in 3 year later, AOL Weblogs Inc is thriving with brilliant numbers on The Inquisitr
Just curious didn't they just have problems paying their bloggers or did I miss something?

in Google Chrome Day One: Enough Already! on The Inquisitr
The good ol days were funny when people thought Netscape the browser and Netscape the site were one and the same. Most people who use IE will never ever ever ever ever use the features that Firefox brings. Now having said that I think Chrome would make an excellent alternative to people that are less computer literate. The biggest problem is that a lot of computer illiterate people do not know how to change their homepage so you can bet they will never take the time to download Chrome.
I do feel that if they are shown they will like the how light-weight and fast it is. I love my wife to death so I say this with love and compassion. She is one of those computer illiterate people who opens new sessions of IE7 instead of using the tabs. It is highly unlikely that I will ever get her to use Chrome although I am making it my browser of choice. I just wrote this comment in it. The funniest thing is that I taught my son to use the Avant browser when was 5 so there is hope in the world.
Browser: Someone in a department store with no money who is looking for the next big trend in shopping (circa. 1984)

If your heart is in it but you have no ability to write then you are wasting your time like I did over the last four years. Took me four years to realize that no matter how many hours you work at something and you suck at it you won't be successful.

It is so radically different than what they had I think it will take some getting used to. The design hurts the eyes and I think it sucks too.

in Digg Favorites Slapped By Google on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Has anyone thought that maybe they are devaluing DMOZ and all the directories that use the DMOZ data. Just a thought!

Andy Beard
Dmoz might give some trust, but relatively little visible PR.
hat is especially the case once the data is transferred over to Google's own version (which uses PageRank to rate the sites)
This site constantly gains links, high quality links from authority sites, so a drop in relative pagerank would be unlikely.
My link profile is too wide, as are all of the other sites listed.
Even in Vlad's case, whilst I have probably given him a fair amount of juice over the last 12 months, a PR2 is a joke, and so is that of Court.

in PayPerPost: a Web 2.0 witch-hunt on Mathew's comments
Here is my view, outside of the blogosphere no one knows Jason Calacanis. Pretty much the entire internet could give a rats ass about him and his opinions. He built weblogs inc with 10 ads on each one his blog. Seems a little hypocritcal to critisize people for making money and you have been a google whore for the better part of two years or more. Let me just say Jason that Wordpress, Blogger, and Adsense have done more for the blogosphere then you could ever hope to do. So what you had a couple of blogs, got lucky, made some millions. So what gives you the right to tell my mom or my dogs mom that they don't have a right to make money. I have to say I remember the same thing being said about adsense when it was first introduced. Now adsense is everywhere, the truth is that someone besides an "A-lister" thought of something and beat you to it.
You're biggest concern was disclosure, and now payperpost requires that their bloggers disclose that the post is paid for. Please stop trying to be the morality police on the internet, its annoying and your arrogance is astounding.
If I misspelled any words, oh freakin well, move on with your life.

That was very diplomatic and well said. I have signed up with them again myself under the name newstealth. I expected to be banned in 24 hours, but that has not happened. Kudos to Netscape for their patience in adversity.

in Why do you primarily Vote on Netscape stories? on DygiScape
Some people are not exactly telling the truth on your poll. I'm always on AIM shanecoffey2 so if you want to talk thats cool. However the reason I left netscape is pretty much a dead issue isn't it. Lifes to short to keep rehashing an argument that could have been avoided.
I guess my point it this, take one of my friends on netscape. He has been a member since June 15, 2006 has submitted over 411 stories, 148 have made it the front page. So thats 37% reaching the front page. That to me is says this, there are a lot of votes that some of those stories did not deserve. Point two, that same friend has been a member for 104 days and has voted on 8072 stories. Now if he worked 24 hours a day and we both know he doesn't that would be about three stories he had supposededly read per hour, or about 78/stories per day that he has voted on. Even if he had done it 8 hours a day he would be doing 10 stories per hour. That does not include the comments they leave or the interaction with their friends on netscape, AIM, or e-mail. Not to mention that this person does work a full time job and does have a family. So tell me how in the world can this person in any way shape or form read 78 articles a day, vote on them, comment on them and have a life too. It does not happen, and this is one the folks who says he is a news junkie in the comments on that post on netscape. Anywho it does not matter and it does not affect me at all, I just call bullshit when I see it.

in Why do you primarily Vote on Netscape stories? on DygiScape
There is only 24 hours a day and most will say they like the stories, or they are a news junkie. But in reality, most of the time when I was a member of Netscape a lot of the people on friends lists would just vote up on all of my stories. This included most of the Navigators and some anchors. So people don't believe it, the reason most of the navigators stories reach the front page is because their friends are voting them up. While else do you think Jason's video is on the front page of a social news site. A video on his dog is not news, but everyone of his friends voted it up to make it to the front page. Hell I something like 72 stories reach the front page and that it wasn't because all of them were interesting. Engadgetscape has dropped from 208 to 359 on the alexa scale, and there is a reason for that. It also made Paul Scrivens top 10 bad web 2.0 companies list which to me was funny, especially in light of the crap that goes on at engadgetscape (netscape)
