As a former newspaper publisher; equity shareholder in a large wireless cable operation; as well as through the years having had two now deceased business associates that were pioneers in developing and managing cable sites, I'm delighted to see a former newspaper publisher at FCC. Hopefully she will see the way some of us LAPers (leased access programmers) use this method of acquiring airtime to produce locally focused TV content much like a good community newspaper. Welcome aboard Ms. Clyburn. As president of the leased access association I look forward to working with you. association I look forward to working with you.
You have perpetuated the myth cable spreads about the main beneficiaries of leased access being home shopping networks. QSN and HSN, the two major ones are happily carried by cable on their own channels on the very basic tier. Most LAPers (leased access programmers) focus on locally produced content. If you'd like some sites let me know. It is sad I see people spreading this myth but boy cable likes it that way.
