in Methodist blogroll on Lake Neuron
I think I may start a Baptist Blogroll.

Except I think--by default--I probably already have.

in Ave Maria on Lake Neuron
As Christians, we are called to be “in the world, but not of it.” I question whether sequestering ourselves in little safe zones is an ideal situation for fulfilling the Great Commission.

Heee...

I love questions like this. I grew up surrounded by the Amish. As a result I've kind of swung the other way. ;-p

But can it be broiled outside of London Town?!? They do not make that clear, do they?

I thought this was excellent. "Jesus transcends politics"--fantastic how Campolo can sum up the entire debate in three words.

This should prove to be very interesting.

Ironically, isn't O'Reilly also a devout Catholic?

I guess I've just come to the conclusion that blogs--especially spiritually-focused ones--are very organic. Sometimes they drive a lot of comments and topics, other times they don't.

Subject matter is an interesting question. I'm not quite sure what I'd like to see. Perhaps more of a "Christianity today" style approach of commenting on issues of the day and issues central to the faith. Good question...I'll have to think on it some more.

I read you all the time, but I can hardly ever get your comments to work! ARRRRGH!

How do you know all the words to "7"? I can't understand half of them.

I cannot believe you jumped on this bandwagon. Really. Boo, you.

Some of us TiVo'd it to watch repeatedly when we get blue about the fact that it has gone away forever.

It's like that postman guy from the Simpsons. Please say you know what I'm talking about....I'm too tired to go digging through Wikipedia.

Carney's sister took an axe,
gave her brother 40 whacks.

(You really need to be careful with this sort of thing, you know.)

The Cost of Discipleship and Ethics, but I don't think I've ever actually read a biography of the man. Huh.

If you find one, let me know.

in The man with wings on Lake Neuron
It's kind of cute that you actually make your wings.

My recipe involved:

1. Calling Buffalo Wild Wings
2. Being yelled at by the grumpy man who said "You DO know there's an hour and a half wait?"
3. Saying "that's fine" and ordering anyway, to the accompaniment of a loud sigh from the grump(ier) man.
4. Loading the dogs in the car, driving to Madison, having Le Husband run in and pick them up.
5. Driving home.

in Dinner with the GOP on Lake Neuron
Heh. Dinner time with my family in our Christian/politically conservative home is really a lot more like the Frank Capra movie "You Can't Take It With You."

It's hysterical. We're all a little crazy. Mostly we tell jokes, complain about DiNozzo's character on NCIS, discuss my crazy grandma's latest craziness and reassure Dad that the turkey isn't too dry.

treatments for that these days. His odds are pretty good, especially if he caught it before the onset of any symptons.

When you say ORU, is that the one in Tulsa? If so, when did you graduate? I had some people I was very close to in High School go there. Odds are you were probably there with them, if it was between 1982 and 1990. ;-p

Sounds like time for a new doctor. Seriously, he should've been able to give you a justifiable answer to your very LEGITIMATE question.

in Mea culpa on Lake Neuron
Jason's blog a few months ago. The short version of my opinion is this:

I think any Christian should be always mindful of his or her actions, and ready to apologise should they give offence. However, I don't think it is incumbent upon us to apologise for everyone else. That veers into arrogance, I think. One Person and one Person only was able to take on the sins of the world.

in Is Nashville any different? on Trying To Follow
I don't know if Nashville is any different, but your post alone is distrubing.

"prides" does not require an apostrophe. Sadly, students from rich and poor families alike don't always retain what they should from school. I don't necessarily fault the tax bracket. I fault teachers who are overworked and students who are more interested in the outside world.

in Calling churches on Trying To Follow
Many churches have their own internal organizations for dealing with people cut off from TennCare and don't want to get involved in the larger political debate.

I respect them for that.
