in officially rad - I’ve stayed out of this argument until now, but... on Officially Rad
"Cut taxes, not defense"? War is by far the biggest tax sink. But argue that these wars aren't necessary or justified and it will be like arguing with creationists - you just can't get through to these people that decision makers are not always - and in fact, frequently - not acting in their interest or the nation's. They'll dig their heels in and defend the worst, most unforgivable sort of corruption and call it family values.

in Arizona State refuses Obama honorary degree. Says he hasn't accomplished enough in life. on AMERICAblog
I like that, but I'd recommend that he leave off the part about "striving for an ASU degree" because people might think he's being sarcastic. This isn't Harvard we're talking about..

George W. Bush was given honorary degrees by Yale and Notre Dame in 2001 and LSU in 2004. (And many more, I'm sure; those were the first few I found.) The Yale Daily News noted that his degree in 2001 was given with his father's history in mind; apparently his Bush Sr. received his own honorary degree from Yale in 1991, three years into his presidency, and was peeved that it took three years.

ASU's defense of their decision is laughable. Why not just say "We're very conservative here and just don't like the President"?

missime Laughable? Plllllllease. It's stupid. President Obama is probably smarter than all the ASU execs combined.

If you quote an April Fools' joke without identifying it as such, are you perpetrating your own April Fools' joke, or are you just falling for someone else's?

I didn't laugh until I read the comments, in what I think is a brilliant twist of humor, both the knight AND the readers become confused! :)

A large part of the appeal of this comic, when it's not being brilliant in another way, is figuring out the humor. This could have been done better with no text, especially if the second panel clearly showed an expression of complete bewilderment on Marry Poppins' face, which would have carried the joke completely. No text definitely captures the zen of this comic more strongly; I think the author should be very careful not to take the 'I don't get it' crowd too seriously.

Havelocke I gotta agree with you, PJ6, so to the author, draw the comic how you want to draw it! If you don't feel like adding bubbles to make it obvious to the ignorant, don't. Your intelligent readers won't hold it against you, I promise. :D

The question in my mind is:

Is the nomination process a CNN network spin-off of some "Surviors 'Reality' " show or were those shows based on presidential election politics?

According to an article by Bill Roggio on this attack, the Pakistani troops consisted of "paramilitary soldiers of the Frontier Corps". While I don't have all that much confidence in the ability of the regular Army, I think this may have been a much softer target than a unit of regulars would have been.
