to remind myself of that), and the thought of yet another place for discussion just irks me.

If FriendFeed was able to write back into the original social networks, I'd consider using it more, but at the moment, it's read-only and commenting within FF doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe one day, but for now, it's just an "hmm well its nice!" network for me.

I'll leave it up to people like you, Robert, to sell me on it.

in More good vibes on Marketing Begins At Home
Fully deserved whuffie at that! You guys were one of the more inspirational panels of the week.

Now we need to translate all those good ideas and take them out of the social media bubble into our real day to day challenges to be applied. Herein lies the challenge.

Thanks again for this panel, already looking forward to next year's SXSWi.

Look at you getting comments from big shots like Jim :)

And Jim, I would really suggest heading towards WordPress, it's so wonderful and I'd wax lyrical about it forever, even for us non-techies!

in Valleywag getting crap for posting my phone number on Scobleizer
I don't see anything wrong with posting a phone number online. As you said, no one's forcing you to pick it up.

However, someone who *was* an idiot last week is Jeremy Clarkson, Car TV celebrity and irreverent columnist in the UK. He posted his bank details. Someone immediately set up a Direct Debit from his account to a charity to prove how easily his details could be used.

What an idiot! :P

in Take My Google Reader Shared Items PLEASE on Chris Brogan
Hey Chris, Just added you as GTalk friend so that I can see your shared items up in "friends' shared items" rather than as just one of the usual feeds I read :)

Definitely a feature of Google Reader I enjoy using, and hopefully those who read my Shared items feel the same way!

Which other feeds are included? I'm curious to see what Amazon views as worthy of being included in the 250ish feeds. It should be quite telling of their expected target audience, I suppose.

in TechMeme list heralds death of blogging? on Scobleizer
And in addition to my comment above, I wouldn't have believed it either a few years ago if you'd told me my blog would lead to getting a job in mobile blogging!

Thankfully, it all happened, and I'm loving it!

Bah! I still feel both Twitter and my WP blog have a purpose. Twitter is for brain farts and short statements. Blog is for real posts or longer comments.

Not everyone likes writing run-on 10-tweets messages, Robert ;)

in Thomas Hawk, watch out… on Scobleizer
Giving a child a camera is giving him a way to remember his own childhood in his own way, rather than in the birthdays-and-weddings only way.

With today's amazing technologies, taking and sharing pictures has become so much easier - that's something Patrick may be taking for granted, but that I'm sure he'll appreciate in another 13 years.

I'm sure Milan will also enjoy this when he's older. :)

To Patrick: I've added you to my Flickr contacts, I love your photos.

Robert, I still don't understand what benefits you see in using ShoZu over the built-in Flickr uploader on your N95.

I've found the built-in uploader to be far more reliable and less invasive than ShoZu (which pops up and asks you if you want to upload after every pic you take!)

Do you have any particular wise reasons to take the ShoZu route we should know about?

Citizen journalism in action!

I've loved my N95 from the day I got it (a couple of weeks ago), but since I've sorted out the web upload straight to Flickr, I see pictures-sharing in a whole new light.

Casually taking photos and publishing them has become so effortless. Between using Skitch (plasq.com/skitch) for screenshots and the N95 when out and about, I really am rediscovering Flickr!

in Twitter mobile does links now on Scobleizer
Fabulous to see they listen to advice! I asked for the exact same thing a few weeks ago!

Unfortunately, with links being tinyurl's, it's very difficult to gauge what type of site it's taking you through to (mobile friendly or not). I wonder if they should transcode the results... but that's another whole project!
