Hey David - thanks for so much for posting. These speakers are wonderful and it's all we can do to get the word out. Regarding Rails, just thought I'd mention that FreshBooks is actually a PHP shop :) Further to that, everyone speaking has been asked to take an agnostic approach to the material so the audience can gleen universal lessons, and while a handful of these folks come from the Rails community (Ezra and Ryan especially), they've both agreed there is more value in keeping the presentations accessible to all attendees and thereby *not* too platform specific. No doubt they will draw on their own experience, but not to the point of alientating folks. In the case of Pete (and Unspace is surely a Rails shop), he's actually talking iphone development so it will be very iphone platform specific, but in the case of that presentation it was sort of the idea. Anyway...these were all folks we knew would bring it and that's the important thing. thanks again for posting.

thanks for posting. i want to point out to people that we are accepting workshop proposals. there are only 12 workshops, and 5 already accounted for, but we'd like to hear from everyone who's got something to say in the three streams: design, dev and management.

Hey Dennis...not going to wade to far into this, but did want to show my face.

All I can say about SaaN is it was mainly intended for the tech audience, not customers. It's a new way to approach software design and we wanted to make that point. Said another way, it is tech babble for techies...the flip side of this coin is, a significant portion of our customers are techies...and they get the benefit of this piece of tech babble...which kind of brings things full circle.

Great post Fred - thanks for writing it.

For what it's worth it's my belief that Twitter's (and other social media's tools/properties/etc) greatest contribution is going to be to keep large organizations honest and realign them with their customer bases.

It's never been easier to unite with others who are as disgruntled with you. The flip side of that coin and the great news for telcos and other massive organizations is it's never been easier to be in touch with so many customers at once....to hear what they're saying (research) and easily respond to them (low cost).

These are powerful forces; it's really really exciting to see the "vendor/client" alignment being restored.

Just wanted to tip my hat and say, one of the reasons I enjoy reading A VC so much is something not too far removed from a leap of faith...perhaps it's the precursor: conviction. You've got it for all your companies and it's freakin' beautiful.

Honestly is the best policy. IMO business is all about relationships and being true to your own values is the only sustainable way to maintain long term relationships that generate referrals and build your business.

For what it's worth, I think it's really healthy to question these kinds of issues from time to time though; it will just strengthen your resolve.
