End of the Spear officially was released to U.S. theatres on January 20, 2006, according to the Every Tribe Entertainment website. Maybe they aren't going by theatre release? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

My favorite part is at the end of the movie when the characters see past their own selfishness (and pain), cancel their own agendas and put that energy all to loving on that little girl. That's how I want to live my life, except in a less disturbing & weird way.

I don't see it as an "evangelical" issue. I see it as a "human being" issue. Many of the people I've talked to about it (all of them I would consider evangelical) are either ignoring the issue or see it as a "liberal" issue. Kind of like how we used to view "those hippie recyclers". It would be nice to see us evangelicals step up and make this a more important cause to us. Right now, all we see is Al Gore - once he's involved, we assume it'a a liberal issue, not a universal one. Gotta love bipartisanship.

I work for a lighting company and "green-friend", "sustainable", and "energy-efficient" are the buzz words in the kitchen and bath industry right now - especially at the manufacturer level.

As far as Obama goes, I just don't know what to think yet. He seems to say what everyone wants him to hear. But that's where it stops. Just surface and no depth (not yet anyway). But there is something inherently likable about the guy. I can't explain it, which bothers me a little. It's just a waiting game right now...

I actually do think it's important. Not because it's a "title", but because it gives the people the impression of a certian education level. Referring to yourself as "Dr." can give a false sense of trust in how much a person knows, has studied and that they've finished a degree program. (Which isn't always an easy thing to do, besides the smarts, it takes dedication and hard-work.)

I would imagine some of these people have probably been given a honorary doctorate from a college at some point in their ministry.

Part of me thinks it's valid, but not for the reasons their website gives. American Idol hasn't produced one legitimate star since season 1,(are her career didn't really take off until after she broke away from the management company) and a few underdogs have gotten farther in their career without winning (Chris Daugherty, for one example). I wonder if 19 Entertainment is just bad a managing musicians? I've heard some of Taylor Hicks' CD and some of it stellar and some of it is just awful, and it's getting virtually no play time. Seems to me that voting for the worst might allow some of the better artists to get out before the show/management company screws up their careers too much.

While I don't like most of the content of the video, I think I see what he's trying to do.

Men, by their nature, place a large importance on victory. Failure is a big deal to a man, and there is a new crop of thinkers out there trying to "raise the men up" in the church (John Eldridge, David Murrow). These thinkers tend to use a lot of fighting and rescuing-type vocabulary words as way for church to seems less "wussy" or "girlie" - which is what many of the guys I know in their 20s see church as being. I think he's trying to reach that demographic (men, not unchurched men in their 20s, that is) by "speaking their language".

I don't think Discroll was as successful as he could have been. Ironic, no?

But I'm a girl. Clearly I'm not his target audience.

I do think being vulnerable is about revealing your "secret identity". It's that part of ourselves we all keep from the rest of the world. And letting people in on that requires a trust that they won't mess with your heart... and that kind of trust is really hard to come by.

They didn't need to do a brain scan to get that result. They could just come to my house for a couple of days. I'm a poster child for that.

I know my blogging is therapeutic. Because mostly strangers read it, I don't censor myself the way I would in a conversation with a friend. Often I sit down to write - not knowing where I'm going - and come out the other end with some slap-in-the-face realizations because I was able to be that raw.

For me, writing is a release. Once it's written, it's processed (maybe not fully, but processed nevertheless) and it allows me to take the next step into healing and restoration. I am thankful I've discovered it. I imagine it's saved me a lot in therapy bills.

I've had a tough time respecting Katie since she had the nerve to blame the evangelicals (and she specifically named James Dobson) for the death of Matthew Shepard.

The boys that killed Shepard could barely talk or function properly in the real world, much less express any kind of faith-agenda in the murder of a gay man. What she did was not only ridiculous, but really, really bad journalism.

Good for him. For a numbers of reasons... for keeping the "how to" open source and for sticking it to the man. Apple shouldn't have made AT&T exclusive with them. AT&T doesn't have good service in a number of places, and it was not smart for Apple to limit service that way. They could've made a lot more money by doing this in the first place.

While I understand that those in the ministry are "uniquely unqualified" I also think of a pastor friend of mine who recently uprooted from Kansas City to California because his wife got a job there. While he's still looking for a pastoral job, he has no trouble waiting tables. (And he has some pretty funny blog entires about his experiences, as well.) He applied for anything and everything. And he wasn't too prideful to take that waiter job.

I would think a man like Haggard would have a substantial savings, and while it's hard to dip into those things (especially when you have kids) everyone else has to do it when the need arises. So why not him?

That's how I feel about the death penalty.

But to ponder the issue of evidence, the DNA issue is tough because a very smart criminal knows how not to leave any. DNA evidence could be present, but the person could still walk. (O.J., anyone? Lots of blood DNA of his was present at the scene. Blood DNA at a murder scene is very different that other types of DNA at a murder scene, I think.)

A person's DNA at the scene only proves that they were there, not that they committed the crime. It would be nice if prayer were a part of the system. We rely too much on what we think and feel instead of allowing God guiding us.

But separation of church and state is a part of why our founding fathers made the constitution the way they did, and why they wanted to leave England in the first place.

The difficulty in your questions KB, is that ultimately we are talking about "degrees" of sin.

It;s a sin to kill someone, and it's also equally sinful to hold someone as a slave. Sin is sin, right? That's what we've all been taught. Expect that I believe sin is sin in God's eyes. Maybe we need to look at punishments for crimes (that are in fact sins) from a different perspective. I don't know if that's an answer, but maybe it's a place to start.

Life in prison gives us more of a chance to reform a person, to lead them to Christ, to allow God to work in their life.

I actually think he might not move up in the polls because of this decision. I watched one of the debates on the Fox News channel and they gave the audience "dials" to measure how they were feeling about the candidate at the moment. (They were wanting to see how what was said affecting the audience as it was said.) Intriguing.

Results? Every time a candidate bashed Clinton, their approval rate went up.

My experience with Grudem left a bad taste in my mouth... and it's still there 9 years later. (I did some PR during on of the many gender neutral NIV controversies.) World magazine published an article FULL of erroneous information regarding plans to revise the NIV bible, and Grudem jumped on his ill-informed bandwagon, along with several other higher-ups in the evangelical world, and more or less slandered the good men and women on the translating committee. Thankfully, the Zondervan and IBS filed ethics charges against Word magazine, and Evangelical Press Association reprimanded them for their poor journalism.

All that aside, Grudem said and did some hateful things to Zondervan and IBS that only an insider like me would know about. So, my opinion of him and several other "big guns" in that world isn't that high. And I plan to never work for a Christian business again... it's just too political and full of back-stabbing for my taste.

So I take his words for what they are... words. And his words don't mean too much to me. He should stick to theology, what is truly gifted at, and stay out of politics.

I think he is right regarding Romney's ability to run a business. That would make him a great Chief of Staff, not a great president. Please don't run my country like a business, that just doesn't make a lot sense to me, and it's the reason why Ross Perot didn't win back in the 90s.

For example, John McCain is almost as consistent in his conservative voting record and stance on issues as Romney.(In fact, he's slightly more conservative on some big issues such as the energy crisis and stem cell research.) One of my least favorite people in the world, James Dobson, won't support McCain because of his stance on gay marriage. Because Dobson doesn't like him is enough for me to like him.

But McCain is far-more qualified than Romney, in terms of years of service, and the type of service he's done in politics. So I just can't agree with him saying Romney is the most qualified.

I'm not sure where I stand on the religion issue. As a born-again Christian, of course I'd want the president of my country to believe in the same God and practice Christianity. But as the separation of church and state grows wider and wider, it's becoming more difficult to keep Christianity in politics.

There is a great book I'm reading with two girls from my church called "Self Talk, Soul Talk". It takes you through ways to stop the "beating up of the self" after mistakes, big or small. We've enjoyed so far... simple and basic stuff, but we often forget the simple basic stuff.

Your post is another affirmation for me to remember that mistakes usually aren't worth the grief we give ourselves afterwards.

Interesting. The second word of the song is "Jesus" and they substituted it with "Shepard".

Not that I don't appreciate the inclusion of the song, but it seems like an odd choice as a finale for a fund raising event.

Something like "I'll Stand by You" or "Walk On" or "Pride" by U2. Sheesh... "Beautiful Day" by U2 would also work, "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, "Ooh Child" by 5 Stairsteps, "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke. And that's just off the top of my head.

This is a tough one. It seems as though she is being refused for what the archbishop is categorizing a sin. At least, that's how it appears to me. I realize it's a little more "grey" than the black and white I am making it here, but if you get down to the nuts and bolts, that's what it is really.

If that's the case, then I guess non of us can take communion, huh?

But I have issues with how the Catholic church handles the issue of communion, anyway. So I should just be quiet.

I think for a gay couple, it's neither.(Certainly in part) But I believe they are looking at the bigger picture. They see it as civil rights issue - they equate this fight to the women's suffrage or the civil rights movement of the 60s.

I have heard of this movie, in fact, I've read the book. I haven't made a point to rent the movie, yet, because a lot of Christian movies just aren't up to par. The book was good, but not my favorite of Ted Dekker's. I prefered Blink. (Although with the plot of that book, the movie version would be a difficult feat to pull off.) I would highly recommend the book, though. He's an author I've read a lot by and enjoyed quite a bit.

That being said, I do have a favorite "faith-based" movie (admittedly I haven't seen many) and that's End of the Spear. Such a great story of forgiveness.

What did you think of the ending of Three? Did you have it figured out?

If you like mysteries, admittedly strange ones, you might like movie. (If it stays faithful to the book, that is,) And it will probably take less time than reading to book would.

"Blown away"... that's a great way to describe that movie. I knew the story of Jim Elliot, but not Saint's and I'm so glad that movie was made. What an amazing story!

I attended a wonderful liberal arts Christian college in the heart of your state, Bob, and every year we'd have a chapel service on Martin Luther King, Jr. day. An upperclassman - a charasmatic speaker and star football player, had memorized this speech and I had the priviledge of seeing him do it twice before he gradutated. Amazing. I, too, found the dialog very interesting. And I have mixed feelings about it.

I know a lot of people like SteveW and Geo, who are disillusioned with the church. More often than not, that disillusionment is justified. The church is messed up. We've got a lot of problems. We don't focus enough on restoration, if you ask me, nor do we focus enough on love. Once I had my eyes opened to that, instead of leaving the church I stayed and tried to spur on change.

As far as your concerns about being called a sanctimonious ass, it did seem so when you made this comment "Geo, I didn’t think you had any ideas about loving the poor … thanks for confirming it". As for the donation thing, that seemed more like an open wound from SteveW more than anything else.

I don't know you, Bob, nor do I know any of them. I saw some miscommunication on both sides, and one things I hate about the internet is due to the anonimity, people feel as though they can make any kind of remark and not have to face the backlash. It's the people like you, who genuinly seek out opinions, that are few and far between. You've never struck me as the type to think yourself better than others, but the above comment I quoted of yours did rub me the wrong way. But so did some other other comments (they just didn't ask for opinions on them, but that's neither here nor there.)

Just trying to give you an outsider's position. Defending the church isn't easy when we've made so many mistakes. It's the fighting to make it better and not giving up on the church is what gives us that rough road sometimes.

About 3 months ago my daughter, who is 3 years old took permanent black ink to my scarlet corderoy couch. I washed the cover, and no luck. I was going to give up when my mom took some regular liquid dish soap and a scrubber to it and we washed it again. Guess what?! The marker came out. I could not be happier with the result. Now, she has smooshed banana into the cover. I have complete faith it will come out, I am washing tonight.

Aside from all this "health and wealth" talk regarding this strand of Christianity, my biggest problem with the prosperity gospel is that they think the reason for the bad things in their lives are a result of them not having enough faith.

Bad things happen to bad people, not good people. There is no such things as a "good" person. We aren't good... we are sinners. Bad things happen to bad people because of the Fall. If we make faith about us and not about God and what Christ did for us on that tree, it puts a huge amount of responsibility on us... to affect something we don't have the ability to affect.

To me, putting that responsibility on our shoulders is the opposite of prosperity. It's despair. It is bound for failure.

I used to disagree that talking on your cell phone was a distraction, until I moved to Missouri and had to buy a headset due to the state's new law.

Now that I've used a headset after years of not using one, I cant imagine ever NOT using it. It keeps both hands on the wheel, it help me react quicker in defensive driving, and in general makes my life a lot easier.

I'm not sure it should be a law, but now that I've used a headset, I'm glad it's a law. It's been beneficial to me, and those who have the unfortunate experience of driving around me. :)

I have a unique perspective on Dr. Dobson, due to my time working for a fellow para-church in Colorado Springs about 10 years ago. This was during the Gender-Neutral Bible controversy, a controversy in which Dobson was heavily involved.

My feelings toward him are very sour as a result of some of the things he did during that. (He damaged a hurt some very good friends along the way, and he burned some well-built bridges he shouldn't have) I've said to many people regarding his political involvement: it is very intentional on his part. And I don't think that's okay.

I also know many mothers and fathers that feel like failure because Dr. Dobson's methods on parenting didn't work for their kids. It makes me very sad to know that people see his methods as gospel. Or put so much pressure on themselves because they think any method, not just Dobson's, is a sure-fire way to bring up a good kid who follows the Lord.

Starbucks doesn't seem to mind around here. Their WiFi isn't free, though. You can, however, get a Starbucks gift card, register is with ATT&T wireless and as long as you fill it up each month (any dollar amount) you can use their WiFi.

I don't think it will be too long before free WiFi becomes the norm... and places that act like it's the end of the world if you sit at one of their tables for a couple of hours won't keep that policy for long if they know what's good for business!

On the one hand - I know some people who aren't computer savy and get frustrated having to create an ID for blogger. One woman at my church tried a few times to get a blogger ID and she had trouble, so she just gave up. So from that perspective anon comments have a place.

On the other hand, most anon commenters on my blog leave a comment or two once and never come back. So trying to engage with them hasn't worked for me, so I didn't see the anon option as "worth it". I've also found that most of the time anon commenters are simply cowards who don't want you to find "their" space. They want control.

All that to say - I'm all for moderation... anon or not.

have your liver checked. meanwhile, do not consume anything containing caffiene.
if your liver is damaged by disease, it is not filtering properly.

diseases that could cause the liver to weaken the filteration process are HBV, HCV, NASH as well a few others.

drink plenty of water. see your doctor. ask him to test you for hepatitis c (as well as others) by actually testing for antibodies-do not let him rely on a standard blood liver panel alone because with hcv, sometimes the alt and ast levels do not show an increase. (it's a natural occurance in those with HCV)

it is thought of (and experienced by many heppers) that if the liver is unable to handle the filteration process, it can actually cause you to store things that would cause an imbalance. proteins consumed, i.e, red meats and others like iron and caffiene can cause a major issue in how the brains chemicals react. not only do you have an issue there (if you have liver disease) but if you have HCV or HBV, the virus also passes the blood brain barrier along with all the toxins your body is unable to filter.

get checked and good luck!

as far as other things causing panic attacks in those without liver disease, it could be brought on by medications (even anti-depressants), hormonal issues, and other drugs like alcohol. it could even be brought on by something youv'e inhaled, ie,evnvironmental pollution that you are allergic to.

i know it's hard to do, but when you do have a panic attack, remove yourself from the area your in (if your not at home) and find a quiet place you can curl up into a ball by holding your knees close together. fans also help if your directly able to place one infront of you. rolling up tightly into a sheet or blanket also helps. whatever you do, try to remember that there are some chemicals bouncing around and miscommunicating in the brain (usually brought on by something foreign in the body). try not to hyperventalate, because that will make the attack worse.

I know it's easier said than done, but I've been there. My issue was liver disease (hcv)-almost 30 years of infection prior to treatment.

well, from the sounds of your question, you have had more than one and now are scared of having them again. This is called Panic Disorder, and I was recently diagnosed with it myself. From my experience so far, there are a few things that have helped me to overcome them:

1. taking a very low dose (half of a pill) of Lexapro

2. doing cognitive behavioral therapy with my psychologist to try to find the root cause of my attacks and how to talk back to them

3. as someone else said, when you feel them come on, just let them come. The harder you try to fight them, the worse they'll be. It's called the acceptance paradox. Whenever I do get attacks now, the intensity is extremely lowered.

4. when I feel them coming on, I also do a deep, slow, relaxed breathing (breathe in as long as possible, hold as long as possible, breahe out as long as possible, hold as long as possible, breathe in as long as possible, etc.). This usually slows down my heart beat even after only a minute of doing this...it really helps!!!

5. find out what you're getting scared about, write down the thoughts you're having when you're getting scared, and then analyze them and see how irrational they are. Here's a good link for talking back to common thoughts during panic attacks

I think I know which counselor you're talking about :P I don't think you need reminding, but I just wanted to let you know that she's extremely capable, she knows what she's doing, and she absolutely cares about her students--she's just on the more conservative side of the spectrum in wanting you to set expectations a little lower, just so you'll stay realistic. So you won't be disappointed in the end. I don't really think it's her underestimating you, because she clearly wasn't surprised when some of her students got into great schools that she had previously told them to forget about (talk to me if you need examples, I've heard all about them from other students). So I think you should go ahead and put all your fashion stuff down and "impractical" majors, because she will ultimately respect your decision and who knows, with your determination, I'm sure you will find a place for yourself even if a fashion industry career doesn't happen. I think you're creative to find something for yourself that's not a cookie-cutter Silicon Valley job whatever happens. :)

take the tours and all but really try to 1) find people there you know (so you can go to the "forbidden" dorms, hangouts, etc.) and then 2) check out the surrounding area; is it cheap? yummy? 3) "eavesdrop" in the caf or the libary or wherever you can, not to be rude but just to get a better feel of things basically just be really alert :)

I would actually love to try the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich- I appreciate that they've included a vegetarian choice. So I'd order that for myself, the Philly cheesesteak sandwich for my husband, and a small pepperoni pizza for my son. If I wasn't in a sandwich mood, I'd do a large pizza with extra cheese, green peppers and pineapple for me and my husband.

I have used it several times. Whenever I feel a cold coming on I take and it prevents it from getting any worse. But you have to take it right away, not the day after you start to feel sick. It doesn't do much good then.

It tastes really gross, just to give you a heads up.

I have to disrespectfully disagree with Brian. I know what a cold feels like. I take airborne when I first start to feel congestion or a sore throat. It never gets worse after that. No sneezing, cough or runny nose. There were two times I took it where it didn't work - more than 36 hours after I felt sick and the cold just ran it's course after three days.

I have every season on DVD. I haven't sat down and watched a full episode in a while, but whenever my boyfriend is flipping through channels and pauses on Friends for more than a second, I say, "This is the one where..." and then start reciting lines from the episode even after he moves onto the next channel. It's a sickness.

I am probably most like Monica, but also have some quirky moments like Phoebe. My favorite two episodes are the one where the girls lose the apartment playing Ross' game of who knows who better ("A transponster? That's not even a WORD!") and the one where everyone finds out about Chandler and Monica.

I won't tease you, I do the same thing. Well, maybe not decide which day I'll eat what, but plan 4-5 meals for the week and do my grocery shopping off of that. Thanks for answering my questions! I'm making peppermint bark and some sugar scrubs to give away as Christmas gifts, plus "recylcing" some other things I have. (But I fully intend to tell the recipient that these are "used" gifts.)

Also, I really liked your answer to the other Steph's question. There are definitely some things I disagree with my parents about (politics, mainly), but in general we all just agree to disagree and don't really talk about those things.

Great photos! It looks like you really had a great time... I know too many brides who were too busy that day to actually enjoy their wedding day.

My friends had a Matt Nathanson song as their wedding song... and he actually came to sing it (and others) the night before at the pre-wedding dinner! It was awesome!

I also prefer fuller eyebrows to pencil-thin ones. Unfortunately mine are not quite as full as I'd like, due to overplucking in my teens and then them NOT GROWING BACK! Ack! Well, they've filled in a bit, but not as much as I'd like. I definitely need to do something back then, b/c I totally had "man brows," but I wish I'd had someone to give me some guidance on what I was doing. (My mom has never plucked her eyebrows in her life, and doesn't need to. Grr.)

I was born on the 13th and 13 is probably my favorite number... I like to think it's actually lucky, not unlucky.

I already (mostly) do 3-6. I will dry clean fancy dresses, but only after a few wearings and at our eco-friendly dry cleaner. (Although I've never done any research into it, so I don't know how much better it is than traditional.)

This is precisely why I choose to caucus for Obama yesterday. We have to change the hearts of America, not the abortion law. (No matter who is in the White House, I just don't see that law changing.) In reading one of his books, listening to his speeches, watching him in the debates, I can proudly say that I am a Christ-follower, and a supporter of his. It took me a while to get there, but it was worth all the time it took to get to know the candidates to discover which one seems to really have American's best interests at heart.

I wish coconut oil had the magical properties of creating curls where there are none. Sometimes I get so bored with my straighter than a stick hair, but NOTHING makes it wavy or curly. I wish I could have soft curls like that... occasionally, anyway.

I'm not going to say one way or another what I'd do if I was in your position, because when I read this post I know what decision you want to make... you just have to trust in yourself to make it.

Regardless of what your decision is, whenever you don't have insurance through work, definitely, definitely get some sort of insurance yourself. No matter how healthy you are, there are accidents and unexpected illnesses possibly looming around the corner. The peace of mind alone is worth budgeting for.

I think you feel like you should take the job or you have to. Those are some pretty big cons, and you could still get another job. Personally, I want to enjoy my job and have it bring something to my life, but I don't want it to BE my life. I want to be able to do the things I enjoy (Etsy, spending time with friends and boyfriend) and if my job hindered that, then I think I would come to resent it.

Is there any way you can ask for additional time to consider the first offer? Maybe ask them to have until the end of the week, or at least Wednesday? That way you might have a better feel for the second job after your interview, so you can make a more informed choice between the two.

I read something similar for cockroaches. It grossed me out beyond belief.

One time, my sister was sleeping on the couch and a mouse came up and bit her finger. My mom called someone (911, poison control, pharmacy?) freaked out because she thought my sister was going to get infected and die. It was all good though. That story probably didn't help you out very much. Sorry.

I get comments on how young I look all the time, and I'm a lawyer. Imagine being in your position, but then having to argue a motion before a judge and expect them to take you seriously. Especially in the area of the country where I live and a LOT of the attorneys are old white men.

When they first see me, a lot of clients automatically assume I am a college or law school intern, not someone who has been practicing for four years. Once I open my mouth though, I think people get past how young I look.

Oh, one more thing... when I was 24 years old and on a cruise with my family, I was given a schedule for the "kids activities" by one of the ship's workers, which was for ages 4-16. (And yes, she gave it to me because she thought I was in that age range... she told me so.)

I am totally there right now. The other morning I had a complete meltdown that was triggered by something as simple as my oatmeal overflowing in the microwave. Because I had to cook it in the microwave because of course the pot was dirty and I was going to have to do a full sink of dishes in order to wash that glass microwave tray thing but I was already in work clothes and the dishwasher needed to be emptied before I could wash the dishes and I always make a huge mess whenever I do dishes and of course I was going to mess up my clothes and I was going to be late for work and I had no breakfast and and and...

Yeah, total meltdown. But I managed to do a sink full of dishes before going to work!

Instead of taking over your comments, I'll just send you an email with the plan of attack my boyfriend and I came up with to combat this sinking, in over my head feeling I've been having lately. Hopefully it will help!

how can you do that to us. tell us a story and not show a picture, you should be ashamed :) I know what you mean about getting in a funk and wanting to change, I would always change my hair. Once I went to a walk in place and was trying to tell them I wanted it razored, the guy was like you don't want that it will be uneven, I am like yea, I know. After a while, I took my the wrap off and got up and left. I didn't want him jackin' my hair up. Should've know better for a $10 hair cut, but I was desperate.

People do often judge from the outside. When I was 15, I got my eyebrow pierced (parents permission). I noticed a DRAMATIC difference in the way 'strangers' treated me. I had it for about 9 months (I guess a teen phase), and it was funny to see how everything suddenly 'went back to normal'. Within a span of 20 minutes the world can see you so differently, just as it can make you see the world differently.

I had a friend who committed suicide when we were in 8th grade. He and a friend took the family car out when his parents weren't at home and wrecked it. We believe he was in shock and he thought that he had killed his friend as he was knocked out. He walked home and killed himself. It was really hard. He was by far the most popular kid at school...QB of the football team, start basketball player and track runner...very likable.

My favorite singer, Patti Griffin, has a song called Tony about a boy who kills himself. It's so sad to hear one someone does. Like you, I wonder what could have made a difference. Thanks for the reflection.

I am not a coffee drinker either!! Love the smell of it though...hate the taste. Turbo, my husky/retriever, looks just like Sadie after a shave. he looks so big with his fluff, then he's skin and bones. the last person who cut his hair got a not so nice email from me as I said trim his tail, she butchered it. Not to mention she didn't cut his paw hair at all, then shaved him unevenly. It's finally grew back in. I hope Riley's grows back soon too. He doesn't need to be cold.

I love the decor. You are inspiring me to share my decorations with the blog world. I especially love the willow tree nativity scene as well. Not that it was my most memorable at the time, because I was a greedy little kid ;) However, I really appreciated my cabbage patch dolls that my mom got me one year. It was the year that they were flying off the shelves and people were fighting for them. Later I realized just how hard she worked to get me those dolls.

We are going to follow the 3 gift rule for Dylan. Jesus got 3 gifts and so will you. Also, we like to find various ways to help out in the community whether it's serving food to the homeless, helping those less fortunate find gifts for cheap or making monetary donations. It's our chance to give, not just receive. We also do a family vacation around this time to create special memories.

I would say that I am not easily embarrassed at this point in my life. I can whip out a boob like no one's business to nurse and it doesn't embarrass me. I can say whatever and people know me so they don't care if I goof up.

Now, it's great that Angelina has adopted. But, when there are pictures of Brad, Angelina,the kids, and the NANNY, I kinda think it's wrong. Take care of them yourself. Don't hire someone else to do it for you. When I'm at Walmart and see a flock of children with their Mom, she doesn't have a nanny. She does it herself, like a normal person.

It's so interesting to read how other people feel about religion (God and whatnot).

I don't know.Personally I feel like there has to be something bigger than me, but I'm just not sure what.

It makes me feel really uncomfortable when people talk about their beliefs. For example, when people say things like "My belief in the Lord (fill in the blank)" and that's including when people on TV say it. It's like it seems so personal, and it creeps me out.

I agree that that breastfeeding is best. I also think Dr\'s and other health care professionals are too quick to say a woman has a problem and can\'t do it. Breastfeeding is not easy in the beginning. You doubt yourself and your ability to feed your infant. BUT our bodies were MADE to do this! Not enough women trust themselves to do it. Your wife may be one of the few who truly can not breastfeed. The actual number is something like 2% who truly can not. She may also been on the losing end of bad medical advice!

I suppose a month long process is good for your family (I am not sure of the kids ages) but with a teething 8 month old....I would not recommend you take the chance of having them chomp on this crap one minute longer. I think we are going to impose the \"No China\" toy rule in this house. There are some really nice wooden German toys out there. They use all natural wood dyes to color them. Nothing to say they may not be recalled, but the EU seems pretty up on things like plastic leaching issues, GMI\'s and generally \"seem\" to give a S*i% about the products they turn out!

I remember once during my primary school years, there was a general election and i told my mum as she was going off to vote; "vote for BN ah". Newspaper propaganda can work on the mind of a primary school kid.

But really, there is no "very outstanding local political party" if you're looking at it from the point of the ability to govern. There are some outstanding political figures in the parties but not the whole party itself. Shahrir Samad and Lim Kit Siang are good examples.

I'm at a loss how to advise my patients about taking Fosamax, etc...at what age is a T-score of -2 bad? 50 or 90? So your score improved after 2 years on Fosamax--are you going to spend $80/month for the rest of your life? Is there an endpoint to therapy, or do we wait until these people turn to chalk? When would you restart it? Do you get DEXAs q 2 years routinely? What if she breaks her hip anyway 4 years later--stop? Who's measuring patients' core strength/proprioception as a means of fracture prevention? What if her dentist tells her to stop?

I'm asking because my patients are asking me!

As usual, a hugely insightful -- and passionate! -- post. Certainly those of us in PR have a ton of work to do helping our clients navigate -- and see the value in -- this kind of communication. I have to think that many of us are firmly on board, working on getting clients there, too. But I have to respectfully disagree with your characterization of PR as largely defined by "pitching and spamming." First of all, my teams don't spam -- don't think they'd know how even if they wanted to. Secondly, since when did "pitch" become a bad word? Here's the reality of the PR pro's life: we are paid to disseminate information. Many journalist I believe are interested in receiving information -- last time I checked. Now, can it be done in an annoying/amateurish/idiotic way? Sure. Is it my job to ensure my juniors know how to engage a journalist in a conversation that benefits them AND benefits our clients? Sure. But just as the smartest PR professionals have embraced social media as a crucial forum in which to inspire -- EARN -- conversations on their clients' behalf, so are they continuing to improve their ability to execute with transparency and relevance the most fundamental transaction between a PR pro and a journalist which is...yes...the pitch.

And Brian, I'd have to disagree with your response ("In this regard, the greatest deficit exists across the spectrum of agencies, marketers, and in house communications professionals. If anyone says otherwise, they’re wrong.") At the mid-sized NYC agency where I head a major practice, we are whole-heartedly on board with the brave new world before us, busting our humps to stay current and fluent in all the emerging technologies, engaging our clients again...and again...and again in an effort to demonstrate how crucial it is this space not be ignored (as well as PR's right to accelerate the conversations happening there). But all the passion and eloquence and familiarity with the technology in the world will not convince Big Conservative Client (global packaged goods leader) to abandon 50 years of marketing strategy (translation=:30 spots) to embrace digital spaces and platforms it has yet to fully understand. Hell, we're still working to convince them of the value and superior ROI of editorial impressions vs advertising, let alone convincing them to slide another coupla percentage points of that MSA spend over to social media programming. And even a social media success story from a world Big Conservative Client understands, personal care, isn't helping our case. The Dove "Evolution" success -- both critical and consumer buzz-wise -- at the end of the day doesn't mean anything to clients like ours because guess what, despite Unilever's spinning the data, that brilliant campaign has not done much to build the Dove business. So have a little compassion for those of us slogging along in the service of clients who just don't yet share the belief of their PR counselors that social media is the future - sorry, the PRESENT -- of brand storytelling.

I'm hoping people embrace it as well. It might've been controversial at the beginning, but it's here now, so let's make the most of it!

I think the free days are a great way to get people riding that might not have tried it otherwise. Occasional promotional events (free/discounted days or everyone who rides on a certain day gets a free coffee coupon, etc.) would help keep the momentum going and help get Phoenix out of their cars.

I could see light rail catching on, but what will really happen is anyone's guess.

In addition to using the fresh zucchini in lots of creative ways, you can also grate it up and freeze it, to make zucchini bread and other fun treats when your plants have stopped producing. Yum!

I wonder, can you use yellow summer squash in recipes that call for zucchini? We have a squash plant, but not zucchini.

We've done so many great variations of this. One that's fun to do is wrap it up with brown paper bag and duct tape, then play toss (obviously an outdoor thing to do). Kids really enjoy making their own ice cream, and you can personalize the flavors too!

I'm not "super-educated" in being green yet, but I was recently pondering how un-green housing developments are. There are so many shooting up in my city that I have decided that I will only live in older converted buildings instead of supporting "new" developments. I currently live in an early 1900s factory converted into lofts.

ok, so the extra piece of plastic is dumb for this idea, but what if you turned it upside down, cut off the bottom of the bottle (maybe to turn into a container for car keys, random buttons, hair ties, or even to plant something in) and then used it as a funnel for those hard to reach places when you have to put stuff in your car engine or some other hard to reach place? i think the idea of re/upcycling is wonderful. if you have to buy more stuff for the finished product, so be it. somebody is just going to buy it if you dont and i doubt their project will be 50% or so re/upcycled.

Johnny, there are significantly large glaciers on LAND (Greenland. Antarctica) - you know, ice that's not floating in the ocean... yet. Not all nor even a majority of the ice cubes are in the ocean yet.

I have gone to the VirginFest when it was in Baltimore, MD at Pimlico Race Course, and I can promise you that was the best festival i've ever been to not only in terms of music, but by what they were doing by being green.

I can tell you they are worlds ahead of this disgrace for a public gathering, and that being green isn't far off.

For one, all plastic containers used in the festival for beverages were made from corn, so there were 3 different garbages: one for the landfill (trash), one for recycling, and one for a compost pile. Because all the corn plastic products were able to be composted, this saved on waste and was really smart.

All of the refills were like $1 or so if you purchased a corn container, and you were allowed to bring 2 plastic bottles filled with water from your own house for use. They did even have refill stations, although the lines were long, they were free.

So, honestly, hearing about this makes me sick. And I am by no means a hippie, but when it comes to saying something and doing something else, I am NOT a fan.

Do a little bit more research before attending festivals like these, and make sure to read ALL THE FINE PRINT because there is a lot of it, to ensure you will be getting the best experience before forking over the dough.

Easy for everyone to judge, but mental illness is a disease. Shane was a caring father that snapped, just because he didn't die - like the rest of the family murder / suicides does not make this any less of a tragedy for both families and friends. Let’s hope all those who have posted nasty comments never have to experience what it is like to lose close family. Prayers would be more welcome along with communities and neighbors who speak up or try to help a family in need when something isn't right.

Christianity is a way of life, a way of beleaving and the platform of your norm structures. People don't want to be Christian becuase they don't have the same ethics and morals or they just don't agree or believe in some things if not most that we do. I find it rather disgustin that Christina Garcia had the "courage" to even show her face on television to claim her daughters innocense. Her defense to her daughters actions was that Victoria, or Tori as they call her, posted mean comments and bulletins about them on MySpace calling the whores, sluts...(ect.) IRONICALLY, one of the girls is bragging (on the video in the middle of the argument) about one of Victorias recent or previouse boyfriends(Marcus or JaMarcus, didn't quite catch name) cheating on victoria with her. I'm almost positive these girls are such victims of public humiliation as Christina Garcia would argue.

Hey, there's always a positive side right?
Atleast I know my tax dollars are going to be educating these ignorant children in prison... or atleast that's all we can hope for!

By the way it isnt that i have no idea whats going on my mother works for the center that deals with the abused kids...and she knows medical records she doesnt tell me anything because it is law but said she thinks he did it. But its hard for me to face that one of our friends is a possible kid rapeist or whatever so you shouldnt jump down our throat ok its just hard to belive...........i have a neice that is her age and i do understand if someone did this to her i would want to tourture them and everyway possible!

Well, well, here it is November and she's still not back. Hmm, my friend just had his fiance come into the US from Korea. She's here, no problem. Ever wonder why he hasn't come yet? Having lived in both regions of the state, I can assure you that in southern IL, the #1 concern is that south of I-80 won't be forgotten for the next four years. The average resident of Illinois could care less about specific policies. Most people have an intense dislike of politics and just want to be assured that if they have a need, it will be addressed. The mere fact that Blago doesn't live in Springfield is insulting enough to those of us in southern IL. hey! you know the key to losing weight is simple but hard to do: Eat healthy and in moderation, and exercise! You should start small so you don't lose confidence when you miss a day. Just going for a quick paced walk for 30 minutes per day and eating lots of veggies and drinking water you will see results- PLUS you will feel better about yourself. I went on a sandwich diet. Cereal in the morning and sandwich for lunch and dinner. Skip the mayo and use mustard instead. Also another thing which could motivate you is to sign up for a 5k in Eugene. I think there is one coming up soon! That will get you to work out and have fun! Just remember to not let yourself get down if you miss a day. Just keep going! Its always a good thing to try to be healthy! :)

I LOVE to wear my babies. I have four boys and a girl right in the middle. And I'm pregnant with TWINS! I had a pounch sling and loved the convenience for popping in and out, the cozy sweetness of their folded up little body so very close to mine, the fact that a perfect-fitting pouch sling required almost no adjusting, and the beautiful fabrics. When I injured my back three days before baby number four was born, it put an end to one shouldered carrying for me. :( If I had a big budget, I'd own a Beco and a wrap and a mei tai- all beautiful, of course! But I have a tight budget and I picked out an Ergo. It really couldn't be more comfortable. I love the ability to stick a fussy baby (or toddler) comfortably on my back while I fix dinner. I love that having a carrier means I can hold my babe a lot more often than if I had to use just my hands. I love to wear my babes in public and discourage the "carry your baby around in a carseat" mentality. Actually, beginning to use a baby carrier brought a lot more of my nurturing instinct to my awareness and helped my relax and enjoy my baby. I LOVE a snuggly, soft, warm, sweet-smelling, sleeping baby snuggled heart to heart. I'll admit though, that my favorite thing is seeing how TOTALLY HOT my husband looks wearing our babies! :)

I'm not much of a decorator either in the traditional sense. I don't really want to clutter my place with statues of ghosts from Hallmark. If I'd had the time, it would have been fun to go a more natural Halloween decorating path, but I'm not sure how exactly one does that.

I was going to get a pumpkin, but then I didn't want to spent the money on something I carve and look at and then throw away in 3 days. So, I'm going to make a pumpkin pie instead. So, I would say your pumpkin flavored desserts totally qualify as getting into the Halloween spirit.

I'm going as Catherine from Wuthering Heights to both my jobs and I am anticipating no one knows who I am. Oh well, it will amuse me.

I have thought about homeschooling my kids before but have never taken that leap. I really don't think I could handle it right now with a two year old and 11 month old at home during the same time. I know there are people that are able to handle it but honestly I'm not sure my nerves could. I applaud you for wanting to do it with all that you have going on...I can't imagine doing it with two babies in the house. I can't wait to hear what advice you get!

I am one that actually uses bleach in my whites so I might have to try out your tip..anything that might be alittle healthy!

My tip or maybe not so much a tip..I wash everything in hot water. They say clothes won't last as long but I feel like it helps to disinfect things. Who knows it I'm right or not but it does my mind good :)

Oh my...that sounds hard to do. Can you actually use applesauce in place of butter in all cooking...if it calls for one cup of butter you use one cup of applesauce and it still tastes the same? How does coconut milk taste...is it similar? I tried soy milk one time and it was NASTY! to me at least :)is there a big price difference in coconut milk and cow milk? Cheese would be the hardest for me....not sure I could live without cheese.

I love Ute Leube's line, Primavera, and can only imagine how amazing his new high-end line, Amala Beauty is. I would love to try the cleanser that removes makeup and dirt. I am sure this product is not only one of the best, but that this entire line is one to be reckoned with.

As an aside, many hospitals and such are not trained in the proper removal of body jewelry. I know of one instance where they were just going to use pliers to cut the ring and then pull it out (cutting would cause really sharp jagged ends that you wouldn't want pulled through those areas). They had to be showed how to bend the ring sideways to remove it properly.< />< />By the by, I'm here via Chas Clifton's blog.
